Richmond upon Thames in south-west London, England, forms part of Outer London and is the only London borough on both sides of the River Thames. Richmond upon Thames was created in 1965 when three smaller council areas amalgamated under the London Government Act 1963. It is governed by Richmond upon Thames London Borough Council.
Richmond upon Thames is home to the National Physical Laboratory and the attractions of Kew Gardens, Hampton Court Palace, Twickenham Stadium and the WWT London Wetlands Centre that draw domestic and international tourism. Parks take up a great deal of the Richmond upon Thames and include Richmond Park, Bushy Park, Kew Gardens, and Hampton Court Park. There are over 100 parks and open spaces within its boundary and 21 miles (34 km) of river frontage. 140 hectares within the borough are designated as part of the Metropolitan Green Belt.
Richmond upon Thames is home to the National Physical Laboratory and the attractions of Hampton Court Palace, Twickenham Stadium and the WWT London Wetlands Centre that draw domestic and international tourism. The river Thames becomes narrower than at any part of Inner London towards its flow into the borough and becomes non-tidal at Teddington Lock in the borough; its main axis runs south to north, rather than west to east through more than half of the Richmond upon Thames .
Richmond upon Thames is served by many Transport for London bus routes. Richmond upon Thames is connected to central London and Reading by the National Rail services of South West Trains. The London Underground's District line serves Richmond and Kew Gardens stations: both are also served by London Overground trains on the North London Line. The other stations are: Barnes; Barnes Bridge; Fulwell; Hampton; Hampton Wick; Mortlake; North Sheen; St Margarets; Strawberry Hill; Teddington; Twickenham and Whitton.
The Twickenham Museum is a volunteer-run museum opposite St Mary's parish church. The Museum of Richmond, in Richmond's Old Town Hall, close to Richmond Bridge, has displays relating to the history of Richmond, Ham, Petersham and Kew. Orleans House Gallery in Twickenham displays material from the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames' art collection. Garrick's Temple to Shakespeare in Hampton hosts a free Sunday afternoon Shakespeare exhibition from April to October and a series of summer drama, music and exhibitions.
Richmond has two theatres. The Richmond Theatre at the side of Little Green is a Victorian structure designed by Frank Matcham and restored and extended by Carl Toms in 1990. The theatre has a weekly schedule of plays and musicals, usually given by professional touring companies, and pre-West End shows can sometimes be seen. There is a Christmas and New Year pantomime tradition and many of Britain's greatest music hall and pantomime performers have appeared here. Close to Richmond railway station is the Orange Tree Theatre which was founded in 1971 in a room above the Orange Tree pub. The Cabbage Patch pub on London Road near Twickenham railway station has, since 1983, been a regular venue for live music on Sunday nights, organised by TwickFolk.

