Ysitkil Naftaliev: German atrocities against the Mountain Jews.
Even before I joined the army,
I heard about German atrocities.
If captured, Jews and Communists
were ordered to step forward.
They were shot immediately.
I heard about this.
The Germans made it all the way
to the Northern Caucasus.
In 1942, I was still at
home in Makhachkala.I turned 17 the summer of 1942.The Germans captured the city of Nalchik.
To this day there are
a lot of Jews in Nalchik.
There were many Mountain Jews
in Grozny and Pyatigorsk too.
I heard about the capture of Nalchik.
Nalchik is about 400 km north of
Makhachkala.
It's located between Pyatigorsk and
Grozny.
It was rumored that the
Germans wrote to Hitler:
We've found all of these Mountain Jews
in Nalchik.
What should we do with them?
I don't know if this actually happened.
Supposedly Hitler replied:
What difference does it make
if the dog is black or white?
It is still just a dog.
Many Mountain Jews were killed.
Russia: Ancient altar with figures of Greek gods found in Sevastopol
A unique archaeological finding, fragments of ancient Greek homestead that is believed to be nearly 2,400 years old, was discovered on the outskirts of Sevastopol by researchers from Museum Reserve of Tauric Chersonesos, Friday.
Maxim Tyurin, researcher at Museum Reserve of Tauric Chersonesos (Russian): Several years ago this object of the archaeological heritage attracted attention of burglars who managed to dig more than 15 large pits. After these pits were discovered, a question of providing protections to this place as well as carrying out archaeological excavations was raised. We have already started the process.

Russian politics. ''Duel'' talk show. Zhirinovsky vs Bortko. ''Revolution of 1917'' (English subs)
FOR SUBTITLES TURN CAPTIONS (CC) ON.
RECOMMENDED to read the description first.
This is a political talk show ''Duel'', where Zhirinovsky argues with Bortko about the October revolution of 1917.
This Bortko character is just talking gibberish. Sometimes I don't understand at all what he's saying. If a phrase doesn't make sence to you, that means, I couldn't figure it out myself, and I wrote the way I heard it. It doesn't make any sence. Just freaking nonesence.
This was a hard translation, because many times people talking at the same time. But I triend to translate more interesting, in my opinion, lines. I tried to translate more of Zhirinovsky, and not the others.
Don't mind the counter. It's not valid. I haven't see 2 videos of this show which had the same counter. In reality, Bortko won with about 2.000-3.000 votes (I might be mistaking of course).
Abbreviations:
SECC - State of Emergency Central Committee
CPSU - Communist Party of Soviet Union
CC - Central Committee
CCCPSU - Central Committee of Communist Party of Soviet Union
CPRF - Communist Party of Russian Federation
UWPB - Union Wide Party of Bolsheviks
NKVD (PCIA) - People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs
MSU - Moscow State University
Enjoy!
Thanks for watching!

AVARS (CAUCASUS) - WikiVidi Documentary
The Avars are a Northeast Caucasian native ethnic group who are the predominant of several ethnic groups living in the Russian republic of Dagestan. The Avars reside in a region known as the North Caucasus between the Black and Caspian Seas. Alongside other ethnic groups in the North Caucasus region, the Caucasian Avars live in ancient villages located approximately 2,000 m above sea level. The Avar language spoken by the Caucasian Avars belongs to the family of Northeast Caucasian languages and is also known as Nakh–Dagestanian. Islam has been the prevailing religion of the Avars since the 13th century. The Avar Khaganate had become their peak empire until a disastrous war with the First Bulgarian Empire. This catastrophe, led by Bulgarian Emperor Krum and his invincible army, forced the total destruction and east migration of the Avar empire and people....

The Beasts of Kabul: Inside the Afghan Army's Soviet Tanks
Once a common fixture of the Soviet invasion, and later, the civil war between the Taliban and the Northern Alliance, tanks have largely vanished from today's unconventional war in Afghanistan.
But decades later, from a base on the outskirts of the capital city of Kabul, a few hundred Afghan soldiers still ride rusting museum pieces into battle against the Taliban. We go inside the last few tanks that are kept running solely by using parts from other old tanks. Read more at: stripes.com/1.294062

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.

SUMMARY
=======
Russia (Russian: Росси́я, tr. Rossiya, IPA: [rɐˈsʲijə]), officially the Russian Federation (Russian: Росси́йская Федера́ция, tr. Rossiyskaya Federatsiya, IPA: [rɐˈsʲijskəjə fʲɪdʲɪˈratsɨjə]), is a country in Eurasia. At 17,125,200 square kilometres (6,612,100 sq mi), Russia is the largest country in the world by area, covering more than one-eighth of the Earth's inhabited land area, and the ninth most populous, with about 144.5 million people as of 2018, excluding Crimea. About 77% of the population live in the western, European part of the country. Russia's capital, Moscow, is the largest metropolitan area in Europe proper and one of the largest cities in the world; other major cities include Saint Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg and Nizhny Novgorod. Extending across the entirety of Northern Asia and much of Eastern Europe, Russia spans eleven time zones and incorporates a wide range of environments and landforms. From northwest to southeast, Russia shares land borders with Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland (both with Kaliningrad Oblast), Belarus, Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, China, Mongolia and North Korea. It shares maritime borders with Japan by the Sea of Okhotsk and the U.S. state of Alaska across the Bering Strait. However, Russia recognises two more countries that border it, Abkhazia and South Ossetia, both of which are internationally recognized as parts of Georgia.
The East Slavs emerged as a recognizable group in Europe between the 3rd and 8th centuries AD. Founded and ruled by a Varangian warrior elite and their descendants, the medieval state of Rus arose in the 9th century. In 988 it adopted Orthodox Christianity from the Byzantine Empire, beginning the synthesis of Byzantine and Slavic cultures that defined Russian culture for the next millennium. Rus' ultimately disintegrated into a number of smaller states; most of the Rus' lands were overrun by the Mongol invasion and became tributaries of the nomadic Golden Horde in the 13th century. The Grand Duchy of Moscow gradually reunified the surrounding Russian principalities, achieved independence from the Golden Horde. By the 18th century, the nation had greatly expanded through conquest, annexation, and exploration to become the Russian Empire, which was the third largest empire in history, stretching from Poland on the west to Alaska on th ...

December 10, 2014: I flew to Russia on December 10. To be more precise I took the plane to the magnificent city of Sankt Petersburg. My good friend Aleksey Kuochnin picked me up in the airport. Aleksey is truly a great friend and had already organized a seminar on Indian and Persian swordsmanship the previous year in Moscow. I was really happy to see Aleksey. Aleksey is an avid practitioner of Indian martial arts, a very good researcher with published articles on antique arms and armor and has also very good contacts to the Russian museums.
