Daylight XPT Melbourne to Sydney
(Best watched in 1080p HD) Based on the British HST hauling Budd passenger trailers, the Australian built XPTs entered service on NSW country services in 1982. In 1993, they replaced locomotive hauled services between Sydney and Melbourne. In September 2018, we had the opportunity to ride the Northbound Daylight, the 0830 Melbourne to Sydney XPT. The train takes eleven and a half hours to cover the 960km (600 miles) between the two state capitals. This epic journey takes in sprawling city suburbs and sleepy country towns. Crossing the Great Dividing Range twice, we see the rugged moors of the Southern Highlands and acres of agricultural land, where brightly coloured canola fields (rapeseed oil) abound. The train makes 17 intermediate stops, including the original break-of-gauge station at Aldbury where, until 1962, we would have had to change train from the Victorian broad gauge to a standard gauge NSW service. The sleepy station at Yass Junction holds an unexpected secret. Each day, a bus connects with the Daylight XPT to carry passengers onward to Canberra, the Capital City of Australia. It's quicker to take the 1 hour bus journey than to carry on to Goulburn and catch a Southbound train along the Canberra branch.

A train ride from Sydney to Brisbane on NSW TrainLink XPT
XPT is a long distance interstate train which is operated by NSW TrainLink of New South Wales from Sydney and one of these routes are connecting Sydney and Brisbane in Queensland. I used the cheapest class fare on this train, the Economy Class costs $45 (non-refundable) and the 14 hour journey takes too long for me on a train like this but Australians think that these train journeys are considered medium.

Trams on the new Canberra Light Rail - Canberra Metro
In this video we check out Canberra's new light rail line. Named Canberra Metro, the new light rail line opened on the 20th April 2019, linking Civic (Canberra city) to Gungahlin in the northern suburbs. The light rail line is the largest infrastructure project ever undertaken in Canberra; featuring 12km of line with 13 stops, served by a fleet of 14 CAF Urbos 3 trams.
In the video we showcase the line, seeing clips of trams at various locations along the line; starting at the city terminus at Alinga Street before making our way north towards the northern terminus at Gungahlin Place. We also take a look of some of the features and facilities of the light rail line, including a tour of the light rail stops and seeing the tram priority in action.
The architect who helped design Canberra Walter Burley Griffin once envisioned a tram network for Canberra during the cities formation but it was never constructed. It wasn't until the 1990's when considerations for a Canberra light rail were being taken more seriously, but even after studies were undertaken this amounted to nothing.
However this all changed in 2012 after the Australian Capital Territory Election where the Labor Party formed a coalition with the Greens, with one of the conditions being that a light rail line be constructed. Work began on the new light rail line shortly after and by February 2016 contracts were signed to begin construction of the new light rail line. After opening work is currently underway to eventually construct stage 2 of the line, which will link Civic to the district of Woden.

Melbourne to Canberra by 7 JUNE 2018
It is not my first trip in Australia, but It is the first time we crossed the territory by train. We were so excited about it and we had to wake up early in the morning catching buses to Melbourne Southern Cross Station. The railway system in Australia is so good quality as it is, and carriages are also very nice. Unfortunately, there were no chargers for smart phone were provided in the carriages. So we did hopefully get some charger for our devices after Cootamundra junction.
Coaches already waited for us at Cootamundra station. The junction is just big enough for some coaches parking there. The coaches are very nice and clean as its name is; of course, they also provided à? toilet behind, next to the last seat.
The bus driver looks so happy and helpful while he paused and showed us the way to catch others coaches rather than his journey.
We are so happy and joyful this journey.
