Amazing day trip from Tokyo - climbing Mount Takao! Beautiful scenery, super-fun chairlift, waterfall & watermelon ice cream! This was one of the highlights of the trip & I hope you enjoy the vlog!
Mount Takao is less than an hour from Tokyo by train, and it's the most climbed mountain in the world. However there weren't many foreign tourists there, and it's not in many lists of things to do near Tokyo, so I wanted to share it with you! You can take a chairlift or cable car up the mountain, and there's a choice of trails on the way up and down. I'd highly recommend it! Latte went to Mount Takao, a 599 meters high mountain located in the city of of Hachiōji, Tokyo, Japan. Mount Takao is associated with Shinto-buddhist as a temple is built on the mountain for good fortune.

Take a Trip to Takao: Tokyo’s Favorite Mountain.
Mount Takao (高尾山, Takaosan) is one of the closest natural recreation areas to central Tokyo, offering beautiful scenery, an interesting temple and attractive hiking opportunities.
Another attraction along trail number 1 is a monkey park. The park's glass walled enclosure is home to about 40 Japanese macaques that put on shows at various times throughout the day. A wild flower garden with 500 different types of plants is also part of the monkey park and can be viewed with the same admission ticket.
Mount Takao is also a good place to see cherry blossoms a couple of weeks after those in central Tokyo.
Access
Keio Railways offer the cheapest and fastest connections to Takaosan. Direct semi-limited express trains, which take about 50 minutes and 390 yen, leave the underground Keio Shinjuku station every 20 minutes. Takaosanguchi Station, the train's terminal station, is located at the foot of the mountain.
Alternatively, the JR Chuo Line connects Shinjuku to Takao Station (550 yen, about 40 minutes), where you must transfer to the Keio Line and ride one more station to Takaosanguchi Station (130 yen, 3 minutes).

Mt Takao chair lift, Japan summer 2016,
40 min. from Tokyo Bay and close to Mizuho (Yokota Airbase); this video shows viewers what it is like to ride up the mountain on the chair lift (lazy) and to take the cable car down the mountain. I consider myself athletic, yet the trails and hike around the mountain can last several hours without taking the lift....

Lets Visit Mount Takao (高尾山) 2017 WINTER
Yeah!!! Decided to hike at Takaosan so I waked darn early in the morning before meetinh my fwend at Shinjuku. Took an hour long train to Takaosanguchi Station and just continue on the adventure. There is multiple trails up the mountain and eventually all will end at the summit and you can pay to take the chair lift or cablecar up to around 1/3 of the mountain. You should try the chair lift cos I loved it a lot. The place is nice and a good change from the busy parts of Tokyo.

Mt. Takao (Takao-san) is a mountain easily accesible from Tokyo. I visited in mid-November, which is the best time to see the fall colors.

On the 13th of March I took a trip to Mount Takao, which is a mountain not far from Tokyo in Japan, during my vacation there. When you start your adventure there, you can choose to ride a cable car, a chair lift (which I chose) or walk the first part. After that there are a few routes to the top, they are either short, middle or longer distances.

Hiking ????to the top takes around 90 minutes, but time can be cut in half by utilizing the cable car???? or chair lift???? that lead halfway up the mountain. Mount Takao offers several activities besides the hiking, you can visit the temple⛩️, a monkey park????, an onsen♨️ and a museum.????

Mount Takao DAY TRIP!
Mount Takao is a short train ride from Tokyo and an amazing place to watch the leaves change colour and also go hiking during the autumn/winter months. We went on culture day which is a public holiday in Japan, hence the crowds.
Sadly I wasn't able to narrate this video due to having a cold when it came to editing... and no voice at all. So I came up with a different way of describing the day trip.

Let's walk down from Mount Takao (高尾山) 2017 WINTER
I think I chosen the wrong route to descend the mountain but eventually I still make it to the foot of the mountain. It a LONG SLOWASS journey. Took me around an jour and a half and the route was rocky and treacherous!! One of my most eventful morning trip I had for this Japan Trip.

Western Tokyo: Mount Takao in Spring
This video is only a few months too late. It's about the time the duck and I decided to walk up Mt. Takao during cherry blossom season! Let me tell you, though: it's a terrible idea to attempt climbing up a mountain (even a tiny one such as Mt. Takao) if you're wearing a face mask to shield yourself from the evil pollen but at the same time have a fitness level of about -100 (not to mention all those steps) which makes you crave every bit of fresh unfiltered air... fun times!
