UK: PRINCES CALL FOR PUBLIC TO STOP MOURNING DIANA UPDATE
English/Nat
Princess Diana's sons have appealed to people to let their mother and her memory rest in peace.
In a statement issued two days after the first anniversary of Diana's death they declared that the public mourning period should now end.
Prince Harry, who started at the exclusive Eton College on Wednesday, and Prince William said that constant reminders of their mother's death could create nothing but pain to those she had left behind.
Prince Harry started at the exclusive Eton College on Wednesday.
He arrived with his father, Prince Charles to begin enrolling.
The 13-year-old prince delighted the Royal Family when he passed his common entrance exam to gain a school place alongside William, 16.
It was not always definite that Harry would go to Eton.
At one stage, before she died, his mother Diana, Princess of Wales, thought it might be better for Harry to go to a different school because he was not quite as strong academically as William.
But, after the trauma of Diana's untimely death, Harry wanted to be at boarding school with William, who can provide additional support for his younger brother.
Eton was also favoured by the Royal Family because of its proximity to Windsor Castle, the Queen's favourite home and regular weekend residence.
Now he and Prince William have appealed to Britons to let their mother and her memory finally rest in peace.
In a statement issued two days after the first anniversary of Diana's death, Prince William, 16, and Prince Harry, 13, declared that the public mourning period should now end.
In the statement issued by Sandy Henney, the press secretary to their father, Prince Charles, they said how much comfort they had got from the public's sympathy and support.
But Henney said they believe that after a year, their mother would now want people to move on.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
Throughout the last year after the death of their mother, Prince William and Prince Harry have been comforted enormously by public sympathy and support they've been given, it's meant a great deal to them and they've asked me to express thanks once again to everyone. They've also asked me to say that they believe their mother would want people now to move on because she would have known that constant reminders of her death can create nothing but pain for those that's she has left behind, they therefore hope very much their mother and her memory can finally be allowed to rest in peace.
SUPERCAPTION: Sandy Henney, Press Secretary Prince Charles
Prince Harry's housemaster is Dr Andrew Gailey, who is given credit for helping Prince William at the time of Diana's death.
The statement concerning Diana apparently came directly from the two princes themselves, but whether or not the public and the media heed their call is beyond their control.

Eton College School RIVER PARADE
Watch the 4th of June River Parade with Eton college boys wearing floral hats on the River Thames at Eton College School. Held annually the Eton College boys, stand upright in an eight, and then disperse of the floral displays worn on their hats into the river. The 4th of June Parade normally occurs in May but in 2012 it will take place on the 2nd of June. Confusing !

England Winter Trip Day 11, Last day
Today the first thing we did is went to the Paddington Station by cab and left all the luggages at the Excess Baggage Company. From there we took a bus to Oxford Circus for Hamley Christmas Parade on the Regent Street. it was too crowd and we missed the parade.
In the afternoon we went to the Natural History Museum in South Kensington and has a great Burger at the Five Guys afterward.
From there we went back to Paddington and took Heathrow Express to the Airport.
Heathrow Express is very convenient, took only 15 minutes to the Airport, strongly recommend.
I wish you enjoy all the 11 episode of England Winter Trip series, and may be useful for your future trip.
Thanks for watching.

FACT: Normans built ZERO Mottes in England... or anywhere! IGNORANCE AND LIES DISCLOSED!
(PlS SUB!) Established wisdom: Normans conquering England piled up hills (mottes) and placed a Bailey (palisade castle) on top as this was easier than building a stone fortress. That's not correct. Mottes are prehistoric.
I guess for centuries it was convenient to say that the Normans built everything! The myth of their rapid almighty conquering power convinced everyone of this fact, especially if they used the very large ones for castles... some of the very large ones. Providing they were next to a city of course.
If we look at Mottes like Windsor Castle, it's obviously a copy of Silbury hill, which is not at all Norman. So what is going on!? It is almost as if no-one has noticed anything about the British or European landscape?
In fact, mottes seem to be very close to Pyramids, or at least the British version, which do not require bricks to build.
A recent article shows that several mottes, such as the Marlborough Mount, the Mound near Eton College, are in fact prehistoric.

