Richmond, California
Richmond is a city in western Contra Costa County, California, United States. Richmond was incorporated on August 7, 1905. Located in the eastern region of the San Francisco Bay Area, Richmond borders the cities of San Pablo, Albany, El Cerrito and Pinole in addition to the unincorporated communities of North Richmond, Hasford Heights, Kensington, El Sobrante, Bayview-Montalvin Manor, Tara Hills, and East Richmond Heights, and briefly San Francisco on Red Rock Island.
Under the McLaughlin Administration, Richmond was the largest city in the United States served by a Green Party mayor. As of the 2010 U.S. Census, the city's population is at 103,710, making it the second largest city in the United States named Richmond. The largest, Richmond, Virginia, is the namesake of the California city.
The Ohlone Indians were the first inhabitants of the Richmond area, settling an estimated 5,000 years ago.
The name Richmond appears to predate actual incorporation by more than fifty years. Edmund Randolph, originally from Richmond, Virginia, represented the city of San Francisco when California's first legislature met in San Jose in December 1849, and he became state assemblyman from San Francisco.
California African American Museum
CAAM’s permanent collection consists of over 4,000 objects ranging from the 1800s to the present. It encompasses paintings, photographs, film, sculpture, historical documents, and artifacts, and it spans nineteenth-century landscape paintings to modern artworks to contemporary mixed-media reflections on cultural and political events. The Museum’s first acquisitions included a bronze bust of civil rights activist Dr. Mary Mcleod Bethune by artist Richmond Barthé and a sculpture by artist Maren Hassinger, then at the start of her career. These laid the perfect groundwork for CAAM’s mandate to assemble a comprehensive, thoughtful, and wide-reaching collection.
CAAM’s deepest holdings include art made or connected to African Americans in California and the western United States. However, the Museum also has significant works of contemporary art from the African diaspora (including Haiti, Brazil, and Jamaica), as well as traditional African art from Western, Central, and Sub-Saharan Africa. CAAM aims to represent the diverse contributions of African Americans in the United States, but also to interpret how the past has affected identity in the present.
Today, CAAM oversees, exhibits, and conserves a rapidly growing collection. Each quarter, curators review the current holdings and decide as a committee on future acquisitions. We view our collection as a living body — constantly evolving, growing, and reflecting the world in which we live.
Some examples of CAAM’s collection include the photographic collection of Miriam Matthews, which comprises images of African Americans in Los Angeles from the 1880s to the 1970s; the Walter Burrell Collection of audio recordings of Burrell’s interviews with African American celebrities, broadcast by a local radio station in the early 1970s; the oral histories of Celes King, who was both a local civil rights activist as well as a former Tuskegee airman; and selections from the collection of visual artist John Outterbridge.

Los Angeles Museum Of The Holocaust
The Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust (LAMOTH) is a museum in Pan Pacific Park, within the Fairfax District of Los Angeles, California
It is dedicated to the remembrance and preservation of the history, stories, victims, and tragic events of the Holocaust during World War II. Founded in 1961, the museum is purported to be the oldest museum of its kind in the United States.
LAMOTH is always free for visitors and students, because the founding survivors insisted that no one ever be turned away from learning about the Holocaust.
In 1961, a group of survivors at Hollywood High School taking English as a second language classes found one another and shared their experiences. They discovered that each of them had a photograph, concentration camp uniform, or other precious primary source object from the Holocaust era. They decided that these artifacts needed a permanent home where they could be displayed safely and in perpetuity. They also wanted a place to memorialize their dead and help to educate the world so that no one would ever forget. Some of these founding survivors remain active on the LAMOTH Board of Directors today.

Model T Ford Museum Coming To Richmond
Richmond, Indiana (April 7, 2012) I had the rare and distinct honor of getting to spend some time and talk with Mr. Jay Klehfoth who is the is the CEO and publisher of the Vintage Ford Magazine today. I met him at what will be the new home for the Model T Ford Museum located in Richmond, Indiana's Historical Depot District.
The museum was formally located just west of Richmond in Centerville, Indiana next to the Warm Glow Candle Factory. The owners of the property where the museum was housed refused to extend the contract with the Model T Club of America that they had occupied for 5 years. Mr. Klehfoth said when the city of Richmond found out that the Model T Museum was in need of a new home the city pulled all the stops to make sure that Richmond became the new home for the Model T museum. This is a major loss to the city of Centerville but a major gain for the city of Richmond.
New Model T Ford Museum
The new Model T Ford Museum is going to be an exciting addition to what is one of Indiana's grandest historical areas and a must in this part of the Midwest. There will be new exhibits in addition to the ones that were on display in the former facility. The museum is a perfect fit in what is already the hub of Richmond's tourism district and will be a magnificent part of your visit when you're there. The grand opening for the new museum is targeted for June of this year.
Richmond is a perfect place for any day trip. But, if you want to see all that Richmond, Indiana has to offer you'll need to plan on staying several days.

