Myokoji Temple in Ichinomiya City
Myokoji is a large zen temple in Ichinomiya City. Nearby station is Myokoji Station of Meitestu Line about 20 minutes ride from Meitetsu Nagoya Station.
This temple was founded in 13th century by a young monk who belonged to a local noble family, commemorating and appreciating his mother.
Its large compound is surounded by forests with scattered old buildings. Its scale and atomosphare are comparative to the large temples in Kyoto, Nara or Kamakura. However, unlike those counterparts in famous tourist destinations, here in Myokoji, I have never seen a tourist.
In this temple, young zen monks are being trained even now.

Tenryu-Hamanako Railroad offers service between Shinjohara and Kakegawa, both of which belong to Shizuoka Prefecture. This is Tōtōmi Ichinomiya Station and the train is bound for Kakegawa. Train Number 136. It was 15:59.
