Astrakhan
Astrakhan sits astride the Volga north of the Caspian Sea and is Russia’s face on that multinational body of water. The city reflects much of the region’s cultural and religious diversity. There are large communities of Kazakhs and Azeris, as well as Islamic Tatars. While many visitors use Astrakhan mainly as a jumping-off point for the Volga Delta, the city merits a day or two of exploration in its own right.
There’s a long, handsome riverfront that’s ideal for evening strolls as the sun sets across the river. The striking white kremlin, a symbol of Russian dominance since the 16th century, holds two beautiful churches and several museums. Across the canal, north of the kremlin, the stone mansions and churches of the European and Christian centre give way to Tatar and Persian sloboda (suburbs) with their wooden cottages, mosques and quaint courtyards, where garlands of drying vobla fish flutter in the breeze.

Moving to Russia | Professional Ballet Company
Hi Everyone! And welcome to my channel....
So I decided to start a YouTube channel just for fun. I wanted to try a new hobby where I could create something and I thought I've never tried YouTube videos so why not? haha..I always love watching YoutTubers and Vloggers and there aren't that many ballet YouTubers out there so I want to make videos about the daily routines of professional ballet dancers, stretching and exercise videos, show prep, ballet hacks, but also I think the most interesting part will be your comments and thoughts!
Recently, I moved from Los Angeles to Astrakhan (a small city in Russia) to dance at the Astrakhan State Opera and Ballet Theatre! The theatre was built in 2011 so the company is also relatively new and young. The company does both classical and contemporary repertoire, including ballets choreographed by the director: Konstantin Uralsky.
So the whole move out process felt so surreal, and I really couldn't grasp the idea of me leaving the U.S until literally the day I left. We arrived at 2am in the small family-like airport in Astrakhan..And we got a taxi to our 5 star hotel:Grand Hotel. The hotel had a wonderful complimentary buffet style breakfast with Russian blinchiki (pancakes), pastries, pierogi (they even specially made me oatmeal on water).
The next week I was busy just signing and writing in Russian and trying to get a lot of documents like a Russian interstate passport, SNLS (whatever that is..), some kind of registration, and tax registration...but the problem is that they are all intertwined and no one seems to know which one I need to get first!
Anyway....the people in Astrakhan not only in the theatre but in the stores and cafes are all VERY nice and welcoming! The city itself is kinda old and not that great...but the food is AMAZING and the city is so rich in culture: Theatre of Opera and Ballet, Dramatic Theatre, museums, music and art conservatories...
For my first two weeks at the theatre, I was taking morning class with the rest of the company and then I would attend rehearsals. So far I love the theatre and I love dancing all day!

A little story about the settlement
Это наш небольшой проект. Делали его что бы получить зачёт по инглишу, так что не особо старались, но идею можно развить дальше.
Текст:
We live in a small settlement which is on the left bank of the river Volga. It was found in 1937 on the place of natural backwater. This place have been known as a home of different ships and motor ships. The main activity of people who live here is work on a fleet or repair ships. People like going fishing, hunting and going for mushrooms and berries.
The population of the settlement is small: only a few thousand people. In spring even less people, because the ships go sailing.
In summer in the settlement people more than in the spring. For a beautiful nature, fresh air, wide Volga and pine forest cottagers love our settlement.
School. The school is second home for us. Exactly here we spend our half of the
day: lessons, electives, additional exercises, and different sections. There is a
sport club Atlet. It helps adults and children do sport such as volleyball,
basketball, football, sambo, powerlifting, fitness.
Also there is a house of culture in the settlement, which also take a lot of
sections. There are large library and historical museum.
