Berg Lake Trail, Mt Robson, BC, Canada in 4K (Ultra HD)
Berg Lake Trail is frequently quoted as one of the finest trails in the Canadian Rockies and in North America.
The trail to Robson Pass is 46 km / 28 mi round trip. We had to add to this the Mumm Basin-Hargreaves Glacier trail, which provides stunning views to Berg Lake and Berg Glacier, some 2000 m / 6,560 ft under Mt Robson summit.
Amazing hike, my only dissatisfaction was with the air - not clear that day because of distan fires in the Rockies (quite visible in the far away shots of Mt Robson).
Main locations, as shown in the video (first appearance, if many): Mt Robson (0:05), Robson River (0:25), Kinney Lake (0:39), Valley of a Thousand Falls (0:48), Falls of the Pool (1:52), Emperor Falls (2:19), Mist Glacier (2:39), Berg Lake (2:55), Berg Glacier (3:08) Views from Mumm Basin trail (4:03), Robson Glacier (4:10 on the left), Hargreaves Glacier and Lake (5:17), Mt Robson from the Visitors Center (5:50).

Berg Lake Trail, Mt Robson, BC, Canada
My husband's first ever backpacking trip. Probably one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. Lakes, mountains, iceberg, and waterfall upon waterfall. A tough climb to the top!

mount robson - king of the rockies
A three-day climb of the Emperor Ridge (V, 5.7, AI3) on Mt Robson, 3954m, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. The climb demands a river crossing, bush bash, and technical skills on steep rock, snow and ice, while talking in strange Russian accents.

Mt. Robson Kain Face Solo
Kain Face Via the Patterson Spur, July 14-15, 2018 (2 days car-to-car):
The upper half of the Patterson spur was nice and dry, making the steeper 4th class sections very straightforward. The Robson-Resplendent ridge was also mostly dry, and getting to the Dome was easy with good snow cover on the glacier.
A lot of people are curious about the upper ridge traverse and whether or not roped pitches are needed, my opinion is that anyone comfortable on exposed 4th class terrain with a big pack on will be completely fine unroped here.
Lots of questions on “how do you solo on glaciers”, I had extremely fortunate travel conditions and I probed literally every step of the way when on glacier. Do not attempt glacier travel unroped (or climb solo for that matter) unless you are 100% sure of what you’re doing and the conditions are prime for it.
My bivvy at the Dome was unfortunately mostly sleepless due to the intense wind that night. Clear, windless skies the next morning when I reached the summit more than made up for it though-
One of the highlights of the whole trip was the 20 minutes it took to coast from Kinney Lake back to the parking lot on my bike. So much more enjoyable than death-marching these 4-5km on foot after all that Robson entails!
Canada's Mt Robson: Hiking the Berg Lake Trail and Snowbird Pass
Hiking the Berg Lake Trail over four days was one of the highlights of our time in Canada.
This incredible trail leads right up to Berg Lake and the Berg Glacier at the foot of the majestic Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies.
A 21 km out-and-back hike to Berg lake, we added on the epic 24 km Snowbird Pass day hike while we were up there which really made the trip for us - it was so varied, with amazing views the entire route as you will see.
