Sunlight Cottage, Truro, Cornwall
Sunlight Cottage is situated on a beautifully developed site with superbly kept gardens, which enjoys a blissfully peaceful & secluded setting just north of Truro. The location is very central and therefore ideal for those wanting to explore the county widely during their stay. This delightful & extremely well presented development is just less than 10 miles to the spectacular beaches at Perranporth, yet the cathedral city of Truro is less than a 10 minute drive away with its superb selection of shops and restaurants.

Railfest 2012 9/6/12 Part 2
The second part of my visit to Railfest 2012 on 9 June 2012.
In the rarely used area of the museum that formed the yellow zone of Railfest, was the most famous of all locomotives...
It had been put back together whilst its overhaul was being completed at the East Lancs Railway's workshop at Bury and delivered to York by rail devoid of link motion.
Facing it was another famous locomotive, and another A4, No.4468 Mallard.
Giving rides up and down this part of the yard was the Middleton Railway's 4-wheeled Hunslet diesel Courage (or Sweet Pea as it is more well known) and Peckett
0-4-0ST Teddy which had been fitted with an A4 chime whistle. We see the two locomotives departing the platform, running parallel with Class 37 D6700 and 3717 City of Truro.
Also in this part of the yard was Class 55 Deltic 55002 The King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, GNR Class N2 0-6-2T No.1744*, LMS Jubilee No.45596 Bahamas and Devon & Cornwall Railways Class 31 31601.
(* turn your speakers/headphones down at 4:33, unless you want a loud blast from a Gresley A4 flowing through your ears!)
ScotRail Class 380 Desiro 380 007 was also in the yard (while Tornado and Sir Nigel Gresley blow their whistles in the background.
Teddy then races back into the yard with Sweet Pea at the rear.
Sadly, a heavy downpour thwarted any chance of me visiting the rest of Railfest (including the Red Zone) without spoiling my camera, so a while later I was still in the yellow zone waiting for the rain to clear.
Also in the yard were LNWR Coal Tank 0-6-2T No.58926 and Improved Precedent No.790 Hardwicke.
Before I was cleared away from the red zone, just before closing time, we see Basset-Lowke 4-4-2 Synolda and Kirklees Light Railway 0-4-4-0T Hawk on the 15-inch gauge demonstration line and GWR 4575 Class 2-6-2T Small Prarie No.5521.
Back near the Station Hall were LB&SCR Terrier No.55 Stepney, Andrew Barclay No.615, First Great Western Class 57 No.57604 Pendennis Castle and recently restored Southern Railway Schools Class 4-4-0 No.925 Cheltenham.
This locomotive is expected to go to the Mid-Hants Railway soon after this event.
I had an enjoyable day with a lot of locomotives on offer, though I would have liked more time to see everything that was on offer. One afternoon just isn't enough!

Railfest 2012 - 02/06/12
A little late but nevertheless here is my footage from the first day of the week long Railfest 2012 held at the National Railway Museum in York. With over 60 exhibits it was due to be one of the biggest rail events of 2012. I went on the 2nd, the opening day, would've preferred to go during the week but this was the only day both myself and my dad could go together. As would've been expected on the 1st day it was jam packed with people which meant there wasn't much room to use my tripod so I ended up not using it. We got there over an hour later than we'd hoped as the first train to London Paddington was cancelled due to signalling problems west of Swindon and whilst on the East Coast Mainline the driver overshot the platform at Newark.
