MUKTESHWAR DHAM | PATHANKOT | WANDERLUST RIDER
Mukteshwar Temple is a popular shrine of Lord Shiva Lord Shivaand is also known as Mukesaran Mandir - located near Pathankot on Shahpur Kandi Dam road. It is the holy temple of the Hindu religion, where the idols of Lord Ganesha, Lord Bramha, Lord Vishnu, Lord Hanuman and Goddess Parvati are present. This temple is one of the most sacred places around Pathankot. There are some caves which date to the time of the Mahabharata. According to a legend, the Pandavas stayed in those caves for a night during their exile (Agayatwas). Locals say that these caves near the Mandir dates back to the period of the Mahabharata. These caves are on the way to Shahpur Kandi and is situated on the bank of the River Ravi, 22 km from Pathankot City in Shaupur Kandi at Doongh village.

पठानकोट शहर के शाहपुर कंडी बाँध के पास स्थित यह मुक्तेशवर महादेव मंदिर भगवान शिव के लोकप्रिय तीर्थ स्थलों में से एक है। इस हिन्दू धर्म के मंदिर में कई देवी, देवताओं की मूर्तियां स्थापित हैं।
मुक्तेश्वर महादेव धाम द्वापर युग में पांडवों द्वारा अपने वनवास के बारहवें वर्ष में स्थापित किया गया था। पांडव अपने प्रवास के क्रम में दसूहा जिला-होशियारपुर से होते हुए माता चिंतपूर्णी के दर्शन करते हुए आए तथा इस शांत एवं निर्जन स्थान को अपने निवास के लिए चुना।
मान्यता है कि वे इस स्थान पर करीब छ: मास तक रुके। पांडवों ने यहां पर पांच गुफाओं का निर्माण किया तथा एक रसोई घर भी बनाया। मुक्तेश्वर महादेव का शिवलिंग स्थापित कर उनसे होने वाले संभावित युद्ध के लिए वरदान भी प्राप्त किया। रसोई घर को आज द्रौपदी की रसोई के नाम से जाना जाता है। समय के कालक्रम में एक गुफा आज बंद हो चुकी है।
पांडव अपने अज्ञातवास के प्रारंभ होने से पहले रावी नदी पार कर के विराट राज्य की सीमा में प्रवेश कर गए जिसका केंद्र आज जम्मू-कश्मीर के अखनूर में माना जाता है। मुक्तेश्वर महादेव का वर्णन स्कंद पुराण में भी मिलता है। गुफा नं. 3 के ऊपरी भाग में चक्र अंकित है जिसके नीचे पांडव ध्यान, योग एवं क्रिया साधना किया करते थे।
प्रतिवर्ष महाशिवरात्रि, चैत्र चतुर्दशी, बैसाखी एवं सोमवती अमावस्या को धाम परिसर में विशाल मेला लगता है। इस पावन अवसर पर स्नान एवं बाबा के दर्शन करने पर हरिद्वार के बराबर पुण्य प्राप्त होता है। व्यक्ति यहां बैसाखी के अवसर पर अपने पितरों की मुक्ति के लिए पिंडदान करते हैं। इसीलिए मुक्तेश्वर धाम छोटा हरिद्वार के नाम से विख्यात है। लोग यहां अपने स्वजनों की अस्थियां भी प्रवाहित करते हैं।

Mukteshwar Mahadev Temple is a popular shrine of Lord Shiva, it is also known as Mukesaran Mandir-located near Pathankot City on Shahpur Kandi Dam road (Punjab). It was built at the time of Mahabharata, by The Pandavas during their 'Agayatwas' and are around 5500 year old. The tourists are attracted due to its historic importance with a blend of Hindu mythological interpretations of caves & a temple. This displays an amazing 'mountain-cut' built temple in caves with astonishingly old deities kept here for, several centuries. The caves and temple has been carved on one of the rocky hill. This temple stands tall at the hill top and is a landmark around the city. Situated at the hilltop, Mukteshwar temple has a white marble Shivling, with a copper Yoni. The Shivling is surrounded by the idols of Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, Goddess Paravati, Lord Hanuman and Lord Ganesha. It has brilliant hilly topography.

ABOUT SHIV MANDIR KATHGARH Shiv Mandir Kathgarh is one of the very famous temple in Himachal Pardesh. This temple is devoted to Lord Shiva and Parvati. Temple is situated 7 Kilometers from Indora on the meeting point of the Beas and the Choch rivers, built in Roman architectural style housing two Lingas of light grey Sandy stone of 6’ and 4’-7” in height having octagonal base with every side measuring 1’-3” and 1’-3” above the ground level personifying Lord Shiva and Parvati respectively. These Lingas which are in direction of North-West stand 3 1/2 apart at the bottom and inclining towards each other with just 2 away from each other at the top.
According to a story in “Shiv Purana” there was a war between Lord Vishnu and Lord Brahama as to who is supreme of the two. They were about to use “Pashupat” which would have brought destruction and annihilation all around. Lord Shiva could not help seeing all this and he appeared as a fire pillar between the two and both the warring Lords became peaceful and wanted know as to what this fire pillar is? Lord Vishnu disguised as ‘Shukara’ went to ascertain the bottom and Lord Brahmaas swan flew into the sky to have a look at the top of this fire pillar.