Driving Downtown - Nashville 4K - USA
Driving Downtown Streets - Broadway - Nashville Tennessee USA - Episode 44.
Starting Point: Broadway - .
Broadway is major thoroughfare in Nashville, Tennessee. It includes Lower Broadway, a renowned entertainment district for country music.
Landmarks
Lower Broadway consists of Broadway between First and Fifth avenues. Its features include the Bridgestone Arena, the Nashville Convention Center and various honky tonk bars, including Robert's Western World and Tootsie's Orchid Lounge.[2] The Ryman Auditorium and the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum are both within one block of this area. Lower Broadway is a particularly crowded place during the annual CMA Music Festival.
Nashville is the capital of the U.S. state of Tennessee and the county seat of Davidson County. The city is a center for the music, healthcare, publishing, banking and transportation industries, and is home to numerous colleges and universities. Reflecting the city's position in state government, Nashville is home to the Tennessee Supreme Court's courthouse for Middle Tennessee. It is known as a center of the country music industry, earning it the nickname Music City U.S.A.
Tourism
Perhaps the biggest factor in drawing visitors to Nashville is its association with country music. Many visitors to Nashville attend live performances of the Grand Ole Opry, the world's longest running live radio show. The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum is another major attraction relating to the popularity of country music. The Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center, the Opry Mills regional shopping mall and the General Jackson showboat, are all located in what is known as Music Valley.
Nashville has several arts centers and museums, including the Frist Center for the Visual Arts, Cheekwood Botanical Garden and Museum of Art, the Tennessee State Museum, the Johnny Cash Museum, Fisk University's Van Vechten and Aaron Douglas Galleries, Vanderbilt University's Fine Art Gallery and Sarratt Gallery, and the full-scale replica of the Parthenon.
Economy
As the home of country music, Nashville has become a major music recording and production center. All of the Big Four record labels, as well as numerous independent labels, have offices in Nashville, mostly in the Music Row area.[44] Nashville has been home to the headquarters of guitar company Gibson since 1984. Since the 1960s, Nashville has been the second-largest music production center (after New York) in the U.S.[45] As of 2006, Nashville's music industry is estimated to have a total economic impact of $6.4 billion per year and to contribute 19,000 jobs to the Nashville area.[46]
Although Nashville is renowned as a music recording center and tourist destination, its largest industry is health care. Nashville is home to more than 300 health care companies, including Hospital Corporation of America (HCA), the largest private operator of hospitals in the world.
The automotive industry is also becoming increasingly important for the entire Middle Tennessee region. Nissan North America moved its corporate headquarters in 2006 from Gardena, California (Los Angeles County) to Franklin, southwest of Nashville. Nissan also has its largest North American manufacturing plant in Smyrna, Tennessee. Largely as a result of the increased development of Nissan and other Japanese economic interests in the region, Japan moved its former New Orleans consulate-general to Nashville's Palmer Plaza.
Bridgestone has a strong presence with their North American headquarters located in Nashville, with manufacturing plants and a distribution center in nearby counties.
Other major industries in Nashville include insurance, finance, and publishing (especially religious publishing). The city hosts headquarters operations for several Protestant denominations, including the United Methodist Church, Southern Baptist Convention, National Baptist Convention USA, and the National Association of Free Will Baptists.
Nashville is also known for some of their famously popular Southern confections, including Goo Goo Clusters (which have been made in Nashville since 1912).[50]
Fortune 500 companies with offices within Nashville include Dell,[51] HCA, Bridgestone, Community Health Systems, Nissan North America, Tractor Supply Company, UBS and Dollar General.

