Canyon Overlook Trail [4K]
Canyon Overlook trail in Zion National Park. The round trip for this trail is about 1 mile. The elevation change is around 163 feet. This trail is considered as a moderate difficulty. This is a lot easier than Angels Landing and Observation Point. Go earlier if you can because it will be extremely difficult to find parking during the afternoon hours. There are limited parking space in the parking lot. If I remember correctly, there are about 10 to 12 parking space available in the parking lot right off the trail entrance. Parking on the side street is allowed but it has to be 1/4 mile away from the trail entrance.

Cowmoose Mountain - Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia
Welcome to the Tumbler Ridge UNESCO Global Geopark!
The Cowmoose Mountain area, west of Tumbler Ridge, offers some excellent alpine hiking. Although the lower portions of this trip are rated intermediate, the alpine parts of the route are suitable for experienced hikers with good route finding skills. It was a very windy day, so there are limited aerial shots.

Spring Hike on Mount Spieker - Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia
Welcome to the Tumbler Ridge UNESCO Global Geopark! Routes on flat-topped Mt. Spieker make for excellent hiking through intriguing geological scenery. The summit plateau, and the vertical cliffs which support it, are formed from rocks of the Gates Formation which were deposited in the Lower Cretaceous Period. Coal seams from this rock formation have allowed for the development of the metallurgical coal resources in the Tumbler Ridge area.
The finest scenery is reached by ascending to the saddle ahead, then keeping right and heading northeast and then north, to the end of the mountain. This route leads past areas of thickly bedded sandstone and conglomerate bedrock, deeply cracked in many places to create small grottos which are suitable for rock scrambling and exploring. There are a number of alpine tarns amongst the rocks.
Towards the end of this route the mountain is bounded by vertical cliffs on its east and west sides, which tend to separate and break off to create fine rock scenery. The ridge narrows to the north, until it squeezes down to a narrow strip just a few metres wide, dubbed the Neck. This has an impressive pattern of intersecting cracks. Below the cliffs on the east side are two small lakes. The summit beyond the Neck forms a worthy turnaround point, and offers good views. It is then possible to return via the actual summit, 1971 metres above sea level.
There are areas with large quartzite erratics strewn on conglomerate bedrock. In other areas thinner-bedded rock layers predominate, with impressive cross-bedding, an indicator of ancient river or tidal currents which deposited sand grains.

Quality Canyon - Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia - DJI Phantom 2 Vision Plus
The trail to Quality Canyon and Quality Mouth provides an alluring destination close to Tumbler Ridge. It leads via some steep descents through mature spruce forest to the twin destinations of Quality Canyon and the confluence of Quality Creek with the Murray River. It is an historic pack trail, probably built in the early twentieth century, and used by such intrepid pioneers as Bill Warn
and John Terry as a means to avoid the precipitous cliffs that line the Murray River close by. In places ancient blazes can be seen on the trees. wnms.ca

Tunnel Mountain - Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia
Welcome to the Tumbler Ridge Global Geopark! Tunnel Mountain is a unique, natural tunnel through the top of a mountain west of Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia. We started at the Windfall Lake trailhead, then proceeded a couple kilometres down the trail to Windfall Lake. We then bush-whacked along a creek, increasing in elevation. We broke out of the trees into a sub-alpine meadow with mountain all around. After ascending and descending a couple mountain ridges, we made it to the base of Tunnel Mountain. Although it looked impossible, there was a line of short alpine trees that lead to a steep scree slope just below the large tunnel opening. The scree slope was nerve-wracking, but possible. The large opening in the tunnel was amazing. Five to ten metres in, the tunnel makes a sharp right turn then shoots up to an opening near the summit of the mountain. The whole trip was amazing. The weather was threatening, but was kind enough to allow me to film. Huge thanks to Romy and Kevin for the trip!

Red Deer Falls - Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia, Canada
Red Deer Falls, located in the Tumbler Ridge Global Geopark, is surrounded by beautiful mountain and canyon scenery. Prentiss Gray left the first description and took the first photos of Red Deer Falls. He wrote of '...Seventy foot of sheer drop where the river plunged into a gorgeous pool, hemmed in by towering rocks. It paid for all the trip as we gazed a that silvery ribbon.' (Exploring Tumbler Ridge, by Dr. Charles Helm (2008))
The trail to Red Deer Falls is easily accessible by ATV, but can be done with a 4wd vehicle.

Beautiful Canadian Fall Colours
Canadian fall is God's splash of colors on the surface of mother earth. The intensity and vibrance of rich autumn colors in eastern part of Canada is simply spectacular. Québec is famous for its autumn colors because of the sugar maple trees. The provincial yellow birch and the American beech are also prevalent in Quebec. Laurentian mountains present one of the most beautiful displays of fall foliage in North America. Colors begin their peak at the end of September and continue until mid- to late-October in lower elevations and more southern locations.
Mount Reesor and the Caribou Highway - Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia
Welcome to the Tumbler Ridge Global Geopark! The Mount Reesor area offers great alpine hiking close to Tumbler Ridge. Once the top of the ridge is reached, views to the south and west are superb. The ridge top is a barren stretch of brown shale known as the Caribou Highway, where many tracks and sign of the animals can be seen. The “highway” leads to the south towards Mount Reesor looming in the distance. On a good weather day this is excellent hiking, but it is prone to windy and foggy conditions. At the end of the highway, one must descend to a saddle before starting the final climb to the peak.
The route climbs up the northeastern flank of the peak, becoming a bit of a scramble over loose rock near the top. The peak of Mt Reesor is the center of a syncline or trough in the rock strata. Once on
top, there are expansive views of the high peaks of the Rockies, including the glaciated summit of Sentinel Peak to the west. (
