Leyland's Australia Episode 15: Murray River To The Warrumbungles
From their camp in the Barmah Forest on the Murray, the Leyland's cross the river into NSW and meet up with a farmer still using draught horses to plough paddocks.
They explore the little-known Weddin Mountains, once used by bushranger Ben Hall to elude police. They see the oldest slab building in the country at Dubbo where they also encounter some exotic wild animals. In the final sensational sequence the Leyland's walk through the Grand High tops of the Warrumbungle Ranges, possibly the most scenic of all National Parks in the state.

We spent 34 days paddling (1420kms/882 miles) and camping along the banks of the mighty Murray River from Yarrawonga, Victoria to Renmark, South Australia. Rain, hail or shine we persevered, enjoying the magic of the Australian outdoors and getting up close and personal with wildlife and the elements. Look out for some key moments like when we had to out paddle a storm, save 3 stranded sheep and also check out the awesome animals including Kangaroos, Emus, Echidna, Australian birdls, Snake’s, Goanna’s (monitor lizard) and an awesome king fu praying mantis.

Situated halfway across Australia from east to west, Kimba was first settled in the 1870's by pioneering farmers and still bares its roots proudly. Acting as a service centre for the local farming community, making it a welcome and friendly tourist spot.
Kimba is also an RV friendly town, with access to shower facilities accepting donations, plenty of open space, and recreational areas like the Lions Apex park, which offers access to grassed camping sites, free electric BBQ and shaded picnic area, ideal for family get together's.
Standing at more than eight metres tall is Kimba's Big Gallah, which has become some what of an icon for this outback regional town, keeping watch over the Halfway Across Australia Gem Shop.
Located just off the Eyre Highway, the Kimba Gawler Range is a museum and village formed by the Kimba Historic Society. Their goal was to preserve the knowledge and insight into how life was for our pioneers, ho founded the region in the late 1800's. The sight houses 17 buildings open Tuesdays to Thursdays and on Sundays, due to the fact duties are done entirely by volunteers.
A short distance from town is White Knobs Lookout. The lookout offers a fantastic panoramic view of Kimba and its surrounding region and sculptures of Edward John Eyre and his tracking guide, whose skills assisted in the exploration and survival during extremely harsh conditions, from which the Eyre peninsula rightfully received its name.
The Roora Reserve Nature Trail is 6 kilometres of bushland path, categorising the local fauna and flora, along with a few artificial creations that add some guaranteed sight seeing along the way.
