Mountain Bike Nepal ... Mustang .....MUKTINATH - LUBRA PASS 2019
Ride of a life time...
Nepal Mountain Bike - This is Mustang
Nepal’s Mustang is often compared to the fabled Himalayan valley of Shangri-La. Cut off from the rest of the world on the edge of the Tibetan Plateau, Mustang is a high altitude desert of rich red and ocher land, deep gorges, and the world’s highest peaks set against an infinite blue sky.
Mustang is home to an endless network of ancient trails that were once used by caravans carrying salt from the Tibetan plateau to the great plains of India. In the heart of the Mustang lies the world’s deepest valley, carved by the wild waters of the Kali Gandaki river between the two giant mountains Annapurna and Dhaulagiri.
Follow Rob J Heran as he explores the solitary trails of Mustang through magical villages and mystical monasteries.

Muktinath temple Mustang Nepal!
Muktinath Temple Mustang Nepal!
Behind the Muktinath temple there are 108 waterspouts (Dhara) called Muktidhara.
Since 'Mukti' means liberation and 'Dhara' means water-spouts, pilgrims belive that it brings them salvation or Moksa by taking bath under the chilled water of the 108 water-spouts.
The 108 faucets, in the shape of 'cows' heads, pour fourth-sacred water closely arranged in a semi-circle with a gap of hardly a foot between the faucets, at a height of about seven feet. The water from Gandaki River continuously flowing through the mouth of the cows head. Pilgrims who visit the temple take a holy bath under each of these spouts. But as the water is ice cold it requires courage to take a holy bath here. Taking bath is therefore usually done at high speed, due to the frigid temperatures ????
