Ethnological Museums: From Curiosa to World Culture: And What Comes Next?
In her talk “From Curiosa to World Culture: what comes next”, Adriana Muñoz describes how the Swedish Värlskulturmuseet in Göteborg defines its new role in the Swedish society. She points out that “museums with wholly or partially ethnographical direction must, even more than now, have an important mission in promoting contacts between Swedish and non-Swedish cultures”. Muñoz looks as a curator at the history of the collection from a post-colonial perspective.
Adriana Muñoz is curator for the Collections at the National Museums of World Culture. She studied history in Argentina and archaeology in Sweden. Since 1998 she has been working as curator and in charge of a number of exhibitions at the Etnografiska Museet i Gothenburg as well as at the Museum of World Culture. She has been exploring how categories have been constructed in Ethnographic museums in relationship to the Colonial period. She has been working with possibilities of de-colonial practices in museums. Adriana has been working for ICOM with problems around the illegal import/export of archaeological plundered objects from Latin America.

GOTHENBURG Sweden GOTEBORG
Gothenburg (Swedish: Göteborg is a city and municipality in the province Västergötland on the west-coast of Sweden. As of 2005, the population amounted to 487,000 in the actual city. Gothenburg is the largest university city in Scandinavia with some 60,000 students. The city is situated where the Göta Älv discharges into the Kattegat; the River divides the city in two halves: the upper part located on the island Hisingen. The inlet of Göta Älv is well suited for a harbour, and Gothenburg has expanded its port into becoming the largest among the Nordic countries. Gothenburg has a wide selection of cultural establishments worth seeing. A new opera house was inaugurated in 1994, the Gothenburg Opera. Museums include art (Gothenburg Museum of Art) and (Göteborgs Konsthall), design and handcrafts (the Röhss Museum), sea history, natural history, science, East India, and the Museum of World Culture [1] inaugurated in 2004. Kungsportsavenyn, commonly known as just Avenyn, The Avenue, is the main boulevard.
Avenyn passes the Stora teatern, a Neo-Renaissance theatre and opera building from 1859, and has a major concentration of pubs, discoteques and restaurants. The Göteborg Botanical Garden [6] is considered to be one of the most outstanding botanical gardens in Europe.
Just across Dag Hammarskjöldsleden is Gothenburg's largest park, Slottskogen, where you can visit Gothenburg's Natural History Museum (Naturhistoriska Museet), a tropical animal park (Tropikhuset), a children's zoo (Barnens Zoo), and a family animal park (Djurgårdarna). The park is also home to the city's oldest observatory, but if you prefer, it's a perfect place for sun-bathing, picnicking, or taking a relaxing stroll through Gothenburg's shady forests. The amusement park Liseberg located in the central part of the city, is the largest in Scandinavia, and the most popular attraction in Sweden by number of visitors per year ( 3 millions). Next to Liseberg is the science discovery centre Universeum. The central city and the harbour can be viewed from the The Gothenburg Lookout.

????????STOCKHOLM Sweden | TOP 10 sights | Travel Vlog
If Sweden is our captor, then we definitely got a case of Stockholm Syndrome!
The capital of Sweden and the largest city in the country, Stockholm is regarded as one of the most beautiful capitals in the world. There are a number of attractions and sights to visit, this city appeals to the imagination of many tourists from around the world and here is our personal recommendations.

2. Swedish food.
There is some traditional food in Sweden you should definitely try, because it's really delicious. Here are a few much common dishes you might get served in a restaurant if you ask for something typically Swedish.

The Vasa Museum (Vasa Museet) is a maritime museum displaying the only almost fully intact 17th century ship that has ever been salvaged, the 64-gun warship Vasa that sank on her maiden voyage in 1628. Opened in 1990, the Vasa Museum is one of the most visited museums in Scandinavia.
5. Nordic museum.
Nordic Museum is the Sweden's biggest historical center of social history. Arranged on the Djurgarden Island in the focal point of Stockholm, the superb exhibition hall building is one of Stockholm's actual historic points and certainly justified regardless of a visit in itself. An assortment of displays on mold and materials, furniture and insides, china and table settings, people workmanship, adornments, photography, patterns, and customs.
6. Millesgarden.
Millesgarden is called by many an oasis, and it is very true. It is an ensemble of terraces, gardens, stairs, fountains all decorated by beautiful sculptures. Many of those sculptures are put on high pillars and seem to be frozen in mid-air. It creates a unique feeling of lightness and helps to understand the deep poetry of those pieces of art.
7. Fotografiska (Photography Museum).
The Swedish museum of photography, or Fotografiska, is one of the largest contemporary museums of photography in the world. Explore the four large exhibitions and almost 20 smaller ones per year.
