Mt Iwate Yakehashiri Lava Flow (Hachimantai, Iwate, Japan)
Yakehashiri is a cooled and hardened lava flow on the northeastern slope of Mt. Iwate. The lava was from the 1732 explosion, and stretches for about 3 km, reaching a width of about 1.5 km at the lower end. Even after 280 years, no plant life grows on the barren black rocks which form a layer of about 5 to 10 meters thick. There are lava blocks of various sizes, from those that fit the palm of your hand to those with diameters of over 1 m; you are not allowed to take one home because they are national natural monuments. There is a 1-km walkway on the lava; a round-trip will take about two hours. There are facilities such as a campground, a hot spring, and a restaurant nearby.

Sacred mountain with various shapes and diverse climbing trails
Mt. Iwate, one of mountains representing Hachimantai region, has been familiar as a mountain of faith to people since ancient times, and it is popular with many climbers still today. It shows various scenes depending on angle of view. Also known as “Nanbu-Katafuji” (the Nanbu domain’s mountain with one side of the flank shape uniquely resembling Mt. Fuji), it is famous especially for its beautifully spreading skirt of the east ridge and the rugged west ridgeline.
On Mt. Iwate, there are seven unique climbing trails. The feature here is that a variety of climbing experiences can be enjoyed depending on how you combine climbing and descending routes. From the top, a whole view of wide-ranging Northern Tohoku region can be seen. And the numerous stone Buddha statues as well as the Inner Sanctuary of Iwatesan-jinja Shrine transmit a tradition of mountain worship to the present day.

Mt. Iwate - Umagaeshi Course with snow
Mt. Iwate is the highest mountain in Iwate Prefecture at 2,038m. There are numerous paths to the summit, and the Umagaeshi Course is one of the most popular.
While Mt. Iwate officially opens on July 1st, many people hike it throughout the year.

It was an absolutely magical sight!
Toshichi Wild Spa, Iwate, Japan
A hot bath that's a little on the wild side! Actually, it's on the side of a volcano and there's steam and boiling water bubbling out of the ground everywhere. The Toshichi wild hot springs are located in the Iwate Prefecture in the Hachimantai mountains about 1 hour from Morioka City.
Typhoon Hagibis
October 13, 2019 the super typhoon was already gone this afternoon 2 pm. Typhoon Hagibis causes damage across Japan but we are thankful that we are safe and no damage here in my hometown. Many in chiba houses was damaged and many people died. Lets pray for the recovery of Japan.

Mount Iwate (岩手山, Iwate-san) is a stratovolcano complex in the Ōu Mountains of western Iwate Prefecture, in the Tōhoku region of northern Honshū, Japan. With an elevation of 2,038 metres (6,686 ft), it is the highest in Iwate Prefecture. It is included as one of the 100 famous mountains in Japan, a book composed in 1964 by mountaineer and author Kyūya Fukada. The mountain is on the borders of the municipalities of Hachimantai, Takizawa, and Shizukuishi, west of the prefectural capital of Morioka. Much of the mountain is within the borders of the Towada-Hachimantai National Park. The mountain is also referred to as the Nanbu Fuji for its resemblance to Mount Fuji.
Rubber Boat race in Japan
The Kitakami River Rubber Boat race is an annual event held on the 4th Sunday of July in Morioka, Iwate. The race starts just below the Shijuushida Dam, and ends at the Kaiun Bridge in front of Morioka Station. The participants end the journey at the Minami Ohashi . Every year over 500 teams participate in that thrilling event, making it the biggest rubber boat race in Japan and one of the biggest in the world.
