Nin - Croatia (Horvátország)
Egy sekély lagúna közepén elterülő szigeten fekszik. Alagúnában számos sólepárló működik. A városkát hidak kötik össze a szárazfölddel.
A püspök emlékét, a településen szobor őrzi.
A Sv. Kriz (Szent Kereszt)-templom a 11. században épült, a legkisebb katedrális nevet kapta a művészettörténészektől. Az egykori római fórumon álló Sv. Mihovil (Szent Mihály)-templom 9. századi eredetű.
A városkában a templomokon kívül a római kortól a 17. századig terjedő időszak számos műemlék épülete és épületmaradványa érdemes megtekintésre.

Neanderthal Man in Krapina, Croatia
In the fascinating world of paleontology one species has attracted more attention than most others, the study of the Neanderthals named after their first discovery in the Neander Valley of Germany. Neanderthals are thought to be the closet species related to you and I before they died out some 25,000 years ago. This site located outside of Krapina, Croatia is home to one of the largest fossil collections of Neanderthals in one place. Since it's original discovery in 1899 thousands of ancient fossils dating from 30,000 to 130,000 years ago have been found and identified.

Novalja - the best party destination in Europe
If you're not from Croatia, you've probably heard of Novalja because of Zrće Beach, one of the biggest and the best summer party zone in Europe
There's more to Novalja than Zrće
Novalja is a town located in the north of Pag Island. The earliest settlers were ancient Illyrian tribes from the Bronze Age, the remains of their settlements can still be seen around Pag.
Where Novalja stands now, there once stood a Roman city called Cissa. Croatian tribes arrived in the 7th century in the period of great migrations and established their rule of the island. Since then, Pag changed hands many times and was always fought over. Croatians and Venetians fought over it, then the French and the Austrians, then it became part of Yugoslavia and finally of the Republic of Croatia.
Monuments and landmarks
Novalja has the remains of three early-christian basilicas from 4th and 5th century. Novalja town museum is one of the most interesting cultural buildings mainly due to it having an underground aqueduct from antiquity. The aqueduct is carved in stone by hand in its entirety and is over 1 kilometer long with the average width of 60 centimeters.
Only few kilometers from Novalja town, you can find a natural phenomenon called Paški trokut (Pag triangle). It is a megalithic print in stone in the shape of isosceles triangle with the dimensions of 32x32x22 meters and looks like it was made with a huge iron. The origin of the print remains an unknown even today; some say it was left by UFO-s but that's just a guess.

15 Things to do in Athens, Greece Travel Guide Video Transcript: (Αθηνα Ελλάδα):
In today’s video, we’re taking you to Athens!
Home to gods, goddesses and enough temples to house them all, the Greek capital is the place to get a glimpse of Ancient Greece.
This was our second time visiting the city, but with only 3 days, we decided to focus on the highlights. For us, that meant ancient ruins, lots of greek food, and a lookout point or two to catch the city looking her best right around sunset.
Let’s begin with the main attraction and a place that has dominated the city skyline for millennia: the Acropolis.
Contrary to popular belief, the Acropolis is not one single building, but rather, an ancient citadel which holds a few different structures.
The archaeological site is lined with ancient theatres, altars and temples, and once you reach the top, there are two places that will catch your eye.
The first is the Parthenon, an ancient temple dedicated to the goddess Athena.
The other, is the Erechtheum, another temple that was dedicated to both Athena and Poseidon. It’s hard to miss its Porch of the Maidens, with its six draped female figures acting as support columns.
it was just a short walk over to the Temple of Olympian Zeus.
Construction of this temple began in the 6th century BC and it wouldn’t be completed until the reign of Hadrian in the 2nd century AD.
It took about 638 years to build this temple, but it would have been the largest temple in Greece and one of the most impressive constructions of the ancient world.
While in Athens, we also climbed Mount Lycabettus.
This is a rather steep hill that rises 300 meters above sea level, and it’s a nice place to catch sunset over Athens.
As a travel tip: there is a funicular to take you up and down the hill if you want to save your legs!
In this video, we’re going to share with you 15 things to do in Athens, Greece, so let’s get started!
That’s a wrap for our guide to Athens!
We hope this video gave you a few ideas of what you can cover on a short visit.
If you have any other suggestions of things to do in Athens that you’d like to share with travellers, feel free to leave your travel tips in the comments below.
We’ll see you in the next video as we continue our travels through Greece.
This is part of our Travel in Greece video series showcasing Greek food, Greek culture and Greek cuisine.

