Masada, Ein Gedi and the Dead Sea - The ultimate guide to the Judaean Desert
A complete guide to visiting Masada, the Dead Sea, Ein Gedi and Qumran. This video will show
you all you need to know about the main sites in the Judaean Desert.
Here’s what this video is about:
Masada: How do you get there? A brief history of Masada and information about the best way to
see Masada – an unknown trail that surrounds Masada.
The Dead Sea is one of the wonders of the world. It is the lowest point on earth and you can
float on its dense salty waters! Where are the best beaches and what do you need to be aware
of?
Ein Gedi is a national park that is home to two spring-fed streams with drinkable water that flow
all year round - Nahal David and Nahal Arugot. A visit to Ein Gedi combines history – there is an
ancient, 6,000-year-old temple, and a beautiful synagogue with a mosaic floor – and wildlife –
there are plants that originally come from Africa, and you get to see animals including the ibex
and the rock hyrax. Ein Gedi is perfect for those who love hiking. Most visitors go for two to
three hours, but there are also longer full-day treks.
Qumran is a small archeological site. I describe it as the most important unimpressive site in the
world. The site is hardly spectacular in itself, but in order to understand it you need to look at the
cliffs all around and know the history of the place. The Dead Sea scrolls were found in the caves
set in the cliffs around Qumran. This is one of the most important archeological finds in Israel
and the world.

The Dead Sea is an endorheic lake located in the Jordan Rift Valley, a geographic feature formed by the Dead Sea Transform. This left lateral-moving transform fault lies along the tectonic plate boundary between the African Plate and the Arabian Plate. It runs between the East Anatolian Fault zone in Turkey and the northern end of the Red Sea Rift offshore of the southern tip of Sinai. It is here that the Upper Jordan River/Sea of Galilee/Lower Jordan River water system comes to an end. The Jordan River is the only major water source flowing into the Dead Sea, although there are small perennial springs under and around the Dead Sea, forming pools and quicksand pits along the edges. There are no outlet streams. The Mujib River, biblical Arnon, is one of the larger water sources of the Dead Sea other than the Jordan. The Wadi Mujib valley, 420 m below the sea level in the southern part of the Jordan valley, is a biosphere reserve, with an area of 212 km2 (82 sq mi). Other more substantial sources are Wadi Darajeh (Arabic)/Nahal Dragot (Hebrew), and Nahal Arugot. Wadi Hasa (biblical Zered) is another wadi flowing into the Dead Sea.Rainfall is scarcely 100 mm (4 in) per year in the northern part of the Dead Sea and barely 50 mm (2 in) in the southern part. The Dead Sea zone's aridity is due to the rainshadow effect of the Judaean Mountains. The highlands east of the Dead Sea receive more rainfall than the Dead Sea itself. To the west of the Dead Sea, the Judaean mountains rise less steeply and are much lower than the mountains to the east. Along the southwestern side of the lake is a 210 m (700 ft) tall Halite (mineral) formation called Mount Sodom.

Ein Gedi, a Trip to the Dead Sea
Experience the amazing natural beauty of Ein Gedi Nature Reserve, an oasis of waterfalls, wildlife and relaxing nature hikes that covers over three miles on the slopes of the Judean hills, stretching down to the Dead Sea. Ein Gedi Nature Reserve offers a range of hiking trails suitable for all levels. David's Waterfall is recommended as a fantastic trail for individuals, families and even kids. The trail winds through spectacular desert surroundings, taking you to the famous site of David's Waterfall. The high freshwater waterfall is the perfect place to swim, splash and get totally refreshed in the midst of the desert.
Along the way, discover amazing wildlife, such as the ibex, a desert animal native to the region. Similar looking to the antelope, the ibex is a graceful animal with large curved horns. While hiking to David's Waterfall, you can watch the ibex in its natural habitat, together with other wildlife that are drawn to the vegetation of the area. The David's Waterfall trail is a great way to spend the day getting close to nature and cooling off in the unique desert environment of Ein Gedi Nature Reserve.

Israel, The Dead Sea, Wadi Arugot - You won't except to see that in the Desert!
Do you think the Dead Sea is only for old people with skin issues???
Think again!!!
In the dead sea area, there are some beautiful hikes and some extreme adventures, which you better be in shape to enjoy them without getting exhausted!
This video is the second day of two days trek I did just before I traveled to Brazil.
The trek began at Ein Gedi through Wadi David. The group climbed all the way up on the cliff to Ramat Hamidbar. Unfortunately, I missed this part due to a small car accident, But I was determined to join the group, so I found a detour and climbed up by myself from the other side.
We had camping over the night, where I got to know all the beautiful persons in the group.
On the Second day, we went down through a very stiff descending to the gorgeous Wadi Arugot!
Wadi Arugot was full of water, and we went all the way to the upper pools where we could see the flow from inside the mountain.
It is possible to make a half day trip to Wadi Arugot and enjoy more time in the pools, without a big and heavy backpack.
All the wadies near the Dead Sea are full of clean water after the massive rains we had last month.

