Muskrat Lake - Under the Ice
Muskrat Lake underwater video ice fishing on a shoal and ridge. First part of video is at a 50 foot edge of a steep rocky shoal that drops to 90 feet quickly. The second part of the video is taken at a sand shoal and ridge in 35 feet of water.
Muskrat Lake, underwater footage - Perch, crayfish, minnows, smelt
This footage was taken at Muskrat Lake in Cobden, Ontario on April 13th 2019.
See below for a list of things that happen throughout this long video. Comment below if you see something I missed!
Water depth is about 4 meters (12 ft) where we were filming. Ice was sketchy near the shore (waist deep).
Seen in this footage is mostly small perch, minnows being hunted by perch, crayfish, and what I believe is a small school of smelt.
My beginner friend was the one jigging and hitting the camera with the sinker, forgive his jigging technique...
Footage was taken on a xiaomi action camera in an underwater case attached to my ice rod rigged with braid.
All throughout video - Tiny perch around 6 long
3:40 - We take out the camera to put it into another hole, but decide to put it into the same one
8:58 - A small minnow darting around, attracts the attention of some perch who start chasing it
9:05 - All of the perch turn away together and start to swim away. Perhaps some big fish off camera scaring them away...
19:19 - In the lower left corner some minnow (possibly a sand darter) darts into frame
20:56 - School of possibly smelt in the upper half of the frame show up. They show up here and there for the rest of the video. Either smelt or big ass minnows. Odd that smelt show up so shallow.
21:53 - You can see a crayfish hard at work close to the middle of the frame
24:46 - We pack up to go home
25:36 - You can see how sketchy the shore ice was
Mussie- The Lake Monster of Muskrat Lake!
Chad Lewis is on the shores of Muskrat Lake in Ontario, Canada looking for a giant 15-20 foot lake monster shaped like some sort of deformed muskrat or lake sturgeon.

Nutrient Sampling in the Muskrat Lake Watershed
Near Cobden, Ontario Algonquin College is sampling the Muskrat Lake Watershed to determine the sources and effects of nutrients such as phosphorous. The Researchers, including Sarah Hall and Julie Sylvestre explain that there are multiple sources of nutrients loading into the watershed and that their research will improve water quality by determining how to mitigate nutrient loading at different parts of the Muskrat Lake Watershed.

Al Capone's Secret Canadian Hideaway - Drone Footage
It is rumoured, up Quadeville way, that in the early 1940s, Al Capone chose the Madawaska Highlands as his secret Canadian hideaway. The legend persists that his old cabin still stands near the little hamlet of Quadeville, an old mining and lumber town about 150 kilometres southwest of Ottawa. The exact location seems to have been lost in the mists of time, unless, of course, one enquires politely at Kauffeldt’s Grocery, the local gas station and general store. All kinds of people hang out at Kauffeldt’s drinking coffee, reading the paper, nursing babies and talking to the occasional tourist that happens by with questions about Al Capone’s place.
The cabin in question was built in 1942 by a local man who was hired by a mysterious figure from south of the border. Capone is supposed to have been here sometime between 1943 and 1947, years after his release from jail and well into the nasty bout of late-stage syphilis which finally killed him.
