California to New York: A Complete Road Trip
This is a complete road trip compilation from Santa Monica, California to New York City over eight different days from June-September, 2017 - all recorded in time-lapse at 4fps (nearly 100,000 frames total). Of the 3,253 miles (5,235 kilometers) driven, about 3 miles of this drive is missing, mostly in Colorado near Poncha Springs. Nearly all of this drive was done in daytime, but there is about 10 minutes of this video done in darkness in Arizona (about 1:00:00 to 1:10:00). The weather was good for the most part, except from Pennsylvania all the way to the Bronx, before clearing up in Manhattan. This trip also includes driving through the solar eclipse of August 21 in Nebraska (at about 3:30:00), as well as driving over the old Tappan Zee Bridge in upstate NY, which permanently closed a month later with the opening of the new Mario M Cuomo Bridge adjacent to it.
The states passed through are
California (0:00:35-0:40:54)
Arizona (0:40:54-1:40:26)
New Mexico (1:40:26-1:41:09)
Colorado (1:41:09-3:07:17)
Nebraska (3:07:17-3:51:05)
Iowa (3:51:05-4:24:17)
Illinois (4:24:17-4:50:42)
Indiana (4:50:42-5:10:51)
Ohio (5:10:51-5:39:13)
West Virginia (5:39:13-5:40:48 & 5:47:09-5:51:52)
Pennsylvania (5:40:48-5:47:09 & 6:04:43-6:32:49)
Maryland (5:51:52-6:04:43)
New York (6:32:49-6:50:03)
The highest elevation of the drive was 11,539 ft (3,517 m) at 2:28:10. The highest elevation anywhere on the U.S. interstate system is 11,158 ft (3,401 m) at 2:33:41. Both of these elevations are two of the three continental divide crossings; the other, at 2:04:38 (10,856 ft / 3,309 m), is the first.
The hottest temperature of this trip was 110 F (43 C) in Needles, California (about 0:40:16), and the coldest temperature of this trip was 53 F (11 C) in Tusayan, Arizona (about 1:10:04) - only about 230 miles (370 km) from Needles.

PRESIDENT OBAMA ARRIVING AT NYC JFK AIRPORT
January 19, 2012
QUEENS,NY
President Barack Obama on Thursday made the case for American tourism and his own re-election bid, mingling his political and economic agendas as he tried to stay ahead of the Republicans chasing after his job.
I hope you know that the values you cherish, what you stand for, what you believe in, are the things I cherish and I believe in and I'm willing to fight for, Obama said at Daniel, an exclusive Manhattan restaurant, in the first of four glitzy fundraisers.
Presidential politics were not far from the surface during events on both ends of the East Coast, as Obama sought a piece of Florida's political spotlight ahead of a Jan. 31 Republican presidential primary with a high-profile appearance at Walt Disney World. Against the backdrop of Disney's Cinderella castle, Obama announced initiatives aimed at making it easier for citizens of China and Brazil to visit the United States.
America is open for business, Obama said under Florida's picture-perfect blue skies. We want to welcome you.
Later, the president told top donors in New York that he had made American foreign policy stronger during his first term, vowing that U.S. support for Israel's security is nonnegotiable. He also defended his administration's approach to Iran, saying even Tehran has acknowledged that U.S. sanctions are having an impact.
The New York itinerary included a $35,800 per ticket fundraiser at the home of film director Spike Lee and an event starting at $100 per ticket at the famed Apollo Theater featuring performances by Al Green and India.Arie. Obama, who raised more than $220 million for his campaign and the Democratic National Committee through the end of 2011, told supporters that the 2012 campaign would be difficult.
This is still going to be a tough race, regardless of who they nominate, he said, but told donors at another event that he was very confident of winning re-election.
Obama said the election would be as stark a choice as we have seen, noting that he shared similar views with 2008 GOP nominee John McCain on banning torture, climate change and closing the prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. If you've been listening to the Republican debates, they have moved. I've stayed here. They've gone in a different direction.
Obama's trip to Florida marked an attempt by the White House and his campaign to steal attention from Republicans vying for the GOP presidential nomination. In recent weeks Obama held a live video conference with Iowa voters during the Republican caucus, Vice President Joe Biden held a similar event with voters in New Hampshire on the night of the state's first-in-the-nation primary and next week Obama will travel to Nevada, which follows Florida on the primary calendar.
Obama was greeted in the Orlando area by ads from GOP front-runner Mitt Romney blaming the president for the state's struggling economy. Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, could take a major step toward securing the Republican nomination with a win in Florida's Jan. 31 primary contest.
I have a simple question for you: Where are the jobs? Romney wrote in an open letter to the president on Thursday running as an ad in the Tampa Bay Times. In a conference call with reporters, Romney said Obama was speaking from Fantasyland.

