Excerpt from Simla Scenes: Indian Viceroy at Lahore (1931)
Intimate 1931 footage of the servant culture and lifestyle of the Viceroy of India and family: visiting Simla and Lahore.
Intimate 1931 footage of life as the Viceroy and family in Simla, the hill station summer capital of the Raj. They travel by man-drawn rickshaw, car and train to Lahore, the capital of pre-partition Punjab. Possibly shot by Col. Taylor, Chief Engineer to North Western Railways, Lahore, the hill railways are a particular feature, as is the mock-Tudor high street built under the Raj.

Jodhpur City Guide | India Travel Video in Rajasthan
Join us as we visit Jodhpur in this city travel guide covering the best things to do in the 'Blue City' of Rajasthan, India. Our travel video in Rajasthan (राजस्थान ਰਾਜਸਥਾਨ) covering the 'sun city' focusses on visiting Mehrangarh Fort (मेहरानगढ़ का दुर्ग) for some incredible views of the city and heading over to the Sardar Market (सरदार बाजार) nearby the Ghanta Ghar clock tower of Rajasthan where you can find great places to shop and grab Rajasthani cuisine (राजस्थानी खाना) and a saffron lassi. We especially recommend Jhankar restaurant where we had the best Rajasthani Thali (थाली) and regular Thali during our entire India travels. Jodhpur (जोधपुर) is also worth exploring on foot or tuk-tuk where you can just get lost down the myriad of colorful alleys. For dinner we suggest rooftop views at a restaurant where you can clearly see Mehrangarh Fort (मेहरानगढ़ का दुर्ग) lit up at night. It is just as spectacular by night as it is by day.
Things to do in Jodhpur Travel Guide:
1) Mehrangarh Fort (मेहरानगढ़ का दुर्ग) for incredible views of Jodphur
2) Mehrangarh Fort (मेहरानगढ़ का दुर्ग) for souvenir shopping, lunch and visiting museums
3) Autorickshaw ride around Jodhpur to really experience 'The Blue City'
4) Rajasthani cuisine (राजस्थानी खाना) ordering Rajasthani Thali (थाली) and saffron lassi (लस्सी)
5) Visit Ghanta Ghar clock tower of Rajasthan and Sardar Market (सरदार बाजार) for shopping, people watching and great food
Rajasthan (राजस्थान ਰਾਜਸਥਾਨ)
6) JHANKAR Choti Haveli Restaurant for our favorite Indian food in Jodhpur
7) Rooftop dining for views of Mehrangarh Fort (मेहरानगढ़ का दुर्ग) at night

Jodhpur City Guide | India Travel Series in Rajasthan Video Transcript:
Our first stop in Jodhpur was Mehrangarh Fort, which is one of the biggest forts in India. The fort sits on a rocky hill overlooking the city and it pretty much dominates the skyline with its imposing walls. Admission to the fort itself is free, but if you’ve come all the way here, you’ll want to pay the admission to visit the palaces which now act as a museum.
Within the fort (मेहरानगढ़ का दुर्ग) you can also visit the ramparts, see the old cannons, and get some overhead views of the city which will quickly help you realize why Jodhpur (जोधपुर) is nicknamed the Blue City.
Then, after all that food and drink, it was finally time to get lost in the blue maze that is Jodhpur.
So right now we have ended up at the Sardar Market (सरदार बाजार) just around the clock tower (Ghanta Ghar). And I would say this is both a local market and a tourist market. You can get produce and like everyday things. Yeah, you see a lot of everyday like market stalls but you also see some more ones that are geared for tourists such as the ones where you can souvenirs, carpets and saris.
Jhankar in Jodhpur (जोधपुर). Oh, it was so good Actually it was one of the best meals we've had in India so far. Yeah. So we are heading back there for dinner. And it is all about Thali (थाली) tonight. We are going to get an original Thali (थाली) and a Rajasthani Thali (राजस्थानी खाना). Because we are in Rajasthan (राजस्थान ਰਾਜਸਥਾਨ) and they have a special Thali so we can't wait to try that out. Now it is off to find a little tuk-tuk. Alright, lead the way. Lead the way.
And that’s it for Jodhpur! Our two-day visit was short and sweet, but it was enough to get a taste of what the city is all about.
So that is a wrap from Jodhpur (जोधपुर). So we had a really good time in the Blue City. Um, it was only two days but I felt like we did quite a bit. Did you enjoy it? Yeah, the fort (मेहरानगढ़ का दुर्ग) was magnificent and the blue city was all it was supposed to be. Yes, so now we're moving on to Jaipur. We're just waiting at the train station. So we're going to catch our train. It is about a 6 hour journey. So relatively not too long but uh yeah can't wait to update you when we get there. Ciao for now.

Suspense: The Lodger
Often the two overlap. However, pure crime films/novels focus on a specific crime or set of crimes, and solving the mystery or tracking down the criminal(s), with no or little violence but more drama throughout. Thrillers are usually fiction-based and fast in pace, while crime fiction tend to be more leisurely paced, dramatic and realistic. Generally, violence is also lacking in a crime fiction, but this depends if the work is based on the mafia, where violence is intense.[17]
Some crime films showcase more on the gangster life, personal drama of the criminals and even their biographical film (i.e., The Godfather). Crime-thrillers, on the other hand, have more threat and suspense in them and may involve espionage (spying), frequent killings and other non-criminal conflicts (i.e., Heat). Unlike crime thrillers, crime films usually offer a more serious, grim and realistic portrayal of the criminal environment, emphasizing character development and complex narratives over suspense sequences, chase scenes and violence.[18]
In crime fiction, the hero might be a police officer, or a private eye, who can still be tough and resourceful. He is pitted against villains determined to destroy him, although, unlike in thrillers, not necessarily other people, the country or the stability of the free world. Unlike in crime fiction, thrillers keep the emphasis away from the gangster, melodrama or the detective in the crime-related plot, and rather focus more on the suspense and danger that is generated.