All Aboard America is a short 1976 film about the bicentennial celebration train, the American Freedom Train, discussing the project’s inception, design and construction, layout and route. The film shows some illustrations of America’s founding fathers, images from the Civil War, and early footage of an automobile, World War I, and Franklin D. Roosevelt addressing a crowd. John Warner, head of the American Revolution Bicentennial Administration, shows off the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and Bill of Rights at the National Archives (03:50). A steam locomotive pulls a 24-car train (04:55). A man dressed in a colonial-era costume boards the train. Aerial footage shows the train cruising along railroad tracks. The train passes a windmill, drives through towns and over bridges, and cuts through farmland. At an old converted railroad station in New Jersey (07:13), American Freedom Train founder Ross Rowland speaks to the camera about his vision (08:20). In Venice, FL craftsmen modify old baggage cars into the cars that would become part of the American Freedom Trian (09:00). In Richmond, CA, People work on train cars for a west-coast train in Richmond, CA (09:58), cutting steel and welding the cars. Barry Howard of Larchmont, NY works on designs that will turn the old cars temporary display cars featuring the various exhibits (10:53). In 1974, people pull one of the old great “Iron Horse” locomotives, a Southern Pacific Daylight engine, from its pedestal in Oaks Park, located in Portland, OR. The former Reading Company T-1 class 4-8-4 #2101 engine is revamped for the eastern U.S. train (11:50). Designers shape a replica of the box in Ford’s Theatre where Lincoln sat when shot (12:20). Dolly Parton and Porter Wagoner record a version of “Freedom Train” in a Nashville studio (12:37). Curator for Documents and Artifacts Ruth Packard speaks to the camera about the ten exhibit cars (13:35). Private Collectors catalog artifacts they are sending to be a part of the American Freedom Train (13:57). Actor and civil rights activist Ossie Davis records audio for the train. Radio City Music Hall producer Leon Leonidoff speaks to the camera from his living room about the potential of the Freedom Train. The display cars are readied for final inspection (15:20). Design fabricators install the equipment, artifacts, and documents. Viewers see a 1904 Oldsmobile Scout and an 1849 fire engine loaded into a car in Alexandria, VA (16:10). President Gerald Ford waves to the crowd at the start of the grand opening of the American Freedom Train. The film takes viewers aboard the finished train. In Car 1 (17:00), viewers see priceless documents from American history; Car 2 features early Native American artifacts and depictions of America’s expansion west. Car 3 is a visual display of various American developments (18:00), while the next car features life-like mannequins who represent immigrants. The fifth car is filled with the works of American inventors, including some original inventions. Car 6 showcases the writings of everyday Americans. The next car is filled with sports heroes as well as different memorabilia such as baseball bats. In the eighth car, viewers see a world of entertainment, with photographs of movie stars, excerpts and video clips of movies, sheet music, and more. Car 9 features painters and sculptors (20:28), while the final car illustrates key moments in history, such as John F. Kennedy’s presidency and Martin Luther King, Jr.’s civil rights work. A band plays on 1 April 1975 in Wilmington, DL during the grand opening (21:23). People line up to walk through the train. Kids pose in old costumes. Train engineer Doyle McCormack speaks about being a part of the project. There are shots of the train passing through towns and cities, including Sioux Falls and Chicago. The film concludes with people riding on and posing in front of the train.
The American Freedom Train toured the country in 1975–76 to commemorate the United States Bicentennial. The train was powered by three newly restored steam locomotives. The first to pull the train was a former Reading Company T-1 class 4-8-4 #2101. The second was former Southern Pacific 4449, a large 4-8-4 steam locomotive that is still operating in special excursion service today. The third was former Texas & Pacific 2-10-4 #610, which pulled the train in Texas. Due to light rail loadings and track conditions on the Louisville and Nashville Railroad, diesels hauled the train from New Orleans to Mobile, Alabama. Diesels were also required in Chicago after the steam locomotive derailed attempting to negotiate tracks by the Chicago lakefront.

Great Model Railroads: Golden State Model Railroad Museum (Exclusive Hidden Scenes)
During my recent visit to San Francisco, I took the opportunity to visit the Golden State Model Railroad Museum, one of the oldest model railroad museums/clubs in United States. The exhibit has 3 large displays of the most popular scales - N, HO and O Scale Model Trains in a whooping 10000 sq feet area. This video shows some of the things that caught my eyes and gives a tour of the N Scale and HO Scale layouts in vivid detail.
I was graciously given the opportunity to walk along the operator's aisle in the HO section and thus was able to record the hidden scenes that you do not see from the visitor's aisle. And what t treat it was! Those hidden gems make this visit truly special.
Thank you to all the staff and volunteers of the club/museum for showing me around and helping me out. It was a fantastic afternoon and I hope I get a chance to visit again in future.

