Episode 3219.1 | Museum of Appalachia 2018 | Tennessee Crossroads
When you start a collection, you never know how things will go. Sometimes your collection grows so big there is hardly enough room in your house for anything else. Then what? Well, maybe you decide to create a museum to house your treasures. That's how the Museum of Appalachia came into being back in 1969. It's grown quite a bit since then. Rob Wilds recently paid a visit to Clinton in East Tennessee to find out about the latest chapter in the museum's history. Watch this and more episode segments of Nashville Public Television's Tennessee Crossroads.

Museum of Appalachia 2015
This is a photo tour of the Museum of Appalachia. These photos were taken in September 2015. This is an incredible museum that was founded by John Rice Irwin in 1969. If you find yourself in East TN, don't miss the opportunity to visit. You will not be disappointed. It is affiliated with the Smithsonian. I added the transition from black and white to color to give it an appearance of early life in Appalachia.

Clinton High School, Class of 1965, Clinton, Tennessee
A Power-Point show I put together with photos sent to me by class members a couple of years ago for our Medicare Party. I saved it as a movie, so I could post it here.
Sorry for the low resolution on the photos. It doesn't enlarge to full screen very well--but I scanned the photos at a low resolution to keep the PowerPoint show from bogging down.
Some of the folks in the photos are no longer with us. We miss them very much. May they rest in peace.
Oh, we had our rough times as a class, but, on the whole, we were a fun group of youngsters with loads of hope and energy for the future. Clinton was a great place to grow up, and CHS was an excellent high school for us. Most all of us look back now and see our principal, Mr. Human, for the outstanding man he was. Even if we didn't have the sense and maturity to know it then.

Tradition: Tennessee Lives & Legacies
The Renaissance Center is thrilled to be one of the first venues in the state, and the first in the Nashville area, to display Tradition - Tennessee Lives & Legacies, a companion exhibit to the book of the same name written by Dr. Robert Cogswell with stunning photography by Nashville photographer Dean Dixon. Dixon spent over 18 months traveling around Tennessee to capture images of some of the country's most honored folk artists - individuals who have preserved art forms and culture distinctive to their families and communities. The subjects include such artists, musicians and crafts folk as fiddler Charlie Acuff; Choctaw beadworker Minnie Bell; old-time singer Roy Harper; and basketmaker Mary Prater.
