I was fortunate enough to be traveling the Canary Islands at the time and was able to be among the first to see the museum.

Museo Atlántico/Underwater Museum - Lanzarote, Spain

Museo Atlántico is an underwater museum conceived by Jason deCaires Taylor. It is located at about 12-14m of depth in Playa Blanca, Lanzarote. The project creates an artificial reef with pH neutral cement sculptures that attrack all kinds of marine life. The message behind it, however, questions the current relationship between humans and nature...

@Museoatlantico is the first underwater art museum in Europe, in Lanzarote Canary Islands, Spain. Created by @jasondecairestaylor the artistic themes cover from the refugee crisis, climate change, commodification and more - it is designed last for hundred of years and evolve as the marine life changes around it. The experience of diving Museo Atlantico is profound... the casting of real people gives a haunting gravity to the sculptures, the feel both alive and vacant… memories of humans lost at sea.

The pH neutral concrete creates a habitat for new coral growth and in time will aggregate fish on a large scale, transforming these ‘living sculptures’ and the ecosystem. SCUBA Diving Lanzarote Underwater Museum “Museo Atlántico”

Here is some absolutely amazing footage of my experience SCUBA Diving a few weeks ago whilst diving in Playa Blanca on the island of Lanzarote, for an underwater museum called “Museo Atlántico” which opened on the 2nd March 2016 and is Europe's first and only underwater museum. It was a fantastic experience and was great to see as it was something diffrent. ALL footage belongs to me and therefore I am the owner of this footage.

DISCLAIMER: So I know this is not NASCAR so if you don't like this SCUBA Diving you don't have to watch it, so don't give any hate as its not NASCAR related but you can leave me feedback.

Fantastic Dive at Museo Atlantico & Los Coloradas in Playa Blanca, Lanzarote

Whilst on a short break in Lanzarote I had the opportunity to dive the awesome Museo Atlantico (mostly just called The Museum) which was a very easy and enjoyable shallow dive, also with the 2 dive day we visited the scenic site Los Coloradas, which had some great swim throughs and was a nice relaxing dive.

These boat dives were arranged through Native Diving in Costa Teguise, Lanzarote, whose team were awesome, and went above and beyond to accommodate all requirements.

Thanks to everyone I met, it was really great meeting all of you.

Gezeigt werden viele Skulpturen mit emotionalen Hintergrund. So ist zum Beispiel eine Skulptur des berühmten Floßes von Lampedusa zu sehen, welches unterging und zahlreiche Menschenleben kostete. Danach ist eine Skulptur eines Pärchens zu sehen, welches gerade ein Selfie macht und versucht das Floß mit aufs Bild zu bekommen. Das Pärchen wird “Gesichtslos” dargestellt. Ein Sinnbild für die heutige Zeit. Viele weitere Figuren sind zu bestaunen und geben einen kritischen Gedankenanstoß wie die Menschen miteinander und der Umwelt umgehen.
