Day Out With Thomas @ Thirlmere - NSW Rail Museum, 18th/19th May 2019
From Saturday 18th to Sunday 19th May 2019, the NSW Rail Museum once again hosted their 'Day out with Thomas' event at Thirlmere, at the NSW Rail Museum. Steam Locomotive 2705, dressed up as Donald, assisted by Diesel Locomotive 4490, hauled Shuttle Trips from Thirlmere (Sodor) Station to Buxton.
Steam Locomotive 3642, dressed up as Henry, was on display at the NSW Rail Museum platform. CPH Railmotor No.27, dressed up as Toby, was operating Short Trips from Thirlmere Station to the Roundhouse. Former NSWGR Steam Loco 1803, who is now officially Thomas the Tank Engine, was on display out the front of the Museum. There were also Miniature Train Rides, and other various activities.

Day Out With Thomas @ Thirlmere - NSW Rail Museum, 28th to 29th July 2018
From Saturday 28th July to Sunday 29th July 2018, the NSW Rail Museum at Thirlmere hosted one of their 'Day Out With Thomas' Events. This event sees a number of the NSW Rail Museum's fleet dress up as different characters from the official show, and run a number of trips around the museum, and along the branch line.
During the event, Steam Locomotive 2705, dressed up as Donald, and Diesel Locomotive 4807, were hauling Shuttles from Thirlmere (Sodor Station) to Buxton. Steam Locomotive 3642, dressed up as Henry, was on display at the Museum Platform. CPH Railmotor No.27, dressed up as Toby, was hauling Trips from Thirlmere Station to the Roundhouse.
Former NSWGR Steam Loco 1803, who is now dressed as Thomas the Tank Engine, was on display out the front of the museum. There were also Miniature Train Rides with Thomas and James, and many other activities.
We visited the event on Sunday 29th July. Here's the footage we took.

Just some steam running at Thirlmere for this episode.
It was quite a cool and windy day this particular day, so intrepid pills were required for yours truly to film this one.

We visit the town of Thirlmere NSW to enjoy the Festival of Steam, the NSW Rail Museum and Street Parades including the Monaro Club of NSW.
Since 1989, the annual Thirlmere Festival of Steam has grown to become Australia’s premier steam event.
It’s a community celebration of steam and nostalgia where locomotives of all kinds travel from afar, awakening the quaint village of Thirlmere with the enchanting echo of a steam whistle. Throughout the village, there’s all the fun of a country fair to be had with great markets, music, rides and relics.
The Thirlmere Festival of Steam is a unique and enjoyable event for the whole family!

Australian Trains: NSW Rail Museum Special, 03Nov17
Historic 44 class Diesel Electric locomotives lead a NSW Rail Museum special at North Strathfield.
1908 hrs: TM76 Coal service ex Tahmoor heads north towards the Port of Newcastle with #9307, 9311 & 9315 as NSW Rail Transport Museum special train 6L40 heads south with historic ALCO’s 4403 & 4490 and 6 Southern Aurora cars. The cars were being transferred from storage at Broadmeadow to Thirlmere. The consist was a power van, guards van, 3 sleepers & another power van.

NSW Rail Museum Shuttles - 3016 & 2705 - 11 October 2019
During the September/October school holidays the NSW Rail Museum operated a heritage train shuttle along the Thirlmere loop line every day. This video features activity from Friday 11th October with shuttles consisting of steam locos 3016 and 2705 along with 2 carriages.
After some shunting the locos top and tailed the train to Buxton and return with the first shuttle and then ran to the Picton landmark and return with the second shuttle. 2705 was then detached from the train leaving 3016 to work the remaining 2 shuttles to Buxton.
Australian Steam: 3801 Returns to Thirlmere
On the 24th of January, 2020, iconic steam locomotive 3801 returned from Chullora to Thirlmere after a decade-long overhaul.

NSW Rail Museum - Models and Miniatures, 13th to 15th July 2018
From Friday 13th to Sunday 15th July 2018, the NSW Rail Museum once again hosted their annual 'Models and Miniatures Event', which featured a number of Model Railway Layouts and Miniature Train Rides around the museum.
The Model Railway Layouts include:
-Cockle Creek - NSW N Scale Group
-Bethungra Spiral - Epping Model Railway Club
-The Beach - Private Layout
-Koolabar - Private Layout
-Central Station - Private Layout
-Rails in the Garden
The Meccano Modellers Association had a display area of various models of NSW Locomotive and Machinery.
Steam Locomotive 2705 was hauling Shuttles from Thirlmere to Buxton for the first two days, but on the Sunday, due to a crew shortage, 4807 was assigned on Shuttles for that day. We visited the event on the Sunday 15th July. We were able to do a trip behind 4807 to Buxton, and we got footage of the Model Layouts and Miniature Train Rides.
NOTE - At 6:53, it's actually the Cockle Creek Layout, not 'The Beach' Layout, so a little mistake I made there.
