TheSummergirl_ISLAND PARADISE, Mu Ko Surin National Park, Thailand
A short vlog about the most memorable summer trip to Mu Ko Surin National Park, Thailand, which is only open to public for half a year during the dry season. Without any phone signal and 4 hours of weak wifi a day, I got the peace and quiet I very much needed here, cut off from the busy everyday life in the city.
No email to bother me during vacation, no unwanted news from people, no alerts and alarms from all sorts of apps in my phone.
The desertedness aside, Surin was perfect for its innate beauty, the untouched water and sand, amazing greenery and everything that human possibly could want from mother nature.
I so miss it and hope to revisit soon, for longer days and nights.

Thailand 2018 (17th day. Mu Ko Surin - Khura Buri - Takua Pa.Return from the island.) 24.12.18

Part 4 ... Scuba diving the Similan & Surin Islands, Thailand with Catherine Annis & Robert Annis
Scuba diving in and around the Similan and Surin Islands, Thailand
Surin Islands
The Surin Islands is an archipelago of five islands of the Andaman Sea, located 55 km from the Thai mainland. Administratively, the islands are part of Tambon Ko Phra Thong, Amphoe Khura Buri, in the Phang Nga Province of Thailand.
The Mu Ko Surin National Park covers the area of the islands and their surrounding waters. The park is home to one of the most famous dive sites in the world, Richelieu Rock, famous for its incomparable variety and abundance of marine life. Whale shark sightings are not uncommon here. In addition the islands feature pristine reefs, making it home to some of the best snorkeling in Thailand.
Similan Islands
The Similan national park is famous for its dive sites. It has typically two different kinds of diving. East side diving consists of gently sloping coral reefs with sandy patches and the occasional boulder in between. The west side is known for its huge underwater granite boulders with numerous swim-throughs. Maybe the most famous east side dive site is East of Eden, off Island number 7. Elephant head rock is arguably the most famous west side dive site with a maze of swim-throughs and the reputation for spin-cycle like currents running in every direction.
Elephant head rock was named by Horst Hinrichs from Germany in the mid 70s, founder of one of the oldest dive shops in Phuket, Santana Diving.
Other popular dive sites include North Point, Deep Six, Boulder City and the awesome pinnacles off Koh Bon and Koh Tachai.
Great footage of leopard sharks, cuttle fish, moray eel, lion fish, stone fish,
leopard moray eel, spotted moray eel and so much more.
Thailand 2018 (16th day. Mu Ko Surin. Drone. No filter) 23.12.18

Mu Koh Surin - Island Life
Thailand Explorer: Mu Koh Surin - Island Life
Mu Koh Surin is located on the northern rim of the Andaman Sea, and only 8 km. from the Thailand-Myanmar border. Getting to Mu Koh Surin isn't easy, being 50 kilometers off the coast of Thailand, you have to catch a ride on a fast moving ferry which takes a full two hours from the mainland. The ferry leaves from a pier in Khura Buri, more than 700 kilometers from Bangkok, which is also the mainland headquarters for the park.
Mu Ko Surin is where Thailand's tropical rain forest come in contact with the largest, most amazing, life abundant, shallow water coral reef. Mu Ko Surin is the best place for snorkeling in Thailand, with rich marine life such as sea turtles and many varieties of marine life. Mu Koh Surin consists of two main islands, Ko Surin Nua and Ko Surin Tai (north and south) and have more than 10 bays renowned for the most beautiful shallow coral reefs. Thailand keeps the island rustic, limiting the number of visitors and the types of boats allowed into the shallow waters. There are a few nice bungalows on the island but most who visit stay for a few days in tents enjoying the quiet island breezes up close and personal.
As a cultural site of interest, there is a community of Sea Gypsies who still live their traditional lifestyle according to the life abundant local seas. These Sea Gypsies are called the Morgan and they continue to live a primitive life in their houseboats and inhabit Ko Surin Tai beach which is opposite to the national park office. You will find carved wood sculptures similar to an American Indian totem which is a Morgan tradition.
