How to reach Concocep Resthouse:

There is no regular public transport available. It is recomended to hire a jeepney or car with driver. From Naga City it is an about 50 minutes ride. First take the road to Legazpi, at Anayan, after the Pili town center, turn left to Partido area ( Goa, Tigaon, Lagonoy, Sabang). About 3 kms after passing the town center of Ocampo there is a junction, Hanawan. There you turn left and just follow the road which ends at Concocep Resthouse. The road is asphalted and in good condition. (As of February 2011).

Enjoy the great view over the Partido area, the Lagonoy Gulf and Mt. Iriga! The resthouse is just a ruin but some people are living there. When planning a footwalk excursion at Mt. Isarog you should contract one of the people there as a guide. A nominal tip of 100 - 200 Pesos is expected. Please note that there are no stores at all. You must have your foods and drinks with you.

When going back after 2 serpentine curves there is a small road at the left side. After about 100 meters you reach the parking area of the Mt. Isarog Jungle Park. A real must when visiting Bicol! Be sure to have at least 3-4 hours time before fall and to be in a good physical condition, there are so many stairs...

Have an unfogetable experience. Asphalted footpathes within a real tropical rainforest jungle, barbeque places, waterfalls (take a shower...), a hughe tree house (actually under repair) and many more spectacular features are waiting for you!

Mount Isarog is located in Camarines Sur covering a few cities and municipalities (for our trail, Naga City) and is the second to Mayon Volcano as the highest moutain in Bicol Region. Besides its proximity (long land travel from Metro Manila), Mt. Isarog doesn't have (any) sparkling badge under it belt like the highest, most scenic, or anything that would make it stand out amongst other mountains which is probably the reason it is not that known to beginner hikers like. To seasoned (and/or passionate) climbers though, this giant land form is a treasure and an experience. This too is what I realized.
