A little more about Mudgee from Wikipedia:
Mudgee /ˈmʌdʒi/ is a town in the Central West of New South Wales, Australia. It is in the broad fertile Cudgegong River valley 261 kilometres north-west of Sydney. Mudgee is at the centre of the Mid-Western Regional Council local government area. At the 2011 census, Mudgee had a population of 9,830 people.
The Mudgee district lies across the edge of the geological structure known as the Sydney Basin.
Mudgee has developed as a wine producing region and is therefore dependent on wine manufacturing as a major part of its economy. It is also heavily dependent on several major mines in the surrounding area.
Other rural produce includes cattle, sheep, wheat, alfalfa, olives, fruit, tomatoes, corn, honey, and dairy products. These, however, do not play as major a role as the mining industry.
The Ulan coal mines are in the district. During the 19th century, the area was a major goldmining area and the district also produces marble, pottery clays, shale and dolomite. These mines have further potential to expand in the region, however they are also the topic of local environmental concerns.
Tourism is also a growing industry based largely on the wineries.
A laboratory was established in 1987 to test meat for pesticide residues.
Local real estate, petrol and living costs skyrocketed since 2010 when the mining boom began to peak. This has rolled onto the local population, who have since had increased difficulty in living in the town.
Hope you learnt something new folks look forward to catching you next Friday with a new adventure!

INTA NSW 2012 Mudgee Highlights
A great weekend was had by all in Mudgee for the 2012 CountryLink Inland NSW Tourism Awards.
For over nine years -- it's been the night to celebrate, unite and reward... And the 2012 CountryLink Inland NSW Tourism Awards -- did just that!
This year's host town Mudgee providing a picture-perfect platform...
With entrants from four regional tourism areas of NSW including Central, Inland, Murray and the Riverina, the ceremony was packed... with over 40 excited finalists waiting to see if they'd nabbed an award.
The annual event proudly hosted by CountryLink, is a major tourism industry affair for Inland NSW.
It provides tourism organisations and individuals the opportunity to gain an insight into their industry and business, achieve recognition for their success and promote tourism within their region.
Karin Groth said, One of the challenges that we have in tourism is that we are often working in small to medium size businesses and what that means is that we are busy working in our business and not working on our business. So the Awards provide an opportunity for businesses to actually reflect on the achievements of the past 12 months and also identifying where they want to go.
The prestigious evening is growing with over 27 categories this year... ranging from standard accommodation, tourist attractions... to tourism marketing...
While some are regular faces on the stage, others are first-timers... but all were superbly proud and all deserving.
And it doesn't stop there, winners of the CountryLink Inland NSW Tourism Awards are now a step closer to the NSW Tourism Awards, further recognising and showcasing the State's finest tourism operators.
But that's not before a winner's breakfast at Robert Oatley Winery the morning after.
While this year's awards might be over, the countdown is already on for 2013 -- with host town Moree getting
ready for the action.
Why not become involved and join us as we celebrate our tenth year in 2013. If you'd like to see the full list of winners, find out about workshops coming to your area, application information or how the awards can benefit and boost your business, then head to inlandtourismawards.com.au