London Districts: Richmond (Documentary)
Episode 38 looks at the south west London district of 'Richmond'. Watch #LondonDistricts episodes on TV with bonus content @ Sky 117, Freeview 8, Virgin Media 159 and YouView 8 via London Live. Subtitles available under video via CC button.
----------------------------------------
Richmond is the principal district inside the massive London Borough of Richmond-upon-Thames along with the areas of Kew, Twickenham and Hampton to name a few.
The view we are looking at are the meadows and riverbanks of Petersham, a village on the eastern end of the district and Ham Lands, a nature reserve in the Ham area which crosses over into Richmond.
This district is as large as most inner London boroughs and more than 75% of it is Richmond Park wrapped inside an 8 mile, Grade II listed wall. It's 7 times bigger than Hyde Park, 32 times bigger than Greenwich Park and Green Park can fit inside it 60 times. At 2,300 acres, it is by far the largest of all the Royal parks. About 650 red and fallow deer roam around in there freely with the public and they shape the way the park looks.
Richmond upon Thames is the only borough in Greater London stretching across both sides of our meandering river situated 8 miles away from Charing Cross in transport zone 4.
Until 1501, Richmond was known as Shene. The last two letters were later swapped around to read s-h-e-e-n. Henry VIII's dad, the last English king to win his throne on the field of battle, renamed the place Richmond. The word is adapted from old French Richmont which is simply rich or splendid together with mont which means hill.
So, we're here in Richmond to enjoy this gorgeous day, by the river, fantastic foodie market. We're drinking Rose by Conte Leopardi; our wines are naturally made, just gorgeous drinking. No sugars added on a sunny day out in Richmond close by the Thames.
Richmond is a place that pays homage to its becoming. It includes a free museum which showcases its history and produces the remembrance poppies sold each November for Remembrance Day.
The atmosphere in Richmond is perfectly suited to its infrastructural make-up. On a nice day, the riverside quickly becomes full of people partaking in the beautiful setting by the river. If you plan to see all Richmond has to offer, I would advise renting a bike, a row boat or taking a cruise up and down it.
This place has a reputation for being well looked after and visually pretty. It is also officially the London district with the lowest amount of poverty and has very low-crimes rates. It's no secret that Richmond is the district of choice for several of our most renowned international actors, musicians and athletes. The list is long but you may find the likes of Angelina Jolie, Tom Hardy, Jane Horrocks, Brad Pitt, Mick Jagger and ahem Rick Astley walking past you.
This is the church of St Mary Magdalene, the sinner who Jesus reformed by casting 7 demons out of her. After she told her mates what he did, they also became his followers.
Richmond Theatre opened in 1899 beside Little Green with a performance of 'As You Like It'.
At the heart of the town sits Richmond Green which is almost square open grassland. The locals tell me this is the real treasure of Richmond. They go there to chill out on summer weekends and public holidays. It was traditionally used for archery since the 16th century but is now much better known as one of the places cricket matches began in England. The 92-year-old celebrated broadcaster and naturalist Sir David Attenborough actively lives in a house circling this green and describes Richmond as his ''favourite place by a long way''.
Gelateria Danieli was birthed in Richmond making authentic gelato more readily available in the UK. Richmond Bridge is 243 years old, the oldest surviving bridge over the River Thames. Ham house here is the most completely in tact one across Europe from 1610.

Introducing the new Mayor of Richmond
Cllr Nancy Baldwin was formally sworn in as the 55th Mayor of Richmond upon Thames on Tuesday 14 May 2019.
Cllr Baldwin, who won her council seat in the May 2018 election, has made Richmond her home since 1985 and represents North Richmond for the Liberal Democrats with a special interest in education, children and families.
She begins her Mayoral year after a varied career in which she has worked as a banker, teacher, entrepreneur and actor. Cllr Baldwin lives in Richmond with her husband Adrian and has two sons, Peter and Andrew, who attended local schools and live in London.
Cllr Baldwin will serve Richmond as Mayor for the next 12 months and has chosen to raise money for Home-Start and The Otakar Kraus Music Trust (OKMT). Cllr James Chard, a councillor for Twickenham Riverside, will serve as Deputy Mayor.
Home-Start provides assistance and support to young families who are in struggling with the demands and stresses of parenting young children. Parents with very young children may suffer from isolation and experience difficulties coping with their children’s needs. Home-Start volunteers support these families to develop coping and parenting skills which can help build happy resilient families.
OKMT provides music therapy and projects to children, young people and adults with physical, learning, neurological or psychological difficulties. A small local charity, OK Music Trust, allows these children and adults to express themselves and find community through music.

Richmond Deer Park - London UK
Richmond Park, at almost 1000 hectares (2500 acres), is the largest Royal Park in London and is home to around 650 free roaming deer. The pastoral landscape of hills, woodlands, ponds, gardens and grasslands set amongst ancient trees offers a peaceful respite to visitors.
Hawker Aircraft Ltd (BA) Factory Richmond Road Ham
Background: Hawker Aircraft Ltd took over the Ham site from Leyland Motors in 1948, when Leyland decide to concentrate their production in the Midlands and North. Interestingly, the original Sopwith Company (forerunners of Hawkers) had also leased this same building between 1918 and 1920. It was finally closed in 1992 and demolished in 1993.
Brooklands Museum was offered some items from there and I attended with some other Brooklands Recovery Engineering And Salvage Team ( ) members to collect them up. This short video shows you a little of the old building.

