Shwedagon Pagoda MYANMAR - Epic BURMESE Beauty
Located in downtown Yangon, the Shwedagon Pagoda is one of the most famous attractions in all of Myanmar, attracting crowds of locals and tourists alike. Of course we had to pay a visit to this stunning site while in Yangon! At nearly 100 meters tall, the glimmering gold Buddhist pagoda, decorated with tens of thousands of diamonds and other gems, is the most sacred place of religion in all of Myanmar.

Yangon in Myanmar (Burma): Shwedagon Pagoda, Kandawgyi Lake & park, street markets and Myanmar food
One day in Yangon Myanmar is just enough to visit the amazing Shwedagon Pagoda and its many surrounding temples which is a must see for anyone visiting Yangon. At night the Shwedagon Pagoda is lit up.
Before visiting the Shwedagon Pagoda (not to be confused with Shwegadon which is the name of a place close to Mandalay further south in Burma) I spent the morning wandering around a typical Myanmar street market watching the poeple of Myanmar go about their daily lives and looking at all the amazing fresh fruit, veg and fish for sale. It's thirsty work so I head to the Kandawgyi Lake & Park which is a beautiful lush green area in the middle of Yangon with lots of cafes and restuarants, in the area of the Karaweik which is a replica of a clasically styled Royal Barge.
Across the lake you can see the Shwedagon Pagoda, and so after an amazing strawberry smoothie I make my way to the Pagoda for the highlight of my first day in Yangon Myanmar.
Lunch today was at the Love Boat, which I chose at random in one of the malls, and it was absolutely delicious!

Things to do in Yangon - Places to visit in Yangon, Myanmar
Yangon capital of Myanmar (Burma) is one of the most unique cities in Asia. Check out this video to see all of the best things to do and places to see in Yangon.
Myanmar's Most Famous Tourist Attraction, The Shwe Dagon Pagoda
I don't think there is any other country in the world more superstitious than Burma. The military generals have moved the capital from Rangoon ( also known as Yangon) to Naypidaw based on the instructions of astrologers and psychics. The Shwedagon pagoda, based in Myanmar's former capital, Yangon, is a site of multiple pagodas centered by a glistening 2,500-year-old dome-shaped monument. You will see many people praying there including military generals. When Cyclone Nargis hit the country in 2008 leaving nearly 200,000 dead, General Than Shwe blocked international aid from coming into the country - adding more to the suffering of his people. It was said that General Than Shwe's wife circled the Shwedagon pagoda with a pig under the instruction of his psychic. The psychic said that would give him good karma.
The Shwedagon Pagoda is many things for the people of Burma. This one man we met spent his days at the Pagoda- stating that it gives him some sort of peace. Rudyard Kipling on his visit to Burma in 1889 wrote of the Pagoda, a golden mystery upheaved itself on the horizon, a beautiful winking wonder that blazed in the sun.

Burma: Yangon
A visit to Yangon (Rangoon), the capital city of Birma. Sule Pagoda is the landmark of the heart of Yangon. It is said to be 2000 years old. The stupa is 46 m high and it is in a strange octagonal shape. Chauk Htat Gyi Buddha houses the fourth largest colossal reclining Buddha. The image itself is 67m long. Kyauk Taw Gyi Buddha is the largest marble Buddha in the world.

► ABOUT CAMERADO
Camerado Movies and Media produces compelling and award winning movies, music and media of all kinds including: factual, scripted, documentaries, branded and web videos, 360 Videos, VR / Virtual Tours, and other interactive and digital media.
Our production effort has been in existence since 1996, when filmmaker, writer-director and educator Jason Rosette first began shooting the internationally acclaimed New York City urban documentary, 'BookWars' ('Terrific' - LA Times * 'Superb' - New York Film Critics Circle) At that time, Youtube wasn't even around! But you can see the Youtube version of 'BookWars' here at
A few years after the release of 'Bookwars', Camerado produced the '21st Century Cloning Road Movie', LOST in NEW MEXICO, one of the 1st indie films to be made in New Mexico, USA, after the introduction of state production incentives.
Again, Youtube wasn't around yet - or we woulda' show some clips and trailers before our release ;) The completed feature can be seen on Youtube at:
After producing that feature, Camerado founder, filmmaker Jason Rosette (jasonrosette.com), relocated to SE Asia to live with lower overhead while editing and completing 'Lost in New Mexico'
From 2005 to 2016, Camerado operated primarily in the ASEAN (SE Asia) region, while producing projects for NGOs, private sector businesses, and producing an ongoing range of independent films.
The internet was pretty shaky in Cambodia from 2005 to 2010 or so, and it was a challenge indeed to upload large movie files on a regular basis.
Camerado’s first movie on Youtube, 'The Commute', is a motorcycle POV driving to work through (then) busy Phnom Penh traffic. That DIY action cam film, preceding GoPro's appearance by half a decade, was uploaded in 2006 and can be seen here:

Myanmar - Chapter I: Yangon
Check the whole playlist at:
Last year, I celebrated New Year’s Eve in city of Yangon. Which is at the same time strange and fascinating. There is no New Year’s Eve in Myanmar, so no fireworks, crackers or cheese fondue. However, Burmese people start to adapt to Western habitats slowly, too – especially the younger ones. So a celebration is somewhat going on within the streets nevertheless.
I’ve captured a little bit of it in this video.
What’s more to see in Yangon? Besides the interesting city architecture with an amazing gap between poor and rich and some of the nicest people around, there is also the Circular Railway – the commuter railway for the city built by the British in the 50ies and unchanged since then. And of course the famous Shwedagon Pagoda – one of the largest stupas in the world, covered in tons and tons of gold.

360 with Mr. J... here in Yangon (Rangoon) Myanmar (Burma), as the crowd lets out of the classic but still massively functioning Shae Saung Cinema on Sule Pagoda Road. The Myanmar film industry seems to be doing well, and many old-time cinema houses are still running - here at the Shae Saung, we see a regional SE Asian movie playing alongside a Hollywood tentpole.
Burma Bistro - Heritage Drinking & Dining in the Heart of Yangon
I didn't have anything to eat or drink at the Burma Bistro. So this isn't a video review. And that's a good thing, because I'm not a qualified food/restaurant reviewer in any way. I just happened to spot the Burma Bistro on a number of my walks around Yangon, and on this particular day, I decided to pop in and take a look around.
I had my GoPro with me, so I took some video of my tour of the Burma Bistro. Call this a quick overview of the decor, design, and menu of the restaurant. I came away with positive feelings about the place. I liked it. And the prices were not nearly as high as I was expecting.
Enjoy. ????
