Welcome to historic Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Georgia's Rome
Local historian Anne Culpepper gives a brief overview of the historic cemetery in northwest Georgia.
Rome's Historic Myrtle Hill Cemetery has become the permanent home of more than 20,000 Romans since 1857. Myrtle Hill Cemetery is located on one of Rome's seven hills and sits above the confluence of the Etowah, Oostanaula and Coosa Rivers. Situated on 6 terraces out of reach of flooding, the cemetery provides dramatic and beautiful views of Rome while also telling the stories of the pioneers and heroes of this community.

Myrtle Hill Cemetery - Investigation
Is this a speck of dust? Or is it an intelligent orb? At the time, there were no flash lights besides the one on the doll. Ryan was talking to the spirits, and I was using a red laser to identify temperature fluctuations. Whatever it is, starts out at the breast of the doll and travels to the left of the screen when Ryan asks for someone 'to touch

Erie St Cemetery - Cleveland, OH, USA
The oldest existing cemetery in Cleveland, Erie St was founded in 1826 when land donated by Leonard Case (after whom Case Western Reserve is named) was quit-claimed to the city of Cleaveland [sic]. The city's first burial ground, Ontario St Cemetery, had become too small and was too centrally located to the growing city's population center. That cemetery was located near Ontario and Prospect St's, and there is no remaining evidence of its existence. Most of the graves from Ontario Cemetery were moved to Erie St.
Erie St is a unique and compelling cemetery, a bit of green and history in the midst of downtown Cleveland and in the shadow (across the street) of Jacob's Field, where the Cleveland Indians play.
Among the gravesites moved from Ontario St, the oldest readable stone we could find dated to 1808, although the earliest stone in the cemetery is reportedly to be from 1803. Many graves there date to the 1820's and 1830's. There are reported as many as 17,000 burials here, most unmarked, although we find that number suspiciously high for the size of the graveyard.
Still, it is absolutely an essential piece of Cleveland's history and just a terrific graveyard. Many stories of early settlers and a couple of Indian burials here.
Just one of many good online resources about this compelling cemetery:
