Lions Of The Maasai Mara: Marsh Pride Legacy | Kenyan Safari
The young breakaway group of lions from the famous Marsh pride, offspring of Kito and Dada, make an appearance in the main reserve. They spend most of their time in the Mara North Conservancy. These youngsters would have been sired bythe lions known as Karibu and Rafiki and have done well to avoid the six Bila-shaka males that took over the marsh area when they were still young.

The purpose of the Rob The Ranger Wildlife Videos YouTube channel is to show what it is like to experience seeing wild animals on an African safari. Nature Documentaries are often highly edited to tell a story, wildlife safaris are not, and the idea here is to show the wildlife sightings the way they were seen. Safari tours in Africa are generally suitable for all ages and this channel can be considered an educational channel about incredible nature, some scenes in the nature videos may be more graphic than people are used to but this is the reality of nature and is what you would see if you were present on such a safari in person. Safaris in Kenya, South Africa, or any other African country are an unrivalled experience for anyone with a passion for nature, wildlife photography, and travel. Hopefully the animal videos on this channel can provide a glimpse into what the nature experience is like and encourage more people to take a wildlife safari one day.

Tangulia Mara Camp, Masai Mara
Tangulia Mara Camp is a traditional tented safari camp situated on private land on the western boundary of the Mara Reserve, allowing easy access to game drive around the Musiara Marsh, the short grass plains, and Rhino Ridge, in the reserve or across the Mara River bridge into the Mara Triangle west of the river. Both areas have rich biodiversity and offer prime wildlife and big cat viewing; and, during the migration, ready access to some of the main river-crossing places.
Five Cheetahs Of Maasai Mara | Tano Bora, Fast Five, Five Musketeers
A nice long sighting of the very famous five male cheetah coalition known as Tano Bora, Fast Five, or the Five Musketeers. Thought to be two sets of brothers (3 & 2) that joined up at a young age.
This male cheetah coalition has become well known due to the unusually large coalition size and the many pictures and films of them seen across the media. This sighting of the five cheetah was on a stormy afternoon as they took one of their infrequent trips north of the Talek river and headed to the conservancies.

Masai Mara, Where The Herds Roam
-- Masai Mara, Where The Herds Roam --
The Masai Mara Reserve is known around the world for its abundance of cats, portrayed by numerous wildlife documentaries that have been filmed here. The profusion of cats and the annual Great Migration that enters the reserve from July to October makes for concentrated wildlife interaction. Places like the Musiara Swamp, Rhino Ridge and Topi Plains are some of its famous locations. The best places for the migration are the banks of the Mara or Talek rivers or the confluence of the two. Combine your visit to the reserve with a stop at the neighbouring private conservancies, where numbers are more controlled and walk, night drives and off-road driving are allowed. The Masai Mara can be a wonderful experience but a disappointment if not well planned. There are many lodges that bring hordes of visitors into the reserve during peak season, from July to the end of September, so get an expert to book somewhere that suits your taste.

Maasai Mara
The Maasai Mara National Reserve (also known as Masai Mara and by the locals as The Mara) is a large game reserve in Narok County, Kenya, contiguous with the Serengeti National Park in Mara Region, Tanzania. It is named in honor of the Maasai people (the ancestral inhabitants of the area) and their description of the area when looked at from afar: Mara, which is Maa (Maasai language) for spotted, an apt description for the circles of trees, scrub, savanna, and cloud shadows that mark the area.
It is globally famous for its exceptional population of lions, leopards and cheetahs, and the annual migration of zebra, Thomson's gazelle, and wildebeest to and from the Serengeti every year from July to October, known as the Great Migration.

Meet the Notch's grandsons, Hercules, Samson and David....
Notch was an iconic black maned Male Lion who appeared in the Musiara Marsh of the Maasai Mara in the year 2003 along with his coalition partner. A year later they had finally taken over the famous Marsh Pride of Lions. But Notch found himself being a single Pride Male mid of 2005, after his coalition partner was killed by intruding males. Several cubs had been born into the Marsh Pride sired by Notch and his partner in 2005. Eight survived 5 males and 3 females. And against all odds Notch hold on to his territory for another almost 2 years and sired more cubs. But in March/April 2007 three new males muscled in and finally chased him off.
Usually that marks the end of a Male Lion in Africa, as single nomads they mostly do not survive long. But Notch did something very unusual, he did not leave his territory alone but took his five sons with him! These 5 young males have been given names: Notch II and Long - the oldest, Ron and Ceasar - probably brothers and Grimace - the youngest.
Over the years and due to countless battles with other Male Lions the Notch Coalition lost members one by one. Long was the first who vanished in 2010 in the Mara Triangle. Notch himself never returned from a mission to find his missing son Grimace mid 2013 in enemy territory. A year and half later Grimace got lost during one of his excursions to find new females to take over. The remaining 3 Notches finally settled down in the Lookout Hill area, still being a formidable coalition of 3 Big Male Lions.
The final chapter of the Notches reign started mid 2016 when Ron went missing and never showed up again probably being killed by other Male Lions. A year later Ceasar developed a limp and lost condition, the reason turned out to be an abscess in his upper right hind leg. Vets treated him but 2 months later he was found being in a very bad state again hardly being able to move. He was last seen lying motionless on the banks of the Mara River close to Lookout Hill. It was not a fight with other Lions, it was not a conflict with humans, Ceasar died naturally. With the demise of Ceasar there is only one of the Notches left, Notch II. At an age of almost 13 years and being all by himself now, his days will be numbered as younger Males already smell weakness.
The legacy of the Notches will live on as they have sired countless cubs with many of them being adults now ruling over vast areas of the Maasai Mara....
