Prague Municipal House
Prague's most prominent Art Nouveau building was built between 1906 and 1912 and is situated on the site of the former Royal Court Palace. It is a popular stop for visitors drawn in by the Art Nouveau gold trimmings, stained glass, sculpture, and the regular exhibitions and concerts.

Today I visited Day of Open Doors in the Municipal House (Obecní dům) ???? It was the location of the Czechoslovak declaration of independence.
This is an amazing building that houses Smetana Concert Hall and outstanding artworks by Alfons Mucha, Jan Preisler and Max Švabinský.

???? Building of the Municipal House
The building is of the Art Nouveau architecture style.
There are a lot of wonderful halls for different civil purposes (now used for presentations, weddings, fashion shows etc): Smetana Hall, confectionery, Moravian Slovak Parlour, Božena Němcová Parlour, Oriental Parlour, Grégr Hall, Palacký Hall, Mayor’s Hall, Rieger Hall and Sladkovský Hall.
Interiors of the Municipal House were decorated by leading artists and sculptors such as Alfons Mucha, Jan Preisler, Ladislav Šaloun, and others.
The beautiful Smetana hall is used as a concert venue and a ballroom. It has been the main hall of the Prague Symphony Orchestra FOK. The Smetana Hall is a regular venue of the most important concerts of the Prague Spring.
On the ground floor of the Municipal House you may visit a cafe, a bar and two restaurants.

The exhibition represents Blanka’s design and creation: beautiful dresses borrowed from royal families of the Persian Gulf, Haute Couture models, documents mapping behind the scenes of each model, glass sculptures, porcelain and other design objects.
Once a month, you can visit a guided tour of the exhibition held by Blanka Matragi herself.

Prague, from Charles Bridge to Municipal House - Czech Republic 4K Travel Channel
This morning we are already at 7 o'clock at the Charles Bridge. Apart from us, some Asian couples are already on the way, trying to take wedding photos without a lot of tourists. The sun shines flat from the east and offers pleasant plays of light and shadow.
The Charles Bridge, built in the 14th century is the oldest preserved stone bridge in Prague. On both sides of the bridge, you find baroque sculptures, dating from the 17th century. At each end of the bridge is a mighty watchtower. The Charles Bridge connects the Old Town of Prague with the Lesser Town, Mala Strana.
Mala Strana used to be the preferred neighborhood for the nobility and the upper class. Our time was not enough for a detailed tour, so we returned to the old town.
Past the new town hall and the restaurant Franz Kafka, we reach the old town hall again, where we take a closer look at the Astronomical Clock this time.
Above the dials, there are two windows in which the twelve apostles appear every full hour between 9.00 and 22.00 o'clock. The clock of the city hall and the clockwork were already several times about to be scrapped. But fortunately, this work of art has always been rescued.
At the northern end of the Old Town Square is St. Nicholas Church. A chandelier dominates the inside of the baroque church. The Russian Tsar dedicated it to the Orthodox Church. Today, the church also serves as a concert hall.
We walk along the Celetna and reach the House of the Black Madonna. The Madonna was already the emblem of the previous house.
The new house, built in 1911 is in the style of the Czech cubism. First, it served a department store, later the Cubism Museum. Today, it houses a Cafe on the second floor.
Only a few meters further, the street ends at the Powder Tower. It was once part of the fortifications of the royal court. Instead of the royal court, one built the Municipal House, Obecní dům. Only a small passage between the Powder Tower and the Municipal House remains of the original royal court.

Am diesem Morgen sind wir bereits um 7 Uhr bei der Karlsbrücke. Außer uns sind aber auch schon einige asiatische Brautpaare unterwegs, um schöne Hochzeitsfotos ohne Touristen zu machen. Die Sonne scheint flach aus dem Osten und bietet herrliche Licht- und Schattenspiele.
Die Karlsbrücke wurde im 14. Jahrhundert errichtet und ist die älteste erhaltene Steinbrücke von Prag. Die barocken Figuren auf beiden Seiten der Brücke wurden im 17. Jahrhundert errichtet. An beiden Fronten der Brücke sind mächtige Wachtürme errichtet. Die Karlsbrücke verbindet die Altstadt von Prag mit der Kleinseite, Mala Strana.
In ihr wohnte bevorzugt der Adel und die reiche Oberschicht. Unsere Zeit reichte aber nicht für einen ausführlichen Rundgang, deshalb kehrten wir wieder zur Altstadt zurück.
Vorbei am neuen Rathaus und dem Restaurant Franz Kafka erreichen wir wieder das Altstädter Rathaus, wo wir uns diesmal das Uhrwerk der astronomischen Uhr ansehen.
Oberhalb der Ziffernblätter sind zwei Fenster, in denen zu jeder vollen Stunde zwischen 9.00 und 22.00 Uhr die zwölf Apostel erscheinen. Die Rathausuhr und das Uhrwerk standen schon mehrfach kurz vor der Verschrottung, doch glücklicherweise wurde diese Kunstwerk immer wieder gerettet.
Am nördlichen Ende des Altstädter Rings befindet sich die St. Nikolaus Kirche. Die barocke Kirche wird innen von einem Kronleuchter dominiert. Der russische Zar widmete diesen der Orthodoxen Kirche. Heute dient die Kirche auch als Konzerthalle.
Wir gehen durch die Celetna und erreichen das Haus der schwarzen Muttergottes. Die Madonna war bereits das Wahrzeichen des Vorgängerhauses.
Das neue Haus wurde 1911 im Stil des tschechischen Kubismus errichtet. Ursprünglich war es ein Kaufhaus, später das Kubismus-Museum. Heute ist im ersten Stock ein Café untergebracht.
Nur wenige Meter weiter wird die Straße durch den Pulverturm abgeschlossen. Er war einst ein Teil der Befestigungsanlage des Königshofes. Anstelle des Königshofes wurde das Gemeindehaus errichtet. Nur ein kleiner Übergang zwischen Pulverturm und Gemeindehaus ist noch Teil des ursprünglichen Königshofes.

You’ll see 11 monumental masterpieces depicting the mythology and history of Czechs and other Slavic peoples.
The exhibition presents the canvas in an unusual way to show Mucha's art technique. The way of installation makes possible to see back side of the canvas with some notes on them.

*The Slav Epic is a cycle of 20 large canvases painted by Czech Art Nouveau painter Alfons Mucha between 1910 and 1928. Mucha consulted with historians regarding details of historical events in order to ensure an accurate depiction. The Slav Epic is considered to be a top of Mucha’s creation.
