京都にある向日神社にいってきました。たまたま還行祭に出くわしました。神様がかえってくるということで、神様の道が作ってありました。
お祭りの雰囲気というものはありませんでしたが、人がバタバタして忙しそうでした。自然が一杯で、気持ちよかったです。

Sakura (Cherry Blossoms) bloom for only about ten days or so in the Spring. In Tokyo and mid to southern Japan, the first week of April is said to be the best time to see fully bloomed Sakura many places. So, since this is the first week of April and my last week of break before I start school again at Waseda University, I decided almost spontaneously to take an ambitious rapid trip to get as many good pictures of Sakura as I can over a four day excursion.
I'm starting in Himeji (coming from Tokyo), and making my way back to Tokyo stop by stop. Among the basic places I'll be stopping over a mere four days are Himeji Castle gardens, Osaka Castle and gardens, Yoshinoyama (in Nara, 2hrs from Osaka), Kyoto, Hikone Castle, Nagoya Castle, and Yamanashi (where Mt. Fuji is!). I'm keeping a video journal/log during this trip! Today is day two!
Newly weds chucked off a mountain in Japanese ceremony
Three freshly married men were thrown off a hill-top in Niigata, Wednesday. The Mukonage ceremony took root over 300 years ago, when a disgruntled father threw his son in-law into the snow from a rooftop. The ceremony is now held to celebrate newlywed couples and to encourage husbands to treasure their wives. The men are plied with a fair amount of rice wine and spirits before their ascent and drop.
After the throwing ceremony, the crowd rushed to spectate the next event, one even more dangerous. The newlyweds set fire to a toweling bundle of rice husks filled with firecrackers for good luck.
As the husks have burnt to the ground, participants rub the ash into everyone's faces without exemption; the bride, groom, women, children, and policemen are all given a thick coating of face paint, even the cameramen.

日本 京都府京都市上京区 首途八幡宮を歩きました。
Kadode Hachiman-gu Shrine, Kamigyo-ku, Kyoto, Japan
首途八幡宮の「首途(かどで)」とは「出発」を意味する言葉であり、源義経奥州出発の地ともいわれています。
当時この地には商人・金売吉次の屋敷があったとされ、彼は奥州平泉へと向かう義経を手伝ったと伝えられています。
その際に社で道中の安全を祈願して出立したといわれることから、首途八幡宮と呼ばれるようになったとのことです。
そのため、旅立ちや旅行安全の神社としても知られています。

Dondo-Yaki is a fire festival usually held on January 15th marking the end of New year's celebrations.
People gather New Year's ornaments of the neighborhood and burn them in a big bonfire.
Spirits of the new year are supposed to go home with the smoke of this fire.

I was lucky enough to go to a fire festival (Dondoyaki) at Hontaki Temple in Nose (Osaka, Japan). Only 30 minutes from the city of Osaka, this is a beautiful temple up in the mountains and definitely worth adding to your Osaka bucket list!

Ine bay is well sheltered and the sea water is crystal clear and calm. An ancient, popular fishing village that sit around Ine bay and having a unique architecture setup and culture. Village had more than 150 years of history.
There are a number of sighting bays along the way down from the Ine Bay fishing village center. This village center is located about 2 kilometers from the Cruise boat jetty.

昨日と今日の暖かかったので、一気に開花が進み5部咲きという感じでした。6時前に南禅寺舟溜り乗船場を出発しました。日が暮れてきて夷川ダムから引き返す時には照明も点灯し、夕焼けがとても綺麗でした。船から見る桜と平安神宮の大鳥居はとても綺麗でした。今週末には満開でしょう。夜も乗船できます。HPからWEB予約もできますので、ぜひお出かけください。2017/4/5に撮影しました。
