Places to see in ( Dortmund - Germany ) Museum of Art and Art History
The Museum für Kunst und Kulturgeschichte or MKK (Museum of Art and Cultural History) is a municipal museum in Dortmund, Germany. It is currently located in an Art Deco building which was formerly the Dortmund Savings Bank. The collection includes paintings, sculptures, furniture and applied art, illustrating the cultural history of Dortmund from early times to the 20th century. There are regular temporary exhibitions of art and culture, as well as a permanent exhibition on the history of surveying, with rare geodetic instruments.
It was founded in 1883 as a collection of historical and artistic objects. It changed location several times in the early years, and came to include archaeological finds, decorative artworks and local historical artefacts. It was reoriented as a fine art museum in the 1930s, with the acquisition of Romantic paintings in particular.
The collection was evacuated during the war, and survived almost unharmed. The building, however, was destroyed, so the collection was moved into Cappenberg Castle in 1946. (The ruins of the old site were rebuilt into the Museum am Ostwall.) During this time the MKK was put in charge of artworks evacuated from various bombed Westphalian churches, including Conrad von Soest's Mary Altar from St. Mary's Church in Dortmund.
In the 1960s and '70s the MKK acquired examples of Westphalian furniture, documenting the history of furnishing from the Gothic to Art Nouveau. In 1983 it moved into its present location, an Art Deco former bank built in 1924. The director from 1982 to 1986 was Gerhard Langemeyer, the future Lord Mayor of Dortmund.
The permanent exhibitions are Kulturgeschichte im Zeitraffer (Cultural History in Time-Lapse), Die kleine Nationalgalerie (an annexe of the Alte Nationalgalerie in Berlin), and the exhibition on the history of surveying. The sections are ordered chronologically, from Back to the Stone Age and Antiques through to The New City.
The permanent collection of 19th-century paintings includes works by Caspar David Friedrich, Max Slevogt, Lovis Corinth and Anton von Werner. Some of the previous temporary exhibitions have been devoted to Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Friedrich Karl Waechter, Paul Cézanne, Édouard Manet, and Frank Lloyd Wright and The Living City (2000).

Various shots of the artists dressed up in fancy dress gathered up for dancing in the evening, most people are trying to do the Bossa Nova. Various shots of black woman singer and band on stage.

GERMANY: Lemgo city / Junkerhaus [HD]
Lemgo's medieval town centre with stone and adorned half-timbered houses date from the Late-Gothic and Renaissance period. Very few towns in Germany have a historical centre restored with such careful attention to detail.
The Town Hall (Rathaus) is listed as a piece of European Union artwork on the UNESCO list 1. Built between the years 1325 and 1612 the house represents an excelent example of Gothic and Renaissance architecture.
The Chancellor Fountain (Kanzlerbrunnen) was built by the sculptor Bonifatius Stirnberg in 1977. Arms and legs of the figures are movable.
The city of Lemgo lies in the heart of the Lippe region of North Rhine Westphalia, Germany. It is located approximately 15km east of the Teutoberg Forest.
The Junkerhaus municipal museum (3:31) is the creation of artist Karl Junker (1850-1912). This two-story wood framed house was his home. The half--timbered frame is covered with pilaster and cornices made of carved boards, strips of wood and latticework.
Karl Junker was as severely schizophrenic as he was talented when it came to architecture, and this fact is evident in the home that became his legacy. The world inside his head provided the blueprint for the Junker House, a home like something out of a nightmare, complete with human faces that stare down from ceilings, twisting caged staircases, skeletal furniture and ghosts.

Artist Talk—Candida Höfer: Turks in Germany 1979
Renowned artist Candida Höfer (b. 1944) is best known for her large-format photographs of vacant, sober, and highly detailed interiors. One of her earliest series, however, focused on “guest workers” who joined West Germany’s labor force after World War II. In this lecture, the artist discusses the photographic series, titled “Turks in Germany 1979.” The work is featured in our current special exhibition “Crossing Lines, Constructing Home: Displacement and Belonging in Contemporary Art.”
“Turks in Germany 1979” is a rare artistic reflection on the changing social and cultural landscape at the time of its making; it continues to resonate today in the face of the largest refugee crisis since World War II and ongoing debates—often centered on Germany—about migration, racism, and national identity.
The Busch-Reisinger Museum Lectures, sponsored by the German Friends of the Busch-Reisinger Museum, present important speakers on topics of central and northern European art. In addition, modern and contemporary art programs at the Harvard Art Museums are made possible in part by generous support from the Emily Rauh Pulitzer and Joseph Pulitzer, Jr., Fund for Modern and Contemporary Art.

Exhibition ARTEFACTS Berlin
How do we want to deal with the future of our one and only planet?
In times of alternative facts, we want to discuss environmental issues with the public. Together with the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin and the photo artist J Henry Fair, we present an exhibition that bridges art and science and that continues to be shaped with the help of our visitors.
Large aerial photographs show the sometimes catastrophic effects of human action on nature. ARTEFACTS identifies the challenges behind the images, how science and European Union politics work out solutions, and what contribution every individual citizen can make to help.
Starting October 9th, 2018
at Museum für Naturkunde Berlin, Invalidenstraße 43, 10115 Berlin
