What I Heard From The Echoes In The Heart Of Canyon De Chelly | Tod Krumenacker | TEDxIdahoFalls
In an ultra-marathon race through Canyon De Chelly, Tod Krumenacker found support in the voices, the support, and the memories of grandparents, the ancients, family, and a few kind souls who could fill his water pack and send him on his way. “It’s better to look up.” Is Tod Krumenacker’s motto and he believes in the power of trying to maintain a positive and optimistic outlook through life’s challenges.
All throughout his childhood Tod Krumenacker dreamt of becoming a magician, but after failing many times to find a rabbit in any of his hats, he changed his plans. Tod earned his Bachelors Degree in Accounting from Western Governors University and his MBA from Idaho State University and is an internal auditor for Glacier Bancorp where he works with Citizens Community Bank.
It’s Tod’s belief, that just like he’s learned from his photography and running, that as we go throughout our daily lives, if we move too fast, we miss out on things. But if we slow down, and take a look around, we will notice those overlooked and beautiful human interactions that we often pass by.

Canyon de Chelly National Monument 4 wheel truck tour
This is Video #3 which presents Canyon de Chelly from a different perspective, looking at the cliff dwellings while riding in a 4 wheel drive open bed truck ending at the White House Ruins. This is the final video of our trip with a group of senior citizens on a 3 day visit. Canyon de Chelly has been occupied for 5000 years and more recently by the Navajo for the last 300 years. The cliff dwellings were built by the Anasazi about 1000 years ago.

Natural wonders - Spider rock Arizona
Spider Rock stands with awesome dignity and beauty over 245 m high in Arizona's colourful Canyon de Chelly National Park (pronounced da Shay). Geologists of the National Park Service say that the formation began 230 million years ago.
Windblown sand swirled and compressed with time created the spectacular red sandstone monolith. Long ago, the Dine (Navajo) Indian tribe named it Spider Rock.

Canyon de Chelly National Monument Hike
Canyon de Chelly National Monument Hike. That was a hard hike but totally worth it for the experience and to see everything the canyon had to offer. White House ruins were a worthy destination. Driving the southern rim was a great way to spend a Saturday. Finished everything off with a great dinner back at the hotel.

SUMMARY
=======
Canyon de Chelly National Monument ( də-SHAY) was established on April 1, 1931, as a unit of the National Park Service. Located in northeastern Arizona, it is within the boundaries of the Navajo Nation and lies in the Four Corners region. Reflecting one of the longest continuously inhabited landscapes of North America, it preserves ruins of the indigenous tribes that lived in the area, from the Ancestral Puebloans (formerly known as Anasazi) to the Navajo. The monument covers 83,840 acres (131.0 sq mi; 339.3 km2) and encompasses the floors and rims of the three major canyons: de Chelly, del Muerto, and Monument. These canyons were cut by streams with headwaters in the Chuska Mountains just to the east of the monument. None of the land is federally owned. Canyon de Chelly is one of the most visited national monuments in the United States.