NEW YORK CITY (source Wikipedia):
The City of New York, often called New York City or simply New York, is the most populous city in the United States. With an estimated 2016 population of 8,537,673 distributed over a land area of about 302.6 square miles (784 km2), New York City is also the most densely populated major city in the United States. Located at the southern tip of the state of New York, the city is the center of the New York metropolitan area, one of the most populous urban agglomerations in the world, with an estimated 20.2 million people in its 2016 Metropolitan Statistical Area and 23.7 million residents in its Combined Statistical Area. A global power city, New York City has been described as the cultural, financial, and media capital of the world, and exerts a significant impact upon commerce, entertainment, research, technology, education, politics, and sports. The city's fast pace defines the term New York minute. Home to the headquarters of the United Nations, New York is an important center for international diplomacy.
Situated on one of the world's largest natural harbors, New York City consists of five boroughs, each of which is a separate county of the State of New York. The five boroughs - Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, The Bronx, and Staten Island - were consolidated into a single city in 1898. The city and its metropolitan area constitute the premier gateway for legal immigration to the United States.
It has been the country's largest city since 1790. The Statue of Liberty greeted millions of immigrants as they came to the Americas by ship in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and is a world symbol of the United States and its ideals of liberty and peace.
Many districts and landmarks in New York City are well known, and the city received a record 61 million tourists in 2016, hosting three of the world's ten most visited tourist attractions in 2013. Several sources have ranked New York the most photographed city in the world. Times Square, iconic as the world's heart and its Crossroads, is the brightly illuminated hub of the Broadway Theater District, one of the world's busiest pedestrian intersections, and a major center of the world's entertainment industry. The names of many of the city's bridges, skyscrapers, and parks are known around the world. Anchored by Wall Street in the Financial District of Lower Manhattan, New York City has been called both the most economically powerful city and the leading financial center of the world and the city is home to the world's two largest stock exchanges by total market capitalization, the New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ. Manhattan's real estate market is among the most expensive in the world. Manhattan's Chinatown incorporates the highest concentration of Chinese people in the Western Hemisphere, with multiple signature Chinatowns developing across the city. Providing continuous 24/7 service, the New York City Subway is one of the most extensive metro systems worldwide, with 472 stations in operation. Over 120 colleges and universities are located in New York City, including Columbia University, New York University, and Rockefeller University, which have been ranked among the top universities in the world.

Spending the night in a NYC Capsule Hotel (My First Time!)
Hey everyone! Last week I traveled to New York and wanted to stay in a capsule hotel! I found this place that wasn't a traditional capsule hotel like i've seen online before, but I thought it was a cool american take on the experience! (not sponsored at all btw)
So some background, this was called Pod 51, and they offered a wide variety of rooms and sizes for pretty affordably. It was much more affordable than the previous chain hotel I had stayed at before, and a competitive price for the air bnb's I had checked out in the area. I mentioned a hostel had peaked my interest, but in the end this place checked all my travel boxes.
Anyway! Let me know, would you stay here? Or would you stay somewhere similar?
Did the shared bathroom freak you out?

EXPLORE BROOKFIELD PLACE, CHELSEA MARKET AND TIME SQUARE BUS TOUR in NYC! #filipinablog #travelvlog
Day 6 and 7 of my New York City vacation where I explore Brookfield Place, Chelsea Market, and Times Square Bus Tour. Brookfield Place normally to shop at high end in NYC, you have to go to 5th/Madison Avenue. Chelsea Market is a food hall, shopping, office building & television production facility located in Chelsea neighborhood of the borough of Manhattan. Trip Advisor's #1 New York Bus Tour! Perfect slices to see the big apple . Capture the spectacular views of icon's like the Empire State building & Brooklyn Bridge. We discover New York's famous neighborhood and hidden gems and experience the glamour of NYC, illuminated by night. Apologize on the airport I mentioned! We we're in NEWARK LIBERTY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT and United Airlines one of the major hubs.