Model T Ford Museum Grand Opening Set
Hagerstown, Indiana (September 10, 2012) The new Model T Ford Museum is slated to hold its grand opening during Richmond's Octoberfest on September 28 at 6 p.m. The museum which was previously located in Centerville, Indiana near the Warm Glow Candle Factory for 5 years moved just a few miles east to Richmond, Indiana's Historical Depot District this past spring.
Since the move to Richmond volunteers have been steadily preparing the museum's new home, displays and vehicles for the event.
Today, a photo shoot for the Model T Museum's newly acquired 1930 Pietenpol Sky Scout was held at the Hagerstown Airport.
The plan arrived at the airport around 10:00 a.m. this morning and was assembled by Model T enthusiasts and many of them brought their own Model Ts to use during the photo shoot.
One of the people there today was Mr. Jay Klehfoth who is the CEO and publisher of the Vintage Ford Magazine.
Jay is a walking encyclopedia when it comes to all things Model T. I was to learn he's pretty knowledgeable in a lot of areas too. During our walk around of the plane Jay pointed out one of the parts for the engine had been made by a former factory in Richmond of all places. And there are many other special things about this airplane I'm sure he'll be writing about in the next issue of the the Vintage Ford Magazine. He not only knew a lot about the Pietenpol Sky Scout plane that was being photographed for the magazine cover, he's pretty sharp when it comes to airports too. Jay said that the Hagerstown airport were today's photo shoot was done has the longest grass landing strip in the United States which to me made it the perfect place for today's event.
This Pietenpol that will be on display at the museum is powered by a 20 HP Model T engine which was modified to include dual-ignition which is used in aviation. According to an article in the AntiqueAirfield.com website from September 10, 2012 there was only one original Pietenpol Sky Scout built by Bernard Pietenpol himself, and just two replicas. The article also said that all 3 were still flying.
The new Model T Ford Museum is going to be an exciting addition to what is one of Indiana's grandest historical areas and a must in this part of the Midwest.
Richmond is a perfect place for any day trip. But, if you want to see all that Richmond has to offer you'll need to plan on staying several days.
The Model T Ford Museum is located in Richmond's Historic Depot District at 309 N 8th St, Richmond, IN 47374 - 765-488-0026.

San Antonio, officially the City of San Antonio, is the seventh most populated city in the United States of America and the second most populated city in the state of Texas, with a population of 1,409,019. It was the fastest growing of the top 10 largest cities in the United States from 2000 to 2010, and the second from 1990 to 2000.
San Antonio was named for Saint Anthony of Padua, whose feast day is on June 13, by a 1691 Spanish expedition in the area. It is notable for Spanish colonial missions, the Alamo, the River Walk, the Tower of the Americas, the Alamo Bowl, and Marriage Island. Commercial entertainment includes SeaWorld and Six Flags Fiesta Texas theme parks, and according to the San Antonio Convention and Visitors Bureau, the city is visited by about 32 million tourists a year. The city is home to the five-time NBA champion San Antonio Spurs and hosts the annual San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, one of the largest such events in the country.
The US armed forces have numerous facilities in San Antonio: Fort Sam Houston, Lackland Air Force Base, Randolph Air Force Base (which constitute Joint Base San Antonio), and Lackland AFB/Kelly Field Annex, with Camp Bullis and Camp Stanley located outside the city. Kelly Air Force Base operated out of San Antonio until 2001, when the airfield was transferred to Lackland AFB. The remaining portions of the base were developed as Port San Antonio, an industrial/business park and aerospace complex. San Antonio is home to six Fortune 500 companies and the South Texas Medical Center, the only medical research and care provider in the South Texas region.
The missions of the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park along with the Alamo, became part of UNESCO's World Heritage Sites on July 5, 2015.[citation needed] The San Antonio Missions became the 23rd U.S. site on the World Heritage List, which includes the Grand Canyon and the Statue of Liberty.

Attractions
San Antonio is a popular tourist destination, often referred to simply as SA.
The Alamo Mission in San Antonio (the Alamo), located in Downtown, is Texas' top tourist attraction. Because of the mission, San Antonio is often called the Alamo City.[53]
The River Walk, which meanders through the Downtown area, is the city's second-most-visited attraction, giving it the additional nickname of River City. Extended an additional 13 miles between 2009-2013, the landscaped walking and bike path line the San Antonio River from the Museum Reach beginning at the Historic Pearl Brewery through downtown, Downtown Reach, past the Blue Star's Eagleland to the Mission Reach ending at Loop 410 South past Mission San Juan Capistrano.[54] Lined with numerous shops, bars, and restaurants, as well as the Arneson River Theater, this attraction is transformed into an impressive festival of lights during the Christmas and New Year holiday period, and is suffused with the local sounds of folklorico and flamenco music during the summer, particularly during celebrations such as the Fiesta Noche del Rio.
