Nabi Ayoub's Tomb, Salalah Oman
The Tomb (Dargah) of Biblical Prophet Job ( Nabi Hazrat Syedina Ayub Alaihis-salatus-salaam Alaihis-salaam) is around 40 kilometres from Salalah on Jebal Ittin. There is a mosque and Dargah ( tomb ) where the remains of the Prophet, quite possibly Job from the Old Testament, are located. There is a small garden on top o f the hill to walk through to get to the Dargah ( tomb ) which is housed in a small building. Immediately next to the Dargah ( tomb ) are the walls of a small room used for prayer. The appearance is much like a mosque however the date of the life of the Prophet is pre-Islam. One section of the wall faces Jerusalem which is the direction the Prophet would face for prayer. Though his life is also pre-Judaism, even at that time he believed in the Oneness of God.
The Book of Job in the Holy Bible begins with an introduction to Job's character — he is described as a blessed man who lives righteously. At the suggestion of God, Satan challenges Job's integrity, proposing to God that Job serves him simply because God protects him. God removes Job's protection, allowing Satan to take his wealth, his children, and his physical health in order to tempt Job to curse God. Despite his difficult circumstances, he does not curse God, but rather curses the day of his birth. And although he protests his plight and pleads for an explanation, he stops short of accusing God of injustice. Most of the book consists of conversations between Job and his three friends concerning Job's condition and its possible reasons, after which God responds to Job and his friends. God opens his speech with the famous words, Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me. After God's reply, Job is overwhelmed and says, I am unworthy - how can I reply to you? I put my hand over my mouth. Many interpretations read this as Job realizing how little he knew when he says to the Lord,My ears had heard of you, but now my eyes have seen you
In the Holy Qur'an, it states that the Job was a righteous servant of God, who was afflicted by suffering for a lengthy period of time. However, the Qur'an clearly states that Job never lost faith in God and forever called to the Lord in prayer, asking Him to remove his affliction:
And Job, when he cried unto his Lord, (saying): Lo! Adversity afflicteth me, and Thou art Most Merciful of all who show mercy. —Qur'an, sura 21 (The Prophets), ayah 83

The story of Nabi Ayoub : the Prophet is from Syria and had two wives. He had become very sick and the illness spanned over 15 years. During that time the exterior of his body became infested with worms. Nabi Ayoub believed that his flesh was the food for these creatures of God and to show his devotion to God, he allowed the worms to eat of his flesh. If a worm would fall off, he would pick it back up and put it back on his flesh.
The sickness repulsed the people of Syria to the extent that he had to leave the area. Only one of his two wives chose to travel with him. The one who remained behind was as repulsed by his sickness and belief as were others who drove him away. The wife who remained with him was seemingly very supportive and accepting of his devotion to God. They left Syria and travelled to the mountain top where his remains now lie.
As stated, his sickness lasted over 15 years and at some point the worms began to eat inside his mouth. It was at this point that Nabi Ayoub realized his breaking point and finally asked God for mercy. In response to this request, aware of the years of devotion and hardship, it is believed that God instructed Nabi Ayoub to step out from his house and place his foot in a particular spot. When doing so a small hole in the ground opened up and from within the ground an outpouring of water occurred right next to his foot. God then instructed him to drink this water and upon doing so, he was not only cured of his sickness but his body, then at least 250 years old, was restored to the health of an 18 year old young man.
Nabi Ayoub would then live until the age of 92 when he finally died and was put to rest in the very spot he dwelled all these years after his departure from Syria. Until now, Nabi Ayoub's body remains in the same spot.
Just outside the entrance to the tomb is a small metal door on the ground. When opened you will find a footprint which has turned to stone. Measurements of the footprint we do not know but suffice it to say, it is quite large. This very footprint is believed to be the mark left on the ground when God instructed Nabi Ayoub to press his foot down. Just to the left of the footprint is a small hole in the ground where it is believed that the curing waters flowed from which he drank.

The Tomb of Nabi Ayoub (AS) or the Prophet Job (PBUH) - Salalah/Oman
#nabiayoub #prophetayoub #salalah #oman
This about 40 kilometers from Salalah on Jebal Ittin. There are a mosque and a tomb where are the remains of the Prophet, probably Job’s as per the Old Testament.
There is a small garden to reach the tomb that is in a small building. Right next to the tomb are the walls of a small room used for prayer. The appearance is very similar to a mosque, but the date of the Prophet's life is pre-Islamic. Part of the wall overlooks Jerusalem, which is the direction the Prophet will see before prayer. Although his life was also pre-Judaic, he even believed in the Oneness of God at that time.
If you see the grave yourself, you immediately notice its greatness. It measures approximately 13 feet long or nearly 4 meters and is more than 1 1/2 meters wide. And yes, his body was indeed as big as you will see when you see the footprint.
We asked the narrator during our visit about the reality of the body of the Prophet to become as great as his tomb appears and we are told that it was written that thousands of years ago people were big enough to easily reach a palm tree and be fruitful to eat. Given the size of the footprint, the size could not be disputed!
The story of Nabi Ayoub (AS): the Prophet comes from Syria and had two wives. He became very ill and the disease spread in 15 years. Meanwhile, the outside of his body was infected with worms. Nabi Ayoub (AS) believed that his flesh was the food for these creatures of God and to show his devotion to God, he allowed the worms of his flesh to eat. When a worm fell, he picked it up and put it back on his flesh.
They left Syria and traveled to the mountain top where his remains now lie.
The disease drove people back from Syria because they had to leave the area. Only one of his two women chose to travel with him. The one who stayed behind was equally repelled by his illness and faith as the others who drove him away. The woman who stayed with him was apparently very supportive and accepted his devotion to God. They left Syria and went to the top of the mountain where his remains are.
As said, his illness lasted more than 15 years and at some point worms began to eat in his mouth. At this moment Nabi Ayoub realized his breaking point and eventually asked God. In response to this request, given years of devotion and hardship, it is believed that God has ordered Nabi Ayoub from his house and placed his foot in a certain place. A small hole in the ground opened and a water spill came from the inside of the ground right next to his foot. God then gave him the order to drink this water and with that, he was not only healed of his illness but his body, at least 250 years old, was restored to the health of a young man of 18 years.
Nabi Ayoub (AS) then lived until the age of 92, when he eventually died and was buried in the place where he lived all those years after leaving Syria. So far the body of Nabi Ayoub (AS) remains in the same place.
The water no longer flows out of this hool next to the footprint. It's dry. So far the source of water that fed this hool on God's command is 1 kilometer from the mountain and there are no visible water spots leading to the top. Apparently, the water ran to the hill and to the mountain where Nabi Ayoub(AS) pushed his foot. As per famous saying; there is a place about 1 KM far from the Tomb where you will find the spring water – from which Nabi Ayoub(AS) took ghusal/bath and get healed.
