Train
Tourist brochures promoting visits to Mount Mitake point out that the mountain is only a 90 minute train trip away from central Tokyo - Central Tokyo meaning Shinjuku Station and the 90 minutes presumes a well-planned itinerary. From Tokyo Station or Shinjuku Station, take the Chuo Line to Ome Station and change there to the Ome Line. Alternatively, take the Chuo Line to Tachikawa and change there to the Ome Line.
From Ome Station, only about one train per hour goes to Mitake / Okutama.
From Mitake Station, take bus number 10 to Cable Shita (280 yen).
Walk from the Cable Shita bus stop to Takimoto Station and take the cable car. The cable car return trip fare is: adults 1,110 yen, children 560 yen. One-way trip: adults 590 yen, children 300 yen.
The cable car operates from 7.30am to 6.30pm.

Discover Japan:Virtual Trip To Mt.Mitake (御岳山 Mitake-san)
Mount Mitake (御岳山 Mitake-san?) is a mountain in the Chichibu Tama Kai National Park near Tokyo, Japan. It stands 929 m (3,048 ft) tall. On the mountain is a Shinto shrine.
It is one of the many highlights of the Chichibu Tama Kai National Park, which covers more than 1,250 km2 (483 sq mi) of forested mountains, hills, gorges and some rural towns in the prefectures of Yamanashi, Saitama, Nagano and Tokyo.
The trip from Tokyo's Shinjuku Station to Mitake Station on the Ōme Line takes about 95 minutes.
A shuttle bus, located 50 meters to the left of Mitake Station, travels to Takimoto village every half hour between 07:30 to 18:00. From Takimoto village, the Mitake-Tozan Railway cable car operates every half hour between 07:30 to 18:30 and leads to Mitakesan village at its top. Mitake summit and the Musashi-Mitake Shrine (武蔵御嶽神社 Musashi Mitake Jinja?) can then be reached by trail—approximately 1000 meters.
Many hikers access the mountain via Kori Station (two stops past Mitake Station from Ome). There is a hiking trail that takes approximately two and half hours to reach the summit, which passes Otsukayama (920 metres).
There is also a festival every year on May 8.
Autumn in Tokyo - Mitake Gorge and Mt Mitake [HD]
Spent the morning wandering around Mitake Gorge then headed up to Mt Mitake in the afternoon. Unfortunately left it too late to make it to the summit. The autumn colours had already passed their peak by the time I got there, but still a stunning place to visit.

Overlooking Mitake village and its gorge, Mt Mitake hosts on its top (929m) ryokan, houses and the beautiful Musashi Mitake Shrine. According to legend, the Musashi temple was erected over 2000 years ago, and features some gorgeous stone statues of Inari Wolf. Still according to the legend, it is said that Prince Yamato Takeru, the son of Japan’s 12th Emperor got lost in the forest of Mt Mitake after a demon transformed himself into a wild stag and led the Prince off a path. Lost and cold, the Prince was led to safety by a giant White Wolf. It is only after the prince went back home that he decided to proclaim the wolf as a deity and official guardian and protector of Mount Mitake.

Walking Trail - Okutama Area (Ikusabata To Mitake Station)

2015.10.29 Oume(青梅), Japan(日本) (Part 2)
Part 2 of the hike up Mount Mitake in Japan. We are still in Tokyo (東京) prefecture and the Kanto (関東) area. As said in the previous episode; in the morning we woke up early to get to Mount Mitake (御岳山), where we can do a little hiking. This is one of the day trips that you can take from Tokyo, and is about a 45 minute train ride from Shinjuku (新宿). Getting to the mountain is pretty much where the previous movie ends.We continue onto the Nanayo Falls (七代の滝) via the Mount Mitake Shrine. Unfortunately, we were unable to see Tokyo from the top of the mountain because of the clouds/fog, but it was still a beautiful area. Finally, we descended via the Mitake Tozen Railway Cable Car (御岳登山鉄道). When we got back into Tokyo city, we had some sushi at a place introduced to us by Vloggers: Kyde & Eric (link below).

Climbing Mt Mitake-Mt Hinode [Japan Vlog]
First hike in a long time! Greatly underestimated the sheer crowd on a foliage season Sunday. Also somewhat underestimated the amount of effort (especially given my long-untested heavy bones) it took to skip both the bus and the cable car and hike all the way from the station, but the sights along the way were great. A long, great day of innumerable trees, mossy rocks, bustling shrines, blazing foliage, and onsen!
Not sure I'm gonna keep doing this, but I'll be vlogging my way through my Japan trip for as long as I don't get bored of it I guess.

THE BEST HIKE OF MY LIFE - 6 hours alone on Tokyo mountains - Mt Mitake 御岳山 & Mt. Otake 大岳山
Had an unreal time trail running and hiking Mt. Mitake(御岳山) and surrounding peaks including the spectacular Mt. Otake(大岳山). Got some ridiculous views of Fuji from the summit of Otake and was luck enough to run on some world class single track all by myself. Tokyo Off Beaten Path, Autumn at Mt. Mitake, Tama-gawa River
Autumn in Tokyo, away from crowds.
Nice stroll around Tama-gawa river to view autumn leaves, just about 30 mins train ride from Tokyo Station. Easily can be done in a day trip from Tokyo. Great to escape the hustle of city and have a relaxing walk and gaze upon autumn leaves.

7 Days In Tokyo | Mount Mitake - Super Eerie Hike!
Went to Mt Mitake instead of Mt Fuji since apparently it's a bad season to go because of rock falls and all the other hazards. Didn't get to explore the mountain as much as I would like because I left at 1PM. Got there at like half past 3. And it was getting dark real quick.
You'll see...
