China: Visiting The Fantastic Henan Museum
The Henan Museum in Zhengzhou (pronounced Jung-Joe) was completely unlike any other museum we've ever visited. I hate to admit it but museums usually leave me cold. Modern, every display marked in Chinese and English AND you are allowed to videotape and take photographs (without flash). How unusual is that!
Priceless objects. What I wouldn't give to come across one of these in China's flea markets. Watch to the conclusion of this video for a most unique finish ...

Akhal-Teke horses see boom in NW China’s Xinjiang
Akhal-Teke horses are a rare breed known for their superior speed, endurance and intelligence. Reports say there are only about 3,000 on the planet, mostly found in central Asia, like Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. The animals – also known as heavenly horses – now play an important role in China not only to preserve the number of pure-bloods, but also to improve local breeds. CGTN's Zheng Yibing has more.

Objects Unearthed from Ancient Tomb on Display in east China City
Objects unearthed from the best preserved ancient tomb have been put on display starting on Tuesday in east China's Jiangxi Provincial Museum in Nanchang.
On display are nearly 1,000 items unearthed from a tomb believed to be a duke known as Haihunhou in the Western Han Dynasty(206 B.C.- A.D.9).
A total of 992 objects are on display at the exhibition that covers an area of 2,300 square meters. Most of them, such as the jade seal bearing the name Liu He -- the most important article to show the identity of the tomb owner, and other relics unearthed are open to the public for the first time, said Ye Rong, deputy curator of the museum.
Archeologists started the excavation in 2011 and have so far unearthed about 10,000 relics, including bronze, jade, golden discs and 5,000 bamboo slips containing texts from Chinese classics.
Experts said the excavation has brought a clearer understanding of the burial practices and coffin structures of that time. It will take years to study the relics excavated.

Ancient Art Links - Chinese Landscape Paintings at the Metropolitan Museum (大都会博物馆中国山水画)
“Chinese Landscape Paintings at the Metropolitan Museum” explores China’s thousand-year-old tradition of landscape painting. Asian Art curator Joseph Scheier-Dolberg leads a guided tour through the galleries: Landscapes of Poetry, Landscapes of Magic, Landscapes of Reclusion, and more. The program takes advantage of modern technology to magnify the fascinating details, which otherwise would be missed by general viewers. These landscape treasures reflect the Daoism view of the world, that humans are tiny compared to the majesty of nature, and that only mountains and rivers last for eternity.
Ancient Art Links, a CUNY TV Digital Series, is a miniseries produced by Quan Ou, dedicated to exploring history via stories and profiles of ancient art treasures. The series of short films aims to bridge an information gap between members of the general public and art historians, and to become an entertaining and enlightening way to reflect on the past and the common links that join civilizations and humanity.

Danish Museum Exhibits Chinese Terracotta Army Artifact
An exhibition of Chinese artifacts including Emperor Qin Shi Huang's terracotta army, opened at Denmark's Moesgard Museum on Wednesday.
The exhibition features over 120 rare artifacts that were drawn from more than 13 institutions in China's Shaanxi Province, including 10 large terracotta sculptures portraying warriors, government officials and horses from the Qin and Han Dynasty.
The exhibition is a part of series of cultural exchanges to commemorate the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Denmark and the People's Republic of China.
Chinese Ambassador to Denmark Liu Biwei attended the opening ceremony and gave a speech.
This exhibition indeed promotes Chinese culture and the long history of our country, to Denmark, to Europe and to the world. At the same time it marks the strengthening of the China-Denmark relations, Liu said.
I think it's nice for everyone to get so close to all the objects in there and like can stand in front of the warriors, and sort of looking to the eyes. I think I like that with the exhibition. That was what I experienced in Xi'an when I went to Shaanxi History Museum, to stand in front of the warriors and to look them into the eyes. I think we have a little of the same here, said Marianne Schwarz, curator of the Moesgaard Museum.
Queen Margrethe II of Denmark and Prince Henrik also attended the opening ceremony and visited the exhibition.
Queen Margrethe II visited the Terracotta Warriors Museum in Shaanxi Province during her first trip to China in 1979. She was the first foreign leader who went into the excavation pit to see the warriors close up.
Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a message via the Chinese Ambassador wishing the exhibition a great success. More on:
