硫黄山 屈斜路湖 北海道 Lake Kussharo, Mount Io Hokkaido JAPAN
Mount Iō 硫黄山 is a volcano in the Akan Volcanic Complex of Hokkaidō, Japan. The mountain is located between the Lake Mashu and the Lake Kussharo. It sits within the borders of the town of Teshikaga. Lake Kussharo 屈斜路湖 is a caldera lake in Akan National Park 阿寒国立公園.
Mt. Io boasts over 1,500 large and small volcanic craters. While the composition of the discharge will differ depending on the fumarole, water vapor and volcanic gases (such as hydrogen sulfide and sulfur dioxide) are constantly being emitted as white smoke.
The mountain was once mined for sulphur, hence its name. To the Ainu the mountain was known as Atosanupuri (naked mountain). The mountain is quite bare. Despite its bareness and being a rather low mountain at 508 metres it hosts alpine plant life, like colonies of Siberian Dwarf Pine.

Stand inches away from the pulse of the earth
With the distinctive smell of sulfur and alpine plants at much lower altitudes than they usually grow, Mt. Io is like a scene from another planet. Mt. Io is located around 3km from Kawayu Hot Springs, and is called Atosa-nupuri (bare mountain) in Ainu. To this day, sulfur plumes rise from various areas of the mountain, with an incredible rumbling sound. Large-scale sulfur mining once took place here, which played a significant role in Teshikaga Town's development.
Parking is free during the winter (late November to early April).
Parking fees apply during summer: 200 for a motorcycle, 500 for a car, 1,000 for a minibus, 2,000 for a large bus
*Mt. Io is currently closed to the public for safety reasons, as there is currently a risk of falling rocks.
Untouched Hokkaido
Eastern Hokkaido has a history and geography all of its own. Despite its location in Japan, it is actually on the North American tectonic plate, and as a result it is full of extremely rare plant life. Eastern Hokkaido locals have coexisted for generations with the area's rare wildlife and the nature in the national parks that those animals call home, and as a result there are many natural areas that are untouched by human hands.

噴気孔が間近で見られる硫黄山（アトサヌプリ） Mount Iozan of active volcano.
北海道東部の弟子屈町（てしかがちょう）にある噴気孔が間近で見られる硫黄山（アトサヌプリ）です。ここまで噴気孔に近づける観光地は珍しいのでとても迫力のある火山活動を見ることが出来ます。
間近で見られますが風向きによっては火山ガスで目が痛くなりますので白い煙が自分の方に向かってきたら目をつぶりましょう。
This is the Mount Iozan seen up close the blowhole in Hokkaido. Tourist destination close to the blowhole is unusual so far. Therefore, you can see the volcanic activity that very powerful.
You can see the activity of the earth, but be careful eyes it will be painful in the volcanic gas by wind.
是硫磺山噴氣孔可以看出，在北海道近距離。到目前為止，是不尋常的旅遊目的地接近氣孔。因此，你可以看到火山活動非常強大。

【北海道の絶景】弟子屈硫黄山 Teshikaga-Mt. Iouzan
◆硫黄山は硫黄採掘量全道一になったことも
硫黄山で、かつて大規模な硫黄の採鉱が行われていたことを知っていますか。アイヌの人たちが焚き付けとして使用していたものを、明治５年頃に釧路の漁場持、佐野孫右エ門が採鉱に乗りだしたことが発端とされています。
当初馬や釧路川を利用して釧路まで硫黄を運搬していましたが、明治１９年には約１万400トンを採鉱し、全道一の硫黄鉱山になるほどの埋蔵量を誇っていました。明治20年には硫黄山から標茶町までの３８kmの間に北海道で２番目に早く鉄道を引き、近代的な精練所を整えるなど、大量に輸送することができるようになりました。大量採鉱、大量輸送によって硫黄資源はたちまち枯渇してしまい、明治29年に採鉱を休止、華々しく登場した鉄道も幻のように消えてしまいました。
現在、当時をしのぶものは硫黄山レストハウス裏の青葉トンネル（鉄道敷跡）と呼ばれる遊歩道くらいしかなくなってしまいましたが、弟子屈町の発展に大きな功績を残した山でもあります。

Moim zdaniem ten vlog w jak najlepszy dotąd sposób pokazuje urok mojej wyspy Hokkaido. Kiritappu i Akkeshi to miejscowości, które znajdują się nieopodal mojego rodzinnego miasta Kushiro. Wychodzą na Ocean Spokojny i szczególnie Kiritappu jest przepięknym terenem, który ma mokradła i przylądki. Wcześniej nie miałem okazji przyjrzeć się tak intensywnie temu, co jest tam, bo dla nas Kiritappu jest za blisko, żeby było wyjątkowe, i nawet nie jeździmy tam często, ale tym razem odkryłem dużo niezwykłych widoków. Wszystko jest w tym odcinku!
