Dog walks in Victoria or some of the most time honored things to do when living in this amazing city. Here in an area of Oakbay and Cadboro Bay you can find UVic off leash dog park, where you will find dog walkers and nature lovers alike as the dog park is right beside mystic vale, a protected nature area with a natural stream which winds it way down through a mature forest of Douglas Fir, Arbutus trees, large leaf Maple trees to name but a few. If you’re looking for dog walks in Victoria BC look no further than this very special place. Victoria BC also has many other fantastic dog walking areas of which I will try and block about in the coming weeks and months with my new puppy.
Thanks for watching.

Cadboro Bay is a bay located on southern Vancouver Island in the Canadian province of British Columbia, located in the Municipality of Saanich and the Municipality of Oak Bay. Cadboro Bay takes its name from the first European vessel to enter the bay, the Hudson’s Bay Company schooner Cadboro.
Before European settlers arrived, the bay was the site of a settlement called Sungayka, occupied by the Songhees people. Today, the bay gives its name to the neighbourhood situated between the bay itself and the University of Victoria, bounded by the Uplands district to the south, Ten Mile Point to the east and the Queenswood neighbourhood to the north. At the heart of this neighbourhood is its English style shopping street, Cadboro Bay Village.

2451 Camelot was the “show home” for the street. Being the first house built on this street in Cadboro Bay, these Victoria Real Estate original owners had their choice of locations. This Cadboro Bay Real Estate clearly was the best spot. Crested atop the hill in Cadboro bay and bathed in sun, this home is a stone's throw to Frank Hobbs elementary school. Families in Cadboro Bay will enjoy raising their children from pre-school to University within blocks from home in this Victoria Real Estate. Even today there are still a few families living in Cadboro Bay Real Estate on Camelot Road that have been there since the 1950’s. Everyone looks out for each other on this family oriented, dead-end Victoria Real Estate street. Enjoy multiple beaches within a 10 minute stroll of this Real Estate in Cadboro Bay. [Wikipedia] Mystic Vale
Mystic Vale is a forested ravine that was acquired by the University of Victoria in 1993 and is located outside the ring road to the southeast of campus. Its tree canopy is dominated by large specimens of Douglas-fir and grand fir. A few western red cedar also occur. Scattered among these conifers are deciduous trees such as bigleaf maple, black cottonwood, and willow. Some Garry oak is present at the forest edge. Canada's only native broadleaf evergreen tree, the arbutus, is also present.
Mystic Vale proves to be one of the most popular green spaces on campus as thousands of students and community members use the area each year for recreation. The University is committed to the preservation of Mystic Vale and the surrounding Haro Woods to ensure the long-term health of the area as habitat for local flora and fauna. Several ecoaction groups and sustainability projects have been implemented to preserve the conditions of the ravine, including creating detention ponds to minimize stream bank erosion and removing invasive species like ivy, daphne and holly.
From Mystic Vale, 4.7 hectares (11.6 acres) of natural coniferous woodland, can be found in the southeast area of University of Victoria’s campus. Much of Mystic Vale comprises a steep-sided gully with slopes of 20–30° and belongs to the Hobbs Creek Watershed. The university campus is part of the Straits Coast Salish peoples’ traditional homeland. For thousands of years, Mystic Vale was utilized for harvesting plants, hunting and fishing.

Organic Cadboro Bay living. Only steps to the ocean and the shops of Cadboro Bay sits this sweet home on Mystic Pond. 4 Bed & 2 Bath with a custom kitchen & open plan living is just the beginning of this story. Oak flooring, along with a custom wood burning fireplace creates the warmth that this home exudes. Taking advantage of the exceptional sun, the organic gardens were planted to provide food for the homeowners and to teach the children sustainability. Espalier fruit trees are only just coming into their own and with the additional new greenhouse, the growing is just getting started. The backyard is on Mystic pond and from the sun drenched decks one can watch the wildlife. Less than a minute walk down the quiet street is the beach access to Cadboro Bay in Victoria BC where one can swim, sail, kayak and paddleboard. A mooring buoy was installed for the use of this homeowner and can certainly be used by you! Walk to the shops & all levels of school from this superb location to live your life.
At the foot of Sinclair Road is some of the best real estate in Victoria BC, including Cadboro Bay Beach Public Park with a concrete octopus, whale, tugboat and a replica of the sea monster, Cadborosaurus. The body of water named Cadboro Bay is the home of the Cadborosaurus, nicknamed Caddy, a mythical sea monster that has supposedly been spotted in the calm waters of the bay. Cadboro Bay gets its name from the first Hudson's Bay Company sailing vessel brought to the BC Coast, the Cadboro, which was the first vessel to anchor in the bay.

We started our week by showing you some of the landmarks of our city Victoria as we walked back to our car from volunteering at Salvation Army. We walked through Fan Tan Alley and I showed you some of the fun shops. I also showed you Canada’s oldest China Town.
On Sunday evening Tim and I went for a walk on Ogden Point and David Foster Walkway and a bike ride to beat the heat.
Monday we spent the whole day getting the 31 Day Beginner Yoga Challenge ready for you which starts today! :) We filmed 342 of Yoga with Melissa about New Beginnings on Tuesday morning. We filmed in front of the Trial Islands and we got to see some whales, bull kelp, salt and shells.
Tuesday evening we went for a hike with our friend Mike to Mystic Vale. This was a magical place to go hiking!
Wednesday was spent the morning cleaning and doing errands in preparation for the arrival of Tim’s parents. Tim did some drone flying to get an aerial view of the lighthouse.
On Friday we started our time as tour guides and hosts at Tim’s parents for the next ten days. We came to Red Fish, Blue Fish. On Saturday we went to Woody’s Lagoon for a walk on the beach. I did some balance practice on the logs. You can practice your balance too by walking on uneven surfaces.
On Saturday evening we practiced some natural movement in the park to overcome all the sitting we are doing. We worked on flexibility and functional strength.
On Sunday, we went out on our friend Mike’s boat and toured the inner harbour of Victoria B.C.
Thanks for watching your presence here is appreciated!
Namaste, Melissa

Copper Cowgirl on the causeway in Victoria BC.wmv
Since 2007, the Copper Cowgirl, has become a very popular attraction for visitors to the inner harbour causeway. Standing silent and motionless atop her copper pedestal, she elicits shrieks of surprise and laughter from her audience when she unexpectedly comes to life and commences into a wild-west ballet of robotic movements and friendly gestures, before drawing her copper pistol from her holster for an imaginary shoot-out, after which she slowly winds down to her original statue-like position.
The Copper Cowgirl has also entertained passersby in Melbourne AU, Auckland NZ, London UK, as well as in Vancouver, Canada during the 2010 Olympics.
