Aki Sasamoto: An Artist Walks into a Bar | Art21 New York Close Up
What happens when an artist gives up control?
Mirroring its subject's own playful and absurdist sensibility, this portrait of sculptor and performance artist Aki Sasamoto is a fluid hybrid of fiction and documentary—at once a magical realist world of spinning objects and a psychological exploration of fundamental questions about artistic creativity.
Drinking and bar culture has long served as a source of inspiration for the artist. With a real-world Brooklyn bar as the main stage for her deadpan performance style, a bartender acts as a sympathetic ear for Sasamoto's ruminations on past projects and recent motherhood. Embellished by CGI-style effects, the artist toggles between impromptu conversations and scripted performances, blurring the line between observable fact and subjective vision.
From firing whiskey glasses at Urban Glass in Brooklyn to installing her exhibition, Past in a future tense, at Bortolami Gallery in Manhattan, Sasamoto grapples with the tension between control and chaos—between her mastery over materials and their own will. Whatever I thought I had control over, whatever I thought I was, explains Sasamoto, will change in front of me and that to me is exciting, in life and in sculpture.
Aki Sasamoto (b. 1980, Kanagawa, Japan) lives and works in New York. Learn more about the artist at:

S.Moroi: Fantasy(1923)
Later I uploaded this piece and I recommend to listen to.
The Great Kantoh earthquake in 1923 brought the drastic changes into Tokyo and Japan. The reminder of the Edo era were completely destroyed(ex. the destruction of the fish market in Nihon-bashi) and the new era started in any aspects. On the story of culture, it destroyed Asakusa and Nihon-bashi, the center of the culture before the earthquake and after that the popularization and modernization of culture became accelated.
Saburo Moroi(1903-1977) is one of the neglected Japanese composer before and middle war. He adred Beethoven, analyzed all 32 piano sonatas, and composed several works which has well-constructed German neo-classicalism style. Most of his works is the absolute music, for details three symphonies, three piano concertos, concertos for several instruments and piano sonatas.
This 'fantasy' was composed in July 1923, only two month before the earthquake. It has namely the free construction and romantic aria-like melodies. Before it Moroi wrote the imitation of German music like Beethoven and Mozart(I'll show later), but from about this year he adds some Japanese elements. It leads to 'Piano sonata Op.1' etc.
I think this piece shows that young Moroi(20 years old) was great influenced from 'Asakusa Opera(浅草オペラ)', the musical movement after WWI, consists of the cheep and B-class musical and operetta in Asaka, mainly performing the popular classic number like Offenbach's 'Ouverture d'Orphee aux enfers' and the original number(ex.
It took the great role on the populization of the Western music including the classics. And Saburo Moroi, the masetro of the Japanese Classics, must have been the enthusiast of Asakusa Opera on his teens.
It may be the great monument of the lost culture before the great earthquake and moreover it tells me that now I live in the 'before-great-eartuquake culture' in 2013.
Note
The repeat from 4:34 to 5:31 I omitted because it is tedious.

Music Update: Agile 7
I'm thinking about abandoning this riff. I've been recreating it in standard tuning and I think it sounds better. But I figured I should still share the original version with the world because it's beautiful in its own way.
I'm playing an Agile 725 with a Dimarzio Ionizer in the Neck and Illuminator in the Bridge into my Avid Eleven Rack.

Me,Myself and I in the Age of Download | Th.Kutschker.mp4
Me, Myself and I in the Age of Download is an entertaining exercise researching on the phenomena of digital copying and downloads from the internet. It is a scientific-like experiment, a poetical observation of (post-) modern times. The title refers in a humorous way to these hermetical procedures, as well as to the presence of the film maker in the frame.
It makes you think of Duchamp's painting Nude, Descending a Staircase; and the changes in the cinematic techniques since the beginning of the 20th century and ends in a look-alike retro styled computer games.
Original and digital copy are the same, as long as it is asured that it is an identical copy. If the quality, the stream, the transportation rate are not ideal, the copying result will not be perfect-mostly unremarked. By repeating this procedure of up- and downloading the file 42 times, errors and artefacts accumulate to a visible level. 42 is an eye twinkling quotation of Douglas Adams' answer to all questions in his book Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy.
Fish Don't Know It's Raining of the New York based japanese composer and artist Aki Onda enriches the playful atmosphere in a perfect way.

I did some fixes with Miku's settings to make her more clear and less breathy. I also changed the NI Massive synth for the drop, I think I like it better than before :)
I hope you guys like what I did for the rest of the song! Though I'm still unsure if these are the right lyrics haha
Oh speaking of right lyrics, the Kanji in the video is wrong lol
When I posted this on NND, people said I used Chinese symbols in the song... I didn't even know! xD Oh well! I'll be more careful next time! Sorry guys!
