Mt Guiting Guiting | Beauty of Romblon, Philippines
A 6 day itinerary trip to Sibuyan Island also known as The Galapagos of Asia situated in Romblon, the Marble Capital of the Philippines, which includes a 3days 2nights hike to one of the toughest mountains in the Philippines, MT. GUITING-GUITING. The mountain is known for its jagged knife edge ridge and kiss the wall portions where one mountaineer has to cross before he or she reaches the summit via the traditional trail.
Tagged as a major climb with a 9/9 difficulty by @Pinoy Mountaineer, one has to really prepare physically and mentally to prove worthy of a successful climbed.

Climbing Mt Guiting Guiting Philippines most difficult mountain climb
Climbing Mt Guiting Guiting on Sibuyan Island in Romblom Province Philippines. This is the most technically difficult mountain climb of the Philippines.
We set out on this hike with 4 days of food knowing that we could complete the return climb in only 3 days. We knew that we may need the extra day of food if the weather was very bad, if the weather had've been much worse we would've waited at Mayo's Peak for a window of opportunity with better conditions. The first day of hiking to Camp 4 at Mayo's Peak is fairly straightforward. On day 2, the return climb from Mayo's Peak to the summit however is a full day of extremely difficult rock scrambling. I would say to anyone that climbing this mountain in the rainy season as we did is quite dangerous and only one week before us a group of climbers from Manila had retreated on the morning of their 2nd day due to their equipment being totally saturated from overnight rain at Mayo's Peak.
Hypothermia is a major risk particularly when climbing Jungle or Rainforest Mountains; many people have died on Philippines toughest trails because of Hyperthermia. Bring lots of plastic bags to keep your spare clothes dry. Keep your dry clothes in separate plastic bags to your food and other equipment.
Most people climb Mt Guiting Guiting in summer but unfortunately in summer lots of the creeks are bone dry and many summit attempts fail due to lack of water. If you intend to climb in the dry season just be aware that you'll need to carry lots more water and it'll be harder to find.
Getting to Sibuyan from Manila is quite a challenge. First go to the Buendia Bus Terminal in Manila and take a 2 hour bus ride to Batangas Pier. During holiday seasons the ferries can be sold out quickly so it's best to arrive at the Batangas Pier ticketing office at about 5-6am to get in line; the ticket office opens at 8am. We were stuck in Batangas for 2 days waiting for available ferry tickets, we stayed one night at Travellers Inn which has rooms for only P500-P800.
At Batangas Pier you need to board the Montenegro Shipping Lines ferry to Romblom City, Romblom Island. Romblom Island is a very nice place and if you have time you could stay here for a few nights. We were also stuck on Romblom Island again waiting for ferry tickets; we stayed at Romblom Plaza Hotel P1200 per night. Otherwise if you're lucky you could almost immediately board a second ferry going to Magdiwang Port on Sibuyan Island.
Once you arrive at Magdiwang you can go directly to the Tourism office (visitors center) and camp there for free but I recommend staying at Sanctuary Gardens Resort. Edgar Mayor the owner of Sanctuary Gardens has a shuttle van that can meet you at Magdiwang Port, his number is +6324010647. He can also rent out motorbikes for P500 per day.
Bermar Tansiongco is the chief Ranger of the National Park, he is highly recommend as guide for climbing Mt Guiting. He lives very close to Sanctuary Gardens. The other 2 men you see in the video acting as porters are Nolan Radan (Ranger) and Ramon Riano.

The Great Mt. Guiting Guiting Traverse Į AdventuRich
Mt. Guiting-Guiting located in Sibuyan Island, Romblon is one of the most technical to climb mountains in the Philippines and notable to many as one of the hardest to climb with its 9/9 level of difficulty.
Fun Fact -
This sought-after-mountain, Mt.G2, was present in my personal bucket list to conquer since I started hiking; first, because it will be a different achievement climbing your hometowns' mountain esp. we're just 3km away from the jump off - Olango Trail. Second, It is also my groups (BAMC CLIMB) Bucket list.
***
This was not the hike we planned, ( if this so, we're probably more than 15 if DENR would allow hahah ) We've decided to pursue this hike just one week before our travel, after receiving the confirmation from my friend (Kuya Kin Mortel) who served as our guide, my photographer and my videographer on some to most of my videos hahah, good thing we've manage to arranged our duty scheds in short notice and yes we were ready physically, so no problem with the challenging trail..
Despite all the rush, we're thankful to God for he sustained us with strength and grant us with a very good weather. This was the adventure that my soul needs, the sound of nature I longed for and a surprised vacation for my fam.
This hike was promising and I will always proud to have climbed you, Thank you Mt. G2 ????
We will surely come back with BAMC CLIMB team ????
P.S. I'm not sure how legit this is, but uncle Remy the pioneer guide of G2 and founder of Olango Trail told us that I was the first Sibuyanon woman to climb Mt G2 ( not sure, maybe only from Southern Sibuyan District?) but hey, really? ???????? bigyan nyu ko ng jacket pls hahah

Mt Guiting Guiting
Sibuyan Island Philippines
Mount Guiting-Guiting is the highest mountain in the province of Romblon located at the heart of Sibuyan Island and dominates the entire island. Guiting-Guiting, in the local Romblomanon dialect, means jagged. The mountain is one of the focal points of Sibuyan's declaration as a biodiversity haven. The entire island has been compared numerous times with the biodiversity endemism rate of the Galapagos islands. This endemism prompted much of the mountain and its slopes to be protected under the Mt. Guiting-Guiting Natural Park, established in 1996.The park also encompasses nearby Mt. Nailog (789 masl) to the west.

Mount Guiting Guiting Romblon
A throw back to One of the toughest and send highest mountain in the Philippines. A 12 hour assault trailing the steepest knife edges mountain I have ever climbed. We reached the summit at around close to sunset then mounted our tent at the top. An experience I could never imagine the scene and inexpressible feeling. Chirping insects, whistling cold breeze wind and spontaneous clouds passing by you can literally reach by hand ????. Will definitely go back after re-doing preparations. 2017 #G2
