Sigatoka is a small town in FIJI. We had an awesome time experiencing the local life style. Got to meet so many beautiful people who were so friendly and helped us around the town. We got to exchange money at a rate which turned out to be better than the airport and resorts. This place is also good for shopping souvenirs, local clothing and groceries. We also noticed tourist living in the near by resorts stocking up their alcohol as alcohol in resorts is expensive.

Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Hon. Mereseini Vuniwaqa officiated at the event where more than 100 artisans will showcase their authentic crafts during the week-long Hibiscus Festival.
Minister Vuniwaqa said the exhibition provided opportunities for local and international consumers to view the wide spectrum of Fiji’s traditional and contemporary crafts.
“This exhibition provides a platform where traditional and contemporary artisans are given the opportunity to promote their work, gain recognition, participate in the market place, income generation and make an even greater contribution towards the cultural industries in Fiji,” Minister Vuniwaqa said.

Fijian Acting Prime Minister officiates the presentation of Fijian Crafted Licensed Certificate.
Video 2 of 2
The Acting Prime Minister and Attorney-General, Hon Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum today handed over Fijian Crafted Licence to 51 artisans exhibiting at the 2017 National Women’s Expo in Suva.
The AG informed the 500 women participating at the National Women’s Expo the initiative of ‘Buy Fijian Made’ started by the ministry of Industry and Trade was to recognize Fijian Made products.
“A few years ago, people were buying handicrafts which was imported from China or Philippines thinking it was Fijian Made. If you go to Australia or New Zealand, you will want to buy products that were made there. We started this certification program to authenticate and find out for real whether these products were made in Fiji, what material was used and who made it” AG said.
The AG added the certification adds value to a product and gives economic opportunity to increase one’s wealth.
The AG said handicrafts should also tell a story to make it more valuable and authentic. He urged artisans to be consistent with the quality of their products and safeguard the certification presented to them. He also made a plea to members of the public to be more patriotic towards the environment and not to throw rubbish on the roads.
