Air dose rate 0.4-0.7 microSv/h Mt. Shinobu of Fukushima city Nov. 2015
On 7th Nov., 2015, I monitored radiation at Mt. Shinobu of Fukushima city, Fukushima prefecture, Japan.
I monitored the air dose rate 0.37 or 0.45 micro Sievert per hour in front of Haguro shrine located on the sumit.
And the air dose rate0.52 or 0.72 micro Sievert per hour at on the approach to the shrine, whare the fallen leaves accumulated (where the radioactive material has accumulated).
Fukushima City has a population of about 290,000.
The monitoring place is 55 or 60km (34 or 37mi) from Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear power plant.
Measuring instrument is made of Ukraine, ECOTEST MKS-05. and Aircounter made by ST corp.

4-5 microSv/h Depression of Mt. Ippai-mori, Fukushima city Feb. 2016
On 27th feb., 2016, I monitored radiation arround Mt. Ippai-mori of Moriai area, Fukushima city, Fukushima prefecture, Japan.
Moriai is a housing area located nearby the center of Fukushima city.
Mt. Ippai-mori(Altitude 113 m) is located at the west foot of Mt. Shinobu(Altitude 275 m) , a symbol of Fukushima city.
Atago shrine is located at the top of Mt. Ippaimori. and a temple is at the southern foot.
I monitored the air dose rate 0.36 or 0.37 micro Sievert per hour at a trail of the forest where fallen leaves accumulated.
0.26 or 0.27 micro Sievert per hour arround Atago shrine at the top of Mt. Ippai-mori, where decontaminated.
And the monitor indivated 4 or 5 micro Sievert per hour in a depression at the back of the shrine, a place where fallen leaves accumulate and where radioactive materials accumulated.
At the southern foot of Mt. Ippai-mori, tennis courts are provided to the public.
I monitored the air dose rate 0.18 micro Sievert per hour arround the tennis courts.
Fukushima City has a population of about 285,000 people as of Feb. 2016.
The monitoring place is 55 or 60km (34 or 37mi) from Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear power plant.
Measuring instrument is made of Ukraine, ECOTEST MKS-05.

Air dose rate 0.4-0.9 microSv/h Hiking trails of Mt. Ryozen, Fukushima Nov. 2015
On 7th Nov., 2015, I monitored radiation along the hiking trails of Mt. Ryozen, Date city of Fukushima pref, Japan.
I monitored the air dose rate 0.4 or 0.6 micro Sievert per hour in the whole area of the hiking trail I walked for 1 hour.
And the air dose rate 0.7 or 0.9 micro Sievert per hour along the trail, where the fallen leaves accumulated (where the radioactive material has accumulated).
On this day, Mt. Ryozen was crowded with many climbers who enjoy the Autumn leaves.
Japanese government and Fukushima Prefecture authorities have to advertise to people as radioactivity is not dangerous.
Also mass media such as newspapers and TV is cooperating with the campaign.
People who have been deceived in the campaign, continue to live in a place that has been contaminated with radioactivity.
People, as leisure time on holidays, also go out to the more contaminated location.
The monitoring place is 48km or 30mi from Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear power plant.
Measuring instrument is made of Ukraine, ECOTEST MKS-05. and Aircounter made by ST corp. Japan.

What is it like in Fukushima today? Interview with Steve Terada
The nuclear accident at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant has left the Fukushima Prefecture with a negative lasting impression, but things are not as they were in 2011. Steve Terada actually moved to Fukushima City to investigate how the region has fared since 2011. What he found was negative perceptions which are just not true and set on a quest to show the world what Fukushima is like today.
Original video can be seen here:
Craig,
Happy New Year!
The next three paragraphs is from a follow-up email from Steve Terada. He outlines some information about the black decontamination bag situation.
The link below gives an overview of status, process, etc. I took a tour of the Interim Storage Facility on August 23 so I'm up to speed on it. As the info at the link below explains, at Dec 12 about 37% of the total of black bags from throughout the prefecture has been moved out of neighborhoods to the ISF. The bags are/were eyesores and reminders of the contamination from the nuclear accident. The ISF straddles the towns of Futaba and Okuma, the same towns that host the Daiichi Nuclear Power Station. The mayor of Futaba explained his decision to host the ISF as explained in the following excerpt from one of my articles published in Hawaii. Some of his townspeople were against it, of course, but he was the one who made the decision so Fukushima Prefecture could move forward in its revitalization.
Futaba Town is co-host of the government’s Interim Storage Facility for Removed Soil and Waste, and Mayor Izawa said that hosting it was an extremely difficult and painful decision. He said accepting the nuclear waste storage site benefitted all of Fukushima because if no town or village agreed to host the site, Fukushima’s revitalization could not proceed. He also expressed a desire to help the many cites that helped his people, but who were burdened with stored contaminated waste.
Fukushima Interim Storage Facility ISF
From Fukushima City where I live I send you two pictures taken at Mt. Shinobu Park (yes the park with the kids playground and radiation measuring device). The one showing black bags stuffed on the site was February 2019 and the second was Sep 19 with most of the bags removed. This is progress. I noted radiation readings of 0.13 microsieverts per hour at the kid's playground despite the proximity to the black storage bag site.