SUMMARY
=======
Maritime archaeology (also known as marine archaeology) is a discipline within archaeology as a whole that specifically studies human interaction with the sea, lakes and rivers through the study of associated physical remains, be they vessels, shore-side facilities, port-related structures, cargoes, human remains and submerged landscapes. A specialty within maritime archaeology is nautical archaeology, which studies ship construction and use.As with archaeology as a whole, maritime archaeology can be practised within the historical, industrial, or prehistoric periods. An associated discipline, and again one that lies within archaeology itself, is underwater archaeology, which studies the past through any submerged remains be they of maritime interest or not. An example from the prehistoric era would be the remains of submerged settlements or deposits now lying under water despite having been dry land when sea levels were lower. The study of submerged aircraft lost in lakes, rivers or in the sea is an example from the historical, industrial or modern era. Many specialist sub-disciplines within the broader maritime and underwater archaeological categories have emerged in recent years.Maritime archaeological sites often result from shipwrecks or sometimes seismic activity, and thus represent a moment in time rather than a slow deposition of material accumulated over a period of years, as is the case with port-related structures (such as piers, wharves, docks and jetties) where objects are lost or thrown off structures over extended periods of time. This fact has led to shipwrecks often being described in the media and in popular accounts as 'time capsules'.
Archaeological material in the sea or in other underwater environments is typically subject to different factors than artifacts on land. However, as with terrestrial archaeology, what survives to be investigated by modern archaeologists can often be a tiny fraction of the material originally deposited. A feature of maritime archaeology is that despite all the material that is lost, there are occasional rare examples of substantial survival, from which a great deal can be learned, due to the difficulties often experienced in accessing the sites.
There are those in the archaeology community who see maritime archaeology as a separate discipline with its own concerns (such as shipwrecks) and requiring the specialized skills of the underwater archaeologist. Others value an integrated approach, stressing that nautical activity has economic and social links to communities on land and that archaeology is archaeology no matter where the study is conducted. All that is required is the mastering of skills specific to the environment in which the work occurs.

Calling All Cars: The General Kills at Dawn / The Shanghai Jester / Sands of the Desert
The radio show Calling All Cars hired LAPD radio dispacher Jesse Rosenquist to be the voice of the dispatcher. Rosenquist was already famous because home radios could tune into early police radio frequencies. As the first police radio dispatcher presented to the public ear, his was the voice that actors went to when called upon for a radio dispatcher role.
The iconic television series Dragnet, with LAPD Detective Joe Friday as the primary character, was the first major media representation of the department. Real LAPD operations inspired Jack Webb to create the series and close cooperation with department officers let him make it as realistic as possible, including authentic police equipment and sound recording on-site at the police station.
Due to Dragnet's popularity, LAPD Chief Parker became, after J. Edgar Hoover, the most well known and respected law enforcement official in the nation. In the 1960s, when the LAPD under Chief Thomas Reddin expanded its community relations division and began efforts to reach out to the African-American community, Dragnet followed suit with more emphasis on internal affairs and community policing than solving crimes, the show's previous mainstay.
Several prominent representations of the LAPD and its officers in television and film include Adam-12, Blue Streak, Blue Thunder, Boomtown, The Closer, Colors, Crash, Columbo, Dark Blue, Die Hard, End of Watch, Heat, Hollywood Homicide, Hunter, Internal Affairs, Jackie Brown, L.A. Confidential, Lakeview Terrace, Law & Order: Los Angeles, Life, Numb3rs, The Shield, Southland, Speed, Street Kings, SWAT, Training Day and the Lethal Weapon, Rush Hour and Terminator film series. The LAPD is also featured in the video games Midnight Club II, Midnight Club: Los Angeles, L.A. Noire and Call of Juarez: The Cartel.
The LAPD has also been the subject of numerous novels. Elizabeth Linington used the department as her backdrop in three different series written under three different names, perhaps the most popular being those novel featuring Det. Lt. Luis Mendoza, who was introduced in the Edgar-nominated Case Pending. Joseph Wambaugh, the son of a Pittsburgh policeman, spent fourteen years in the department, using his background to write novels with authentic fictional depictions of life in the LAPD. Wambaugh also created the Emmy-winning TV anthology series Police Story. Wambaugh was also a major influence on James Ellroy, who wrote several novels about the Department set during the 1940s and 1950s, the most famous of which are probably The Black Dahlia, fictionalizing the LAPD's most famous cold case, and L.A. Confidential, which was made into a film of the same name. Both the novel and the film chronicled mass-murder and corruption inside and outside the force during the Parker era. Critic Roger Ebert indicates that the film's characters (from the 1950s) represent the choices ahead for the LAPD: assisting Hollywood limelight, aggressive policing with relaxed ethics, and a straight arrow approach.

The Bosnian Pyramids Explained by Dr. Sam Osmanagich
Sam Osmanagich is the Bosnian native, author, and amateur archaeologist who, while on a 2005 book tour, noticed the pyramidal mountains surrounding Visoko. Despite being covered with native forest and vegetation, these peaks had four precise sides that met at a point at their summits, some were more identifiable as others, but Osmanagich believes that all were produced by humans. The largest, named the “Pyramid of the Sun” by Osmanagich, has ruins at the summit believed to be associated with medieval kings.
Profesor Sam Osmanagich brings long-awaited validation from the scientific community with proof of multiple pyramids in the Bosnian village of Visoko. The main pyramids - the Pyramid of the Sun and the Pyramid of the Moon - have revealed many astounding surprises in advanced materials use, energy management, as well as understandings of physics and what the human body needs to heal. Professor Sam has shared the results of many experiments indicating that the energies in the Pyramid's tunnels change blood cells, electromagnetic terrain and has been shown to facilitate healing for many. The pyramids have been dated to 30,000 - 40,000 years old - long before the famous Egyptian pyramids.
