The pleasant hot spring resort of Shuzenji on the Izu Peninsula is named after the local temple. Shuzenji Temple was founded about 1200 years ago by Kobo Daishi (Kukai), one of Japan's most important religious personalities.

Mount Omuro (大室山, Ōmuroyama) is an extinct volcano near the eastern coast of the Izu Peninsula, south of central Ito City. It is shaped like an inverted rice bowl and has a beautiful silhouette that can be seen from most places in the Izu Kogen area. Mount Omuro is about 580 meters high and has a crater with a diameter of about 300 meters which takes about 15 to 30 minutes to circle on foot.

Shuzenji is located almost in the center of the Izu-hanto peninsula, on a hill surrounded by the Amagi Sugumo and Daruma Mt.
It is known as one of the major hot spring resort in Naka-Izu, where a lot of people love the atomosphere of quietness.

In this video I was riding on the amazing Nishi Izu Skyline Touge road and happen upon this rest stop atop of Mount Daruma an inactive volcano. The cool thing about this rest stop was they view at Mt Fuji Observatory. You can see straight across to Mount Fuji and other mountain ranges around it. Check it out.

Summit of Mt. Daruma
It took about 2hrs by motorbike to get to the hiking start point. I hiked Mt. Kinkan(816m), Mt. Kodarumayama(890m) and Mt. Daruma(981.8m). The weather was great today and the view was beautiful. It was a hot, long, tiresome hike but it felt great to make the summits.