The parents who refused to believe Eton was just for toffs
Walking across the historic courtyard of Eton College, Schuyler Audley-Williams looks very much at home at Britain’s most elite boarding school.
Six foot two inches tall, the 14-year-old wears the uniform of tailcoat, waistcoat, striped trousers and white tie with assurance.
His handshake is firm and he speaks with a quiet confidence. A talented rower and all-round sportsman, he recently helped Eton’s rugby sevens to second place in a 32-team inter-schools competition and is also developing a passion for drama.
‘I love it here,’ he says of the £40,000-a-year boarding school founded in 1440 by King Henry VI, taking a break from learning his lines for a production in which he has been cast as God, no less.
What’s not to love? Excellent teachers, top-notch facilities, an atmosphere of high achievement plus an alumni that reads like Who’s Who, including 19 former British prime ministers and Princes William and Harry.
Every third weekend, Schuyler, who is on a New Foundation Scholarship for boys from deprived areas, goes home to his parents Harry and Stephanie — not to some stately pile, however, but to a council estate in one of the most deprived pockets of London.
Until he left to board at Eton last September, the sprawling White City Estate in Hammersmith, West London, was the only community he’d ever known.
While some of his new contemporaries enjoy a hunting, shooting and fishing existence on vast country estates, home for Schuyler is a ground-floor flat in one of White City’s blocks of five-storey flats — which also doubled as his school after his parents decided to educate him at home, rather than send him to a failing comprehensive.
Built in the late Thirties, it houses around 5,000 people, but, despite having a strong community feel, it has (as with other similar estates) more than its fair share of poverty and social problems.
Last year, the Metropolitan Police recorded more than 1,500 crimes on the estate, the majority relating to anti-social behaviour and violent or sexual offences. And, like the rest of the capital, it is not immune to the spate of knife crime blighting the city.
It is a stark contrast to the architecture of Eton and the pleasant stroll past coffee shops to Windsor Castle across the Thames via a picturesque granite-and-iron bridge, but Schuyler always enjoys going home and the diversity of both worlds.
‘Growing up in White City, I never felt frightened. I’d never seen anything else, so I had nothing to compare it with,’ says Schuyler, choosing his words with care, for he still belongs here as much as Eton.
‘There is some crime, drugs and stabbings — not that I have seen any of that — but it’s nothing I’ve ever been afraid of, because I’ve been surrounded by that environment my whole life.
‘But I have recognised it more as I’ve grown older and it’s sad that people do get sucked into these things.
‘Obviously, Eton was a big change for me. I wasn’t particularly worried that, coming from a different background, I wouldn’t fit in, but I was hopeful I would, and I have. This feels like the right place for me and it’s sad that everybody doesn’t get this kind of opportunity.’
For his parents, it’s a relief knowing that when Schuyler goes out in Eton, they no longer have to worry about him, as a teenage boy, becoming the target of a crime wave that appears ever more indiscriminate.
As a young boy, they filled their son’s life with so many extra-curricular activities that he never had the time, energy or inclination to ask to go out to where he might have been more exposed to negative influences. They took him to libraries and museums. He sang in a choir, had swimming lessons, played tennis and cricket, and excelled at Judo — achieving an orange belt in one year.
From the age of ten, he played junior rugby with London club Wasps and, aged 12, started running with Thames Valley Harriers.
His father last year introduced Schuyler to the Fulham Reach Boat Club charity — founded to challenge the ‘elitist’ image around rowing by offering lessons to state school pupils. There, he quickly broke two British under-12 records.
‘There’s a sense of community here,’ says Schuyler’s dad, Harry Audley, 56, who, as chair of the White City Residents Association, is passionate about improving the estate that has been his home for 23 years.
‘But, since they took away our community policing team to help out with the 2012 London Olympics, there has been decline. It’s not necessarily terrible, you don’t f

Places to see in ( Windsor - UK )
Windsor is a town on the River Thames in southeast England, just west of London. It’s home to Windsor Castle, a residence of the British Royal Family. Built by William The Conqueror in the 11th century, the castle was extensively remodelled by subsequent monarchs. Public tours take in the State Apartments, which contain opulent furnishings, and paintings from the royal art collection.
Windsor is a historic market town and unparished area in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead in Berkshire, England. Windsor is widely known as the site of Windsor Castle, one of the official residences of the British Royal Family.
Windsor is situated 23 miles (37 km) west of Charing Cross, London, 7 miles (11 km) south east of Maidenhead, and 21 miles (34 km) east of the county town of Reading. It is immediately south of the River Thames, which forms its boundary with its ancient twin town of Eton. The village of Old Windsor, just over 2 miles (3 km) to the south, predates what is now called Windsor by around 300 years; in the past Windsor was formally referred to as New Windsor to distinguish the two.
As a result of the castle, Windsor is a popular tourist destination and has facilities usually found in larger towns: two railway stations, a theatre and several substantial hotels. Various boat trips operate on the River Thames, with connections to Maidenhead and Staines-upon-Thames. In winter, Alexandra Gardens hosts a temporary ice rink. Near the town is Legoland Windsor, the only Legoland park in the United Kingdom and the largest Legoland park in the world in terms of area. Legoland Windsor was built on the site of the former Windsor Safari Park.
Windsor is accessible from Junction 6 of the M4 and from Slough via a 3 mile long dual carriageway. Windsor has two railway stations. Windsor & Eton Central railway station has a shuttle service to Slough. Windsor & Eton Riverside station provides a service to London Waterloo. Windsor is linked to the town of Eton (on the opposite bank of the River Thames) by Windsor Bridge.

ENORMOUS PIECE OF FUDGE!!!!
ENORMOUS PIECE OF FUDGE!!!!
Sunday 14th August 2016
We are going to Windsor today for a barbecue at Becky's auntie and uncles. We thought that as we don't need to get there until about 4pm that we would visit Eton College which is just down the road. I have never been there before or even knew that you could visit, but I had heard of it as being one of the top public schools in the country.
Anyway we parked outside the natural history museum which conveniently was open to the public on Sunday afternoons. We then ventured to the college building which was closed due to building work. And we had a walk through the village centre. We went into a fudge shop and bought some fudge and then headed back to the car. It was a shame we couldn't go into the college but we will go back another time when it is open!
Joss brought his bug collecting gizmo that he got for Christmas and we had a go at catching a few bugs. Butterflies were top on the list but the net provided was quite small so we really struggled. We did catch some smaller bugs though and a centipede!
Thanks for watching, hit the thumbs up and next time we will be in Espana!!!
