NUS Baba House
The NUS Baba House is one of the last remaining intact Peranakan residential homes in Singapore that still has many original and unique architectural features of fine workmanship and quality in place. It was restored and curated by the NUS Department of Architecture, NUS Museum, The Peranakan Association of Singapore and URA from 2006 to 2008. Peter Lee, its honorary curator and Dr Nikhil Joshi, a conservation expert, reflect on what makes the Baba House so special and how the experiment with lime plaster helps to extend its longevity. This video is presented in October 2019 as part of URA’s celebration of 30 years of conservation in Singapore since 1989.

Electronic musician Benjamin Ang - producer / keyboardist from electronic pop duo Cosmic Armchair and principal tutor of NUS Electronic Music Lab - embarks on a journey to discover his musical roots, through a collection of pantun (poems) composed by his Peranakan great-grandfather Ang Kay Teong. From the stack of yellowed papers etched with lyrics composed almost a century ago emerges a cosmic link between these poet/musicians, born three generations apart.

Exciting Peranakan with Garden - The Amazing Houses of Isabel Redrup - Call Sue 62225055
This is a fabulous joo chiat house opposite the park at Everitt Road. It is a quiet one way street opposite a children's playground. Parking is easy as there are only houses on one side of the road. But the best part is the design - exposed brick walls, double height high ceilings, and a huge garden behind.
If you have kids, you can even put a paddle pool in the garden or have a safe place for them to play. No kids? Think pets! Seldom do the conservations we have provide a huge real garden at the rear.

House of Peranakan Breezes - The Amazing Houses of Isabel Redrup - Call Sue 62225055
A gust of wind blows through the house. And why? Because this 1930’s treasure was built before we had electric cooling devices. It simply relied on the elements to cascade the air through the detached dwelling. Through the drafty corridors, cleverly swirling. We call it the House of Peranakan breezes and a rare find it is. A gentle restoration to preserve the foreverness of its structure. Enhanced with 5 bedrooms, 2 living and 2 maids rooms, a rear studio and a private garden, Never overlookedby neighbours with its carpet grassed front and side gardens, its patios and balconies. A freehold eastern treasure for all time.

Peranakan Architecture (shophouses) at Sun Yat Sen Musem | Top things to do Penang Malaysia 2019
This is the first episode of top things to do in Penang, Malaysia. Penang (George Town) has become a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2008. Here, we can find the densest concentration of shophouses that show the evolution of the Peranakan Architecture from the 1790s to 1950s.
In this episode, Petite Paradise Studio presents the Sun Yat Sen Museum. It is the living example of early Straits eclectic architecture style in Penang.
I hope you will enjoy the episode and come to explore this amazing city soon.
