¿Podrían imaginarse un mundo sin arte? Un mundo sin pintura, sin música, nosotros no pero ahora imagínense un recinto que junta estas dos cosas, un lugar al que se le conoce como el edifico que canta por su belleza y que además resguarda una maravillosa colección de pintura, esta combinación es difícil de resistir. Hablamos del ex convento de San Agustín, hoy convertido en el museo de arte de Querétaro.
Este claustro construido en el siglo XVIII en pleno esplendor del barroco Novo Hispano, es una joya de la arquitectura de la Nueva España. Y es una de las más bellas obras que construyera la Orden de los Agustinos y considerada uno de los más bellos edificios barrocos del continente.
Después de las reformas del siglo XIX este edificio se destinó a múltiples usos, como cuartel, pero antes de eso este edificio fue la sede de la Casa de Estudios Mayores de la Provincia de San Nicolás de Tolentino de Michoacán. Después de dejar de ser cuartel, este edificio cayó en el abandono hasta que Porfirio Díaz lo recuperó a finales del siglo XIX y se restauró para albergar el palacio federal, pero aquí también fueron oficinas de correos y hacienda, hasta que en 1988 este edificio fue restaurado nuevamente para albergar el museo de arte de Querétaro.
El museo se inauguró el 22 de Septiembre de 1988, este año está celebrando su treinta aniversario y cuenta con 16 salas de exhibición en las dos plantas del edificio. En nueve de ellas se alberga una muestra permanente cuyas obras abarcan desde el Manierismo en la primera mitad del siglo XVII, hasta la reforma de la Academia de San Carlos, en la segunda mitad del siglo XIX.
En las siete salas restantes se ofrecen al público exposiciones temporales de arte contemporáneo de alta calidad y de la autoría de destacados artistas del ámbito local, nacional y extranjero, Esto es algo que nos dio mucho gusto descubrir, ya que el mal llamado arte contemporáneo se cree que es toda esa enorme cantidad de basura que muchas galerías y círculos de arte nos quieren vender por arte, aquí en este museo se expone el talento y no la falta de el, ya que arte contemporáneo es todo arte hecho actualmente y no solo eso que finalmente es basura adornada de la palabra arte.
Ahora el MAQRO expone dos muestras itinerantes, una es Candy Show en la que se unen dos jóvenes artistas Queretanos, una es Adriana Luna e Israel Salinas. Esta exposición es un viaje por el apego al objeto, al poder que tiene lo cotidiano en convertirse en algo místico en nuestras vidas, a través del dulce damos forma a recuerdos y encuentros entre personas, de ahí parte esta exposición, ambos artistas especializados en el realismo y con piezas de gran formato nos hacen creer aun en el arte como oficio y como constante preparación y estudio.
La otra muestra itinerante que se presentan actualmente aquí, es la exposición del artista Lalo Sanchez del Valle, titulada El Niño y el Dragón y es una retroalimentación entre el hijo del artista y su pincel, en donde Lalo invita a su hijo a compartir su mundo imaginario y llevarlo al lienzo y como menciona el artista, creemos guiar los pasos de los niños y en muchas ocaciones es lo contrario, son ellos los que nos orientan hasta convertirnos en mejores personas, seres mas generosos, y conscientes, en mejores amigos y en artistas mas profundos.
Así que amigos, aquí tienen tres artistas mexicanos contemporáneos que vale la pena revisar su obra y agradecer que no todo el arte contemporáneo sea basura sino obras de peso y calidad, y artistas con un dialogo que aporta.

Queretano Adventure
This is the second part of the fun time we had in Queretaro. Visiting downtown was amazing the food was great, phenomenal architecture, and beautiful art. The Faith and Hope team who hosted us was so amazing and we loved hanging out downtown with them. It was so cool to see old Mexico culture mixed in with new Mexican. We got to visit the Church and Monastery of the Santa Cruz which is known for the famous Frey Antonio Margil and the Tree of Crosses. I'm glad to be home but I will miss this beautiful city!