Hi hi !! I've switched up my editing style for this one, hope you enjoy :)

13th November - Walking London
We started the day in Vauxhall by the Thames, making our way up to the Tate Modern museum. We then headed over to St. Paul's, Oxford Street and Covent Garden. Finally, walking through Trafalgar square and Westminster. It was honestly the perfect weather, I'm so glad we picked that day.
14th November - Visiting Oma
Just popped down to Weybridge to visit her. Fun fact: She didn't know I was filming anything, so I'm not quite sure how she's going to react to this :)
16th November - Up to Lancaster
When I arrived, I had plans to visit some of the town and visit the local castle, that didn't exactly happen (do the local clubs count ?) Tbh we spent most of the weekend around her dorm catching up :)
20th November - Rainy and cold
While sometimes the weather was nice and warm, I also got to see the cold and wet London. With heavy rain and a temperature of 2 degrees, I opted to stay inside with the bunnies. I know its not the most interesting day of my trip but I liked how the clips turned out. Also can we appreciate how cute my aunts bunnies are?
21st November - Wandering London with Maja
Catching up with another friend, we headed to Borough Markets in search of eclectic shops and stalls. We settled for some warm spiced cider and pulled pork burgers (10/10 would recommend). Afterwards, we visited the Camden Markets (I literally only took one clip there ??).
26th November - Design Museum
Honestly such an underrated museum in London, located near Kensington. It's a pretty small museum but the architecture was so nice!
29th November - Oxford Street & Kinky Boots
Ironically I didn't film anything in Oxford Street, but we did find a perfectly Instagramable cafe a couple streets over. Then we walked down Carnaby Street and headed to Kinky Boots! Such a good musical with a great cast, definitely try and catch it if you're in London.
30th November - Wisley Gardens
Out of London, in Surrey, the nice weather and blue skies had returned! While these clips might not be that interesting, I love shooting nature footage (so I very much enjoyed filming this bit)
Thanks for watching (and reading if you made it this far) !!

Richmond, the capital of Virginia, is among America’s oldest major cities. Patrick Henry, a U.S. Founding Father, famously declared “Give me liberty or give me death” at its St. John's Church in 1775, leading to the Revolutionary War. The White House of the Confederacy, home of Confederate President Jefferson Davis during the Civil War, is now a museum in Court End, a neighborhood known for Federal-style mansions.
Richmond has been called a city of neighborhoods, each one with a distinct look, flavor, and identity. All are recognized by Richmonders as unique neighborhoods, almost as though the city were a collection of several small towns.

Richmond is the capital of the Commonwealth of Virginia. It was settled in 1607 by an English settler named Capt. Christopher Newport and Capt. John Smith. The site was previously inhabited by the Powhatan Indians. It was named Richmond after the London suburb of Richmond-upon-Thames by its founder William Byrd II. The settlement did not become a city until 1742, and in the 135 years in between served as little more than a trading post for furs, hides, and tobacco. In 1782 Richmond became the state capital of Virginia. Richmond is one of the oldest American cities. The Shockoe Bottom entertainment area is where slave rebellion leader Gabriel had his head hung from a pike. During the Civil War, it served as the capital of the Confederacy.
Today the 'River City' shares a buzzing food-and-drink scene and an active arts community. The rough-and-tumble James River has also grabbed more of the spotlight, drawing outdoor adventurers to its rapids and trails. Richmond is also an undeniably handsome town that is easy to stroll, full of red-brick row houses, stately drives and leafy parks.