Shocking: Nuclear Dumps & Fukushima Fallout (Gundersen & Kaltofen)
In this video, Mr. Gundersen and Dr. Kaltofen take a look at the currently raging underground fire in the St. Louis area, from which Dr. Kaltofen has studied at least 350 samples during the past 2-years. Dr. Kaltofen draws our attention to the 1950s chemical explosion at the Kyshtym nuclear waste facility in Russia, a rarely discussed nuclear disaster whose repercussions continue to haunt the health and lives of people living in Kyshtym’s fall-out area today. From the cracking, leaking Hanford site threatening the Columbus River to plutonium and americium found in house dust from the homes of people living near the Rocky Flats Nuclear Arsenal in Rocky Flats, Colorado, Mr. Gundersen and Dr. Kaltofen concur that no country is managing nuclear waste. Arguably one of the worst releases of radiation into the environment was in New Mexico, at a place called Church Rock that borders Navajo Nation. At Church Rock, a 20-foot breach in a dam allowed acidic water containing uranium mill tailings to enter Puerco River and contaminate 70 miles of crucial desert water flowing through Navajo land.
Mr. Gundersen and Dr. Kaltofen highlight a chilling truth: the threat of economic strain and financial burden hardly touches the lasting devastation to people and the environment that atomic energy and the nuclear industry impose throughout every link in the nuclear power fuel chain.
We at Fairewinds Energy Education want to thank you for being a part of our amazing community. If you believe in our mission to speak truth to power by educating people about the true risk of atomic reactors in the hope of a safer, cleaner, greener powered tomorrow – please donate to Fairewinds today. America's Nuclear Legacy- More than 6,000 Nuclear Dumps...and Counting November 17, 2015
As governments and nations work towards a fossil free energy future, a strong push by the nuclear industry for an atomic energy future is making its way into global energy power discussions around the world.
Apart from the economic weakness of an atomic power future as well as the enormous risk of meltdowns and radioactive contamination from atomic reactors, what the nuclear industry fails to mention is their total inability to properly manage and dispose of the highly toxic waste created by the nuke industry that threatens humanity for hundreds of thousands of years.
In Fairewinds’ latest video, Chief Engineer Arnie Gundersen and Dr. Marco Kaltofen, nuclear forensics expert and president of Boston Chemical Data Corporation, discuss major problems that continue to plague radioactive waste dumps with toxic releases that impact people and the environment in the United States and abroad.
Atomic garbage has piled-up more than 70-years high, beginning with the first atom bomb testing in the American Southwest, and the nuclear industry has failed to safely “take the trash out.”

The New York Times argues that the evacuations were unnecessary and caused these unnecessary deaths. This argument claims that people in the exclusion zone were/are exposed to negligible amounts of radiation, even though scientific studies do not corroborate this fallacy.

Official Report: Fukushima affecting radiation levels in U.S. — Recent elevated measurements “a direct result” of 2011 nuclear disaster — “Florida is experiencing Cesium-137 deposition” — “Not unusual” to detect Fukushima fallout in citrus fruit. Annual Radiological Environmental Operating Report to U.S. NRC), May 5, 2015. In 2011 there were positively measured results of iodine and cesium… These measurements are a direct result of [the] Fukushima nuclear plants… The Japanese event also affected broad leaf vegetation sample media throughout the year as long-lived radionuclides (Cs-137) were released at Fukushima multiple times.
The vegetation measurements in 2014 are still affected by the Fukushima event due to the long-lived radionuclides deposited. The vegetation control sample station located in Orlando, Fl. is also experiencing similar Cs-137 deposition on the broad leaf sample media…In 2014, sixteen of twenty four indicator [vegetation] samples had measurable amounts of cesium-137 [up to] 159 pCi/kg… The cesium-137 values are similar in concentration as compared to samples collected in 2013 which experienced radionuclide deposition as a result of the Fukushima earthquake event…
In 2013, fifteen of twenty four indicator samples had measurable amounts of cesium-137 [up to] 147 pCi/kg… Orlando, Fl. also had measurable amounts of cesium-137 [up to] 258 pCi/kg. The cesium-137 values are similar in concentration as compared to samples collected in 2012 which experienced radionuclide deposition as a result of the Fukushima earthquake event…
In 2012, thirteen of twenty four indicator samples had measurable amounts of cesium-137 [up to] 172 pCi/kg… Orlando, Fl. also had measurable amounts of cesium-137 [up to] 201 pCi/kg. The cesium-137 values are similar in concentration as compared to samples collected in 2011 which experienced radionuclide deposition as a result of the Fukushima earthquake event…
In 2014… Cs-137 (in grapefruit) at a concentration of 4 pCi/kg. It is not unusual to periodically see Cs-137 in citrus samples due to widespread deposition of Cs-137 from fallout due to past weapons testing and more recent from the Fukushima earthquake and tsunami event…
Broad Leaf Vegetation [samples taken during 2014 with] elevated Cs-137 values… are a direct result of the Fukushima earthquake and tsunami event that occurred in 2011.

So that’s why it’s definitely a very unique situation.” He says all three whales were juvenile males, two of them likely younger than two-years-old… He says there were no bite marks on the carcasses, or any signs of boat strike either. Cottrel says the DFO conducted a necropsy, but found no obvious cause of death.
