Climate
Tanzania's climate is predominately tropical. Tanzania has two rainy seasons - the long rains from late March to June and the short rains from November to January. The long rains fall in heavy downpours, often accompanied by violent storms, but the short rains tend to be much less severe. The hottest time of the year is from December to March, before the long rains begin. The coolest months are June, July and August, when the weather is often overcast. In high-altitude areas such as the Ngorongoro Highlands, temperatures can fall below freezing.

Spiderman Lizard and more on Naabi Hill Gate at Serengeti
Red-blue Spiderman Lizard at Serengeti main gate.
Safari and wildlife photography made with a Nikon D7200, which you can learn more about here:
As we climbed the hill at Naabi, the western entrance to the Serengeti National Park, we came across a relatively large lizard. It was bright blue and red! He just stood his ground, and there were more lizards all around. These are called the spider-man lizard. They are officially know as The Mwanza Flat-headed Agama! We read, “The Mwanza Flat-headed Agama is a lizard found in Tanzania, Rwanda, and Kenya. The lizard has an uncanny resemblance to the Marvel superhero Spiderman. The head, neck and shoulders of the Mwanza Flat-headed Rock Agama is either a bright violet or red, while the rest of their bodies are a deep blue color. Almost fittingly, this delightful color combination is specific only to the male population of the species. The females of this Agama species are dull brown. “ Source -

Then further up the ridge, we saw some wild deer! They had a fawn with them, but just grazed, keeping a watchful eye on us. Distance there is everything and the wildlife knows who and what can move fast enough across such a rough terrain to be a threat to them, or not. I call them dear, but those were actually antelope of one sort to another. I believe these were the steenbok sort of antelope?