EIN GEDI NATURE RESERVE
Ein Gedi nature reserve was declared in 1971 and is one of the most important reserves in Israel. The park is situated on the eastern border of the Judean Desert.
In Joshua 15:62, Ein Gedi is enumerated among the cities of the Tribe of Judah in the desert Betharaba, but Ezekiel 47: 10 shows that it was also a fisherman's town, late King David hides in the desert of Ein Gedi ( Samuel 24:1-2 ) and King Saul seeks him even upon the most craggy rocks, which only wild goat. ( 1 Samuel 24:3 )

Hi, friends! We have great news: The deadline for the April tour of Israel has been extended and there are still spots available! We’re going to hang out with Joshua Aaron, our Messianic friends in the Galilee, and see the beautiful, ancient, holy land. Come join us!
Before you write this off as something you can’t afford, let me tell you that you can’t afford not to go. And it’s amazing how loved ones (in your family and in YaH’s family) will rally around you to help you get there when it is His perfect time. Here are some ideas to help you make the trip with us:
• Start a GoFundMe campaign
• Go to your fellowship and ask for help with sponsors
• Talk to friends & family and see if they will match your contributions. If you can find 10 people who will match your contributions (up to $300) that will turn your $300 into $3000. That’s enough for your tour with a few hundred left over toward your flight cost! You’re almost there!
• Go through your closets, storage shed, and garage. If you can sell it, do it!
• Ask your friends and family to be part of a multi-family garage sale for your trip. Everyone has spare stuff hanging around and while they may not have spare cash, who wouldn’t be willing to donate their unused items for your trip of a lifetime?
• Use those holiday monetary gifts and bonuses for this!
• This is what your savings account is for… the epic journey of a lifetime!

Ein Gedi Reserve - An Oasis in the Desert
The spectacular En Gedi Nature Reserve, just west of the Dead Sea shore in the Judean Mountains, is blessed with two year-round streams, the David Stream in the north and the Arugot Stream in the south.
The combination of En Gedi's location and its fresh water sources allow a wide variety of plant and animal species to thrive side by side. Among the mammals in En Gedi are herds of ibex and groups of hyrax. Nocturnal animals include foxes, wolves, hyenas, and even the occasional spotted leopard.

En Gedi by G.E.N.E. (Grooving Electronic Natural Environments)
G.E.N.E. is not nearly as well-known in America as a band for this genre of this caliber should be by now, so I post this to raise public awareness of this band here in The States or primarily for educational purpose. But also, for one's listening enjoyment. They have an amazing repertoire of atmospheric nature music that is truly phenomenal & exceptional. I consider this song to be their best work. Below is a discography link to all 21 of their albums
Ein Gedi עֵין גֶּדִי,عين جدي an oasis in Israel 14.2.2014
Ein Gedi (Hebrew: עֵין גֶּדִי, Arabic: عين جدي) is an oasis in
Israel,
located west of the Dead Sea, near Masada and the
Qumran.
The name Ein Gedi is composed of two Hebrew words:
ein means spring and gdi means goat-kid. En Gedi thus
means Kid spring. The word 'ain' or 'ein' also means
spring
in Arabic, and the word 'Gedi' or 'Jadi' also means a goat-kid
in Arabicn Caves.
Ein Gedi nature reserve was declared in 1971and is one
of
the most important reserves in Israel. The park is situated
on the eastern border of the Judean Desert, on the Dead
Sea coast, and covers an area of 14000 dunams (one
modern dunam equals the area of one decare).
The elevation of the land ranges from the level of the
Dead Sea at 423 meters (1,388 ft) below sea level to the
plateau of the Judean Desert at 200 meters above sea
level.
Ein Gedi nature reserve includes two spring-fed
streams with flowing water year-round: Nahal David
and Nahal Arugot. Two other springs, the Shulamit and
Ein Gedi springs, also flow in the reserve.
Together, the springs generate approximately three
million cubic meters of water per year. Much of the
water is used for agriculture or is bottled for
consumption.
The reserve is a sanctuary for many types of plant, bird
and animal species.

The Ein Gedi Hotel is located in one of the most stunning places on earth, on the edge
of the Judean Desert, opposite tall cliffs, wadis, a green spot within wild beauty and the Dead Sea. Ein Gedi: Different shades of blue, salt blocs, unique and along the desert's pearl coasts. An oasis with beauty bursting in shades of green and an array of other colors, this is a small piece of heaven, unique and fascinating, home to a community that built itself a small, magical Garden of Eden. That is the story of Ein Gedi, where a small group of people with a love for plants and animals and pride in the place they chose to live in, with a familiarity with what makes Ein Gedi unique. It is an oasis on the shore of the Dead Sea, in the shade of the Ha'etekim Cliff -- a blooming garden and world famous site.
That this wonderful oasis is considered The Land of Ein Gedi is well deserved.
