Here is a quick look at the 2010 bike route for the Oita Charity Bike Ride.
We will be stopping at the Marine Culture Center ( in Saiki, Oita-ken on day one. On day two we will stop in Ume at 唄げんかの里 うめキャンプ村( ampmura.htm).
The course is about 240km covered over three days. The route starts hugging the gorgious coastline of Oita and Miyazaki and then heads inland through valleys and long rivers with mountains on either side. It is a great way to experience parts of Japan that you couldn't see without a bike or local knowledge. Riders are supported by volunteers in cars positioned along the route. The fee to join is 1万5千円. It includes 2 nights stay and 2 breakfasts and dinners, snack packs, and support. Riders and volunteers are asked to raise money for the charity too.
