Naantali Church Oct 2009
The Naantali Church (St Bridget) is a so called Viking church ( because of its simple architectonic style and finished in 1462). Its present interior form dates from the mid-eighteen hundreds when it was renovated extensively. The church was built as part of a mediaeval Brigittine convent in the hamlet then known as Valis Gratiae (Latin) which was also known by its Swedish name Nådendal (as the population was Swedish-speaking until the beginning of the last century. The music is Alta Trinita Beata by unknown choir.
The series of photos are a result of my lens misting up as I came into the church from a cold damp dark night in this seaside town.

The Official Sleepyhead of Finland 2015 was thrown into the sea at 7am on 27th of July 2015. This is a great annual tradition in Naantali and after secret council meetings, this years Sleepyhead had been decided to be the appraised film director Timo Koivusalo. Vox Silentii: Helena Vesgocie
Vox Silentii performs Helena Vesgocie in Naantali Convent Church, Naantali, Finland. Vox Silentii (Johanna Korhonen & Hilkka-Liisa Vuori) is specialised on liturgical music of Middle Ages and Early Middle Ages (also called Gregorian chant).
The Naantali Convent Church served originally as the church of the Catholic Bridgittine convent located on this particular site. It was inaugurated in 1462. The convent in Naantali was named Vallis Gratiae, the Valley of Grace. The church is the only building left of the convent. It has superb acoustics especially for this music.
This was filmed in 2006 when we were recording CD/Super Audio CD in Naantali Convent Church, Passio Sanctarum Filiarum, Passion of the Holy Daughters - Medieval Chants for Female Saints (Proprius PRSACD-2033).
Audio is taken from original high quality multichannel recording system used for the recording of SACD, not from video camera's own microphone. The better your audio system is, the better the sound, of course within limitations of Youtube audio. Although this was filmed in SD, the picture quality is better in 720p-HD-version. A trip to Rymättylä
A timelapse of trip from Turku to Rymättylä, now part of Naantali. We stopped at Naantali city while enroute to our destination which was the ferry terminal at Hämmärönsalmi. We drove from there to Rymättylä church.

Jaakontie (Varsinais-Suomi) Turun tuomiokirkolta Naantalin kirkolle. Apuna käytin verkosta löytyvää selostusta (Tiina Rautiainen). Reitti on myös merkattu viitoin. Tein matkan peräkkäisinä päivinä ensin kävellen ja toisena päivänä pyörällä. Tässä pyörällä tehty matka. Tein vaellukset juhannusviikonloppuna/seuraavana maanantaina. Kävellen matka kesti yli 5 tuntia.

Tekemättä on siis osa Naantalin kirkko-Rymättylän kirkko. Akkua pitäisi todennäköisesti ladata välillä/Virta ei todennäköisesti riitä Turusta asti koko matkan tekoon/ei ainakaan paluuseen.

1. kesäkuuta 2016 Naantalin kirkon tornista kajahti kesän ensimmäinen vesper-iltasoitto. Vesper soitetaan tornista kolmeen suuntaan: tasavallan presidentille kohti Kultarantaa, kaupungille ja merelle. Kuvaajana Ragip Önsoy.
