The sacred mountain, Hakkaisan (Mt. Hakkai-1778m) is a symbol of Muikamachi, and has always been a popular mountain with climbers. There are currently 3 routes. A route using the ropeway for casual hikers to a rather more challenging route for fit experts.

Hakkaisan Ski Resort
Hakkaisan Ski Resort is well known for its 3km downhill course. It only takes five minutes by 81-passenger ropeway to the moutain top. The resort offers a wider range of ski slopes for all ranges and abilities of skiers and snowboarders. The beginners can also enjoy rides from the mountain top down the 5.5km Raku Raku Course.
